We've reached the siege mentally time of the season. No such thing as a certainty. Surprise results just about every week. Last week some on here had Middlesbrough finishing in the top 6. Just a point off in 7th and 2 games in hand IIRC. Now they're in 11th, 4 points away and just 1 game in hand.I have just had a look at Blackburn's fixtures - they have an incredibly easy run in from hereon in. Only Sunderland (a) and Sheff Utd a) - last game of the season (which may be irrelevant to Sheff Utd by then). Be absolutely amazed if they are not in the top 6, as the rest of the games look cherry picked for them.
Look at the run Plymouth just had. Away to Sunderland, then home to WBA, Liverpool in the cup then finishing off with home to Millwall. Plymouth were rooted at the bottom of the table. They drew at Sunderland then beat the other 3. 10 goals for, 4 goals against.
It's also why I've been confident of a run for the top 6. Teams in the race for promotion have to keep playing each other. Teams at the bottom are playing for survival. And unusually this season every club still has something to play for. 6th to 15th are separated by just 7 points. 16th to 24th just 11 points.
Add to this injuries and players being knackered towards the end. Players continuing with knocks.
Teams will drop away from the top and pull away from the bottom in the next few weeks. But both promotion and relegation could well be decided on the last day.
