Could be very good news. Let’s just hope this is repeated across the country. My main concern about the article is that it mentions Northampton has above average vaccination/booster rates which may well have contributed to reduced hospitalisations.

Will some of the major cities with poor vaccination rates have the same outcome ? Fingers crossed they will but logic says probably not....only time will tell
Hasn’t been a couple of weeks since it was here yet it’s too early to tell

Said last night il stay off this thread but had a change of heart.

Il just post the good news, then fuckoff again until the next good news article

So heres today's

If you ever wanted the question the accuracy of a story then consider this one.
Brackley’s local general hospital is 11 miles away in Banbury. Northampton General Hospital is approx 23 miles away, with John Radcliffe 23.5 miles. If there was a surge of admissions then they wouldn’t be going to Northampton from there.

Also doesn't appear to account for the lag between cases and hospitalisations but let's hope it's right despite that

Ive just reread the article and while it mentions that Northamptonshire was one of the first areas where there was a spike/spread in omicron it’s not clear when this started so agree it’s probably a bit early but fingers crossed

If anybody is interested do feel fine and just have a very slight sore arm just like the other 2.

Oh, I had 17 heart attacks and was visited by three festive ghosts too.

Had mine at 9:20 this morning. Don’t even have the sore arm yet. It’s gonna come out of nowhere and I’ll suddenly feel shit won’t I?

I had mine at 10:30 and the sore arm has been coming all day slowly but exactly the same as before when it was the only symptom.

I had a mildly sore arm for a day, but had very rough cold and headache symptoms for 2-3
which jabs did you have?

Interesting thread from a South African, suggestion that it might have a low Omicron hospitalisation and death rate due to the scale of its previous waves, 250k excess deaths in SA

State of this country - on its knees because of all the testing for something people don’t know they have unless they do the actual testing for it…and even then it’s for something absolutely mild
It really is a country of wimps

Yeah, loads of guesswork around this. Is natural immunity from previous wave (of maybe a closer variant) better than more vaccine immunity that we’ve got as a country ?!

As we keep saying, only time will tell. I think we are underestimating how much natural immunity we have in the country in addition to vaccine immunity. They say actual cases are around double confirmed so we’ve been running at 80-100k per day for a while. All this should hopefully help keep severe illness down

My daughter has been told the restaurant she works at has to close till Boxing Day at the earliest . Apparently the manager tested positive along with their partner . From what I can gather they can’t send anyone in as a relief manager as that breaks the covid bubble .

I certainly haven't read them all but I've modelling report I've looked at over the last 18 months of this mess has contained multiple scenarios. On pretty much every occasion all the headlines have only mentioned the worse case scenario.

I agree Dave. That’s been part of the issue for me. I’ve not read the Telegraph article as I can’t access it but each scenario should be very clear with assumptions and probability. The media should then include this when reporting.

Unfortunately these worst case scenarios have also been used almost as fact by government and SAGE at certain points on the pandemic. We’ve even had models that were already out of date used to persuade public. It’s just wrong. Give people facts and easy to interpret data/information. It’s not too much to ask

Some of the headlines from them seem borderline impossible too.

Magazine that exists solely on edgy scientifically unsound commentary upset edgy scientifically unsound commentary isn’t given enough attention during a pandemic.

Speccy has called just about everything wrong since this started. I seem to recall them saying it would all be over by April 2020.

Accusing others of losing their way when they themselves are wandering around aimlessly in the middle of nowhere.

Without wanting to get too graphic, was it much blood?

I coughed up a very small amount of blood a month or two ago when I was ill and thought it could be Covid. Rang 111 who arranged a call with my docs and he just said to go for a Covid test, and if it was negative then not to worry it’s probably just a chest infection. Test came back negative but I was pretty rough.

Hope you get better soon.
