It would be unfair. As I understand it they would only bring the passports in after every adult has been offered a vaccine so I’m guessing this might be more focussed on autumn period onwards. It feels like it’s a way of encouraging vaccine take up to me

ps I personally can’t see why it should be needed once a majority of the adult population is vaccinated anyway (unless new variants appear but then I guess vaccines may become irrelevant then anyway). After that, we’re all grown ups, we should decide our own risks in life...unless you work around elderly etc

I agree, I’m just totally sick of it at this point.

Nobody should be in favour of vaccine passports to enter pubs etc ..

What absolute nonsense

it would get forged anyway if they introduce one

Evo are you getting the vaccine? If so, why are you so against it.
I am getting the vaccine of course..but I'm against this

Pubs will suffer massively, no point opening nightclubs until later this year either as most u21 won't be vaccined until then anyway , alot of inner city bars will suffer too

Not to mention its a twatty idea to carry a card around saying you haven't got the lurgy

The extremely vulnerable have been vaccinated, the deaths to under 40s don't warrant this kind of action

Until Britain has vaccinated most people, then it's better to just continue to reasonably socially distance

To an extent I agree. Although I am against nightclubs opening up as they were, at least for the time being.

Life should return to normal after weve been vaccinated , we should however be sensible with border restrictions if other countries still lag behind

Surely better for the business than having to stay closed completely?
With a vaccine passport alot may Aswell just shut completely as many pubs won't make it past summer at this rate.

Why on earth do people want to carry a card around to say they've been vaccinated .

Continue with reasonable social distancing measures until Britain completes it vaccination program
And then get back to bloody normal and if the most vulnerable need annual jabs , then that's what should happen

But if we have vaccine passports we can get Dido Harding / Hancock's pal / Harry Redknapp's dog in charge of it all and pay them eleventy billion for the privilege.

I'm assuming this is another thing Johnson is just spouting off that will end up dying a death and pretending it was never suggested.

As a general rule I'd say following the majority view of the experts should be the default. The worrying part here is Johnson saying pubs should be able to decide for themselves. Not sure I want people like Tim Martin making what could potentially be life or death decisions.
who’s calling the shots, Boris Johnson v Tim Martin = Out of the frying pan into the microwave.

Wouldn't be any different to now being allowed in under age would it? Bar staff check id for that.

Yes it would. ID is checked for people who look 25 and under, who might represent a small percentage of punters.

Vaccine checks for everybody entering a pub? If it's a busy pub what's the point if the unvaccinated potentially infectious person stands at the bar for 15 minutes waiting?

It's totalitarian nonsense. Sorry.

The whole idea of vaccine checks for non travel is ridiculous. But also would be very difficult to set up.

Setting up an app with the QR code for individuals is the east part. You would then need a system to validate the QR at pub side. On top of this you would still need formal ID at the same time. Other wise could be anyone using someone else's QR.

This would not only be slow. It would also cost hundreds of millions if not more in infrastructure.

For travel its not as difficult as would have your passport with you.

Not at all, have someone at the door scanning. I'm sure than more enough people would be in favour of it to keep them in business.

Consider the case rate last summer when we had nobody vaccinated and tell me why this is needed when by June well over half of all adults will have been jabbed once if not twice?

Screenshot_20210325-161129_Google.jpg basically over half the people haven't been vaccined yet ...pubs will just continue to unnecessarily struggle with a vaccine passport

It’s laughable - let’s say a woman has t had the jab as she’s expecting - should she be ostracised from society until she has a baby?

It’s nonsense so I assume the same applies to:

cafes
Takeaways
Taxis
Buses
Supermarkets
Holiday homes
Hotels
Sporting events (I guess anyone buying a season ticket and not vaccinated will not be allowed in)

I’ve heard nothing to say it will be law ie it would be landlord, club owners choice. After the shit 12+ months of trading I can’t see many wanting to risk losing custom but enforcing this. As mentioned earlier this feels like a nudge to try to get as many vaccinated as possible
