Think Derby are doomed, be a miracle if Eustace keeps them up.

Saito and the Korean lad they got on loan from Spurs are exciting players, I think that Saito is out of contract at his parent club in the summer

Personally, I didn’t rate Saito too highly. In both games, he did make MVE look a bit silly with his twists and turns but in terms of output, he’s not really delivered much, 2 goals and 2-3 assists.

Statistically, very similar to Sakamoto and both players excel most in the defensive aspects of the game (compared to wingers/AMs). Overall, Sakamoto does seem to be the better player offensively.

He looked very good, MVE couldn't get close to him all night.

How many chances did he actually create though? He did lots of twists and turns but always wanted to get back onto his right foot and for all his effort, his dribbles didn’t lead to much.

Saito is a better version of Sakamoto. He is a big reason why QPR have turned their season around and why I have been saying I fancy them to make or get very close to the playoffs. He creates panic in defences and makes space for everyone else.

He’d scored 1 goals up to last night and only 2 assists. Whatever you mean by ‘creating panic’ and ‘creating space’, it hasn’t lead to much goal contributions.

He’s awkward to defend against but is ultimately quite predictable in both games we played against QPR this season.

If they played like we do with getting bodies into the box he would get more assists. QPR are good at set pieces. That's when they flood the area. He doesn't take the set pieces so doesn't get the assists.

He had MVE on toast most of the game. How often do you see that? But there was hardly ever anyone in a good place to get the ball to. They were still getting into the area.

I think he only took on MVE once. Don’t get me wrong, MVE struggled a bit in both games with his twisting and turning on the ball, but it didn’t lead to much.

Over 46 games the stats don’t lie and if we wanted to sign a winger with 2 goals and as many assists in 30+ games, people wouldn’t be impressed. Heck, EMC had 30+ goal contributions in L1 and there were short-sighted people moaning about signing him.

On FBRef he scores lower than Sakamoto in taking players on and crosses in the box. Which suggests he flatters to deceive in the sense that he looks busy with his trickery without actually being productive.

Once?

I know you love to disagree with just about everything I say. Everyone who watched the game will know the truth. MVE Struggled with him all the game. But he didn't have anyone to pass to in the box most of the time. They don't pack the box until they have a set piece.

I remember the disagreements about EMC. I called him as our best threat on the left. Only the blind couldn’t see it. Just like those who didn't see Rudoni as being as good as he is. Look back at who plays on the left when Wright is back.

This is getting silly now.

tbf it's true - there weren't that many times he 'had him on toast'

Feel free to agree to disagree but stats don’t lie and Saito is not a standout player in this league. He's not better than Sakamoto or EMC that’s my subjective opinion which is supported by objective markers.

I also don’t happen to rate Sakamoto that highly and would like us to upgrade on that position in the summer.

Sakamoto does his job on the right. Some call him a one trick pony but he gets past players and is a danger. Saito has more in his locker even if they play similarly.

Yeah but we have Mason-Clark. 💪

Put simply: why do the stats not reflect that?
Teams play differently. Teams that get players in the box have more chances of getting players to get assists. If they pack the box on set pieces those taking the set pieces have a better chance of getting assists.
Quite simple really.
