Here in Oxfordshire we have a 5 fold increase in cases from last week, includes 2 of my grandsons from different household who did not mix together. One is 24 and the other 17. Both are very responsible young men so have no idea where they picked it up from. The 24 year old had his first jab 6 weeks ago. Both have been very poorly and bedridden for a few days. We don't have a lot of fatalities right now, but I think we have a long way to go to purge it through our population.

Now, as you well know, you miss context including governance systems, communication, travel, transmission, and global situations.

Anyway, have a read of various pandemics, it's all interesting stuff.

Surely though there is a point when there is an acceptance on the fact risks are now low and therefore economic interests weigh more favourably

There is. I'd be happier if the BMA weren't considering it an act of gross negligence to make mask wearing on public transport voluntary however. Wearing a mask on a train isn't exactly a massive deal, really. Doesn't stop you doing much, other than flashing that sultry smile of yours at the broad sitting in the corner, crossing and uncrossing her legs like Cupid Stunt.

Think hill has.
Someone on breakfast telly suggested only 50% innoculated

All risk groups have been offered 2 doses

just seen someone on Facebook share that Masks do more harm than good? I asked what harm they do and they said that wearing a mask has long term side effects. Anyone know what they supposedly are?

About 4 days ago the Midlands was at 57% double dosed. so still a way to go.

Also does anyone know why the pace of vaccinations both 1st and 2nd jabs is slowing right down?

The 'logic' is they restrict airflow, and you start breathing your own breath back in - i.e. carbon dioxide etc.

Have to admit, bar a rush hour train (unavoidable), shopping queues (I'll stick with deliveries, more convenient anyway, and can pop to the shop out of busy times if I really need something) and rock concerts or football games (avoidable if I want to) I do my best not to get within two metres of people anyway!

Who wants to stick their face in the presence of a stranger's?!?

There is off course some people who will rely on herd immunity and not just those who can’t be arsed to get the vaccine or those fruit loops who just reject it.

People with allergies who through no fault of their own can’t have a vaccine. People without a spleen who can’t hold onto certain cell types from any vaccine so until a history is built up they don’t know how effective the vaccine is short, medium or long term for them.

Chinese tourists have worn masks in the UK for ages, it's not a big deal. However, if cunts start putting their bags on back to front there will be trouble.

If somebody wants to wear a mask, that's their choice. If they don't and don't have to by law, it's theirs.

What risk reduction is there from wearing masks and is it negated when they are unwashed and stuffed in pockets before putting them on?

Exactly…people put them on,take them off, touch surfaces, touch their masks again, touch more surfaces etc - where‘s the actual proof that they even work?

So just to recap. The man who said we’ll be pleased to know that he was shaking hands with Covid victims in hospital just before becoming a victim himself and ending up in hospital says that we don’t need to wear masks whereas his scientific advisers have confirmed that they’ll continue to wear masks personally.

Tricky one. Who’s advice should I follow?

TBF I didn’t have to think about it too long but I’ve decided to ignore the idiot who bragged about shaking hands with people who have Covid thinking he was a hero and decided to listen to the chief medical advisors. Much as I’ve done the whole pandemic.
