They shouldn't die or have a serious outcome but my 12yr old grandson is getting all the symptoms, out of breath just from kicking the football for a few minutes, an extremely fit sporty lad.

We've all got colds ATM, we obviously all thought we had covid lol , 4 tests each over several days , yea ...standard cold
I'm not trying to be alarmist but have said a few times across this thread without knowing what the experts know but do wonder about the blindspot of it mutating to be lethal to children.
I wonder what we would do then and I don't just mean vaccination.
I mean the whole gamut.

It certainly asks to the power these organisations have over Govts along with tech giants etc.
He was kind of damned for the outlay they had to make and win the contest.
He should have cancelled as his people wished.
Now is it an old wives tale that if you have a cold it's not possible to pick up the virus.

Just looked this up and this is me publicly debating with myself as much as anything not arguing with you, but 14 deaths from 9 million vaccines. Which is around 0.00015%
Of course myocarditis isn’t nothing but then I’d guess you have to compared to long COVID and ICU stays etc from COVID.
Finding child mortality data from Delta hard to find though so not sure what I’m comparing that with. Seen 0.3% reported but not clear if that’s mortality or ICU or of total deaths. Would like to see better data.
For reference do we know the current percentage mortality overall for the vaccinated population?
Just wondering if it may be comparible with that.

I don’t. I’ve seen lots of info graphics and comparisons with unvaccinated but not sure where easy to read straight numbers are. I get it’s not straightforward to calculate but still feels like the data needed to make informed decisions isn’t abundant.

The JCVI aren't making decisions on a public health basis. Their remit is looking at the benefits for an individual against the risks. The numbers they published gave a reasonable explanation.
As a wider point, not many people will have heard of the JCVI prior to the pandemic. Generally, the CMO was unknown. It's a disgrace how the mendacious scumbags in the cabinet make it appear that these independent advisors make the decisions.

This caught my eye so had a look at the report on full fact. For any parents out there that may have this decision to make probably worth highlighting some other parts of the piece.
The figures have been extrapolated from self reported conditions on VAERS, the US equivalent of our yellow card system. This means none of the reports have been verified by a medical professional. If you believe the data reported on our yellow card system getting the vaccination has caused several women to become pregnant so its probably wise to view that data with caution.

My Ex missus (daughter’s mum) and wife (son’s mum) have took what is a pretty tricky decision out of my hands… just hope it doesn’t mean cancelling the already postponed three times trip to Disney in April. I expect I will be told to go forth and bollocks regarding a refund if it’s purely the fact the kids aren’t jabbed that means we can’t go. Fingers crossed it still just needs negative tests all round.

I think the timing was also due to wanting to give over 18s every chance of getting double jabbed before passports were implemented.

Here, it really is time the government went proactive and explicit in publicising the benefits of vaccination with reference to current hospitalisations and deaths. Eg (made up) "we've got X patients hospitalised in their 30s and they are 95% unvaccinated"
All the debate about 12-15 year olds seems to assume that the rest of the population is vaccinated when it isn't the case.
Agreed Fernando, I said recently I don’t understand why some of the vaccination data isn’t pushed a lot harder. Let’s be honest most of the media won’t bother, especially when they can talk about rising cases and deaths but the government should be proactively getting this info out there.

After the hardest 3 weeks of my life I am pleased to post that my wife is now HOME!
At one point 2 weeks ago they told she needed a c section and ventilator. They were not optimistic about her surviving really. Csnt explain to youb
that feeling When nurse tells you that they won't lie and your wife is critically ill
But God bless the NHS they saved her life by God's grace
Get jabbed people. But.more importantly don't take anyone for granted

I hear Chinese whispers that govt. is preparing for lockdowns over the coming Winter. Summer was about Herd immunity and current virus strain (S). Winter will be about new strains, influenza, poor initial vaccination efficacy, and a mad dash to close services down again.
The good thing is that Social Care provision for elderly is being reviewed. The bad thing is that there will be fewer older people to care for. Problem solved? (Top paragraph is about govt. departments currently drawing up plans for lockdowns-) My take on this is that any organization has to plan for all eventualities so it is worst-case scenario.

The concern would be we haven't come close to getting the numbers down as low as last summer. The hope would be that the vaccines will mean that isn't as big a problem as last year.
Find the unwillingness to push the button on boosters odd given that we supposedly had them on order months ago so supply isn't an issue and the data from elsewhere shows it brings cases down.
