If they were that way inclined, why not just fulfil that model in numerous sites across the UK? I don't buy this 'if they find land for a stadium, they'd sell it for housing'. Coventry isn't the only place in the UK that has land suitable for housing. Why not just buy land elsewhere and sell for housing in other locations if that's what they wanted to do??

They don't develop, they take on ailing companies and maximise their assets.

Behave, even Wasps haven't inflated the value to £80 million. We would get a half share for around £20 million.

No the valuation for bond purposes is over £40 million and we’d have to take 50% liability on the £35 million bond.

As you go into the park, this is the view to the right. In the distance is Keresley Road.

This is the view looking straight ahead. Behind those trees is Waste Lane and then Coundon Park.

Again, that is Keresley Road in the background. Behind the tall trees is a further park.

You can just see the other park in the distance (and obviously my thumb in the forefront. Dog was pulling.)

Tim Fisher been off secretly to buy up this land and that's why he's been quiet lately?

Signs went up at the entrance about 3-4 weeks ago saying 'Private Land' and one of the dog walkers was told that soon she would no longer be able to walk her dog on there.

Something is definitely being developed up there.

Maybe Dale Evans is going to build a virtual casino.

Sorry Otis but one the basis that the new stadium isn't going to happen anywhere, ever, I don't really see the point of this thread!

I hope not there are more than enough houses being built in that area already, I am surprised that they haven’t tried to build on the piece of land on the corner by the shepherd

Wishful thinking. Am I not even allowed that?

Just think it would be a great location for a stadium. We're going to have the same problem whoever owns us.

Sorry I thought you were writing as if a new stadium was a likely/realistic/serious prospect. It isn't.

I have wishful thinking about us qualifying for Europe but I think you can pigeonhole that in the same "unlikely" slot.

Oh, thought it was rather obvious I was joking (as if Fisher really is trying to secure a location).

Bottom line is though, down the line we either grab a share of the Ricoh or we build our own stadium and that's the same scenario whoever is in charge.

With Wasps hovering over long term likely insolvency, it is clear the reason TF is doing nothing is to wait until they become seriously financially distressed and then make a paltry offer that their circumstances mean they'd struggle to turn down.....tried exactly the same with the council/ACL.

Try as I might, Otis, I am struggling to see you hiding in the bushes with your binoculars - give us a clue mate

That’s exactly what wasps did isn’t it?

Tell me at what point Wasps were deliberately waiting for ACL to fail before bidding? Unlike SISU who deliberately tried to bankrupt ACL (as confirmed by the High Court, re-affirmed by the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court)...

In any case, without going down the rabbit warren again, I was just stating that on this occasion, the "no new stadium" strategy makes business sense (as it always did) and this tells us why a new stadium won't happen. I wasn't consciously criticising the tactic or SISU's history (although god knows they're in the wrong). Do you disagree with me and think that a new stadium WILL happen?

The only site in Cov that I can think of sizewise for a football stadium let’s say the size of HR is the Higgs site. The old Severn Trent land is there which goes almost upto Chase Avenue Willenhall. But would never get planning permission due to inseficient road access. There is land on the old Courtaulds site too but that seems allocated for housing. But of course with sisu seemingly hell bent on pushing us to the size of Forest Green Rovers I suppose there’s a number of piddling little sites for a 5000 seater somewhere.

You could easily fit two stadiums into Copthorne Park.

Land at side of A45 back of Stonehouse estate is perfect football & Rugby pitches already there roads would need little change.

Who is paying for all this? and I thought the current thinking was nearer the city centre or at least commercial outlets to tie in with a stadium?

Is it near the airport? If it's where I think you mean, I believe Fernando is right.

Right. My day job is partly searching for land for companies to buy and develop. Let’s get this sorted. What are the specs we need for a stadium? What sort of acreage? What sort of location? What sort of existing uses?

I’m going to pull off a list of potential sites with the addresses of the owners and send it to Fisher.

For a stadium and car park? 3 acres? I don't know
