Just waiting for my PCR test result following a positive LFT this morning.
I’m treble jabbed - feel a bit dizzy and tired. Nothing major.
Likely Thrown the Christmas plans out of the window but hardly a big deal compared to others.

I've got to say I will be pretty pissed off to see any return to restrictions.

1. The government has done nothing to address the long or short term capacity constraints (which are entirely of its own makings) in the health service
2 I've had my three doses of vaccine, I've adhered to restrictions (did not see any of my family in person from October 2020 until July 2021).
3. Imposing requirements for punters to sit outside on the pub and restaurant sector is just disingenuous
There shouldn’t have been the crass Americanesque Freedom Day nonsense - removing all restrictions before a global pandemic finishes is ridiculous and makes it very difficult to row back on.

At the peak they had 40 on ventilators. It really is mental as I think that is at least double what they ICU capacity was pre COVID.
Is it bonkers to just be like…the govt need to invest in a shit load more permanent NHS capacity especially ventilators etc cause this shit isn’t going away

They'll let private companies like BUPA buy all the stock and push some bullshit "If you want to be sure you get the care you need buy insurance" then when a load do it'll be used as evidence that private healthcare is popular.

Bupa and the like would never ever take on provision of services for people that are critically ill, it needs far too much infrastructure, for example, lots of people with severe pneumonia suffer kidney failure too.

I may need educating (I’m sure I do), when I went to get my PCR today, I initially drove to the wrong entrance and was told it was for people who’d paid for a PCR?
What’s that about?

Boris Johnson spending 3 hours earlier locked in meetings trying his poor little damndest to ruin everybodys Xmas but he can’t win this one….death rates remain low so tough shit
Was speaking to a mate who works as a radiographer in one of the hospitals hete in Brum earlier too & he said theres hardly any people in there with it either (even at the peak of the pandemic they were all scratching around looking for work to do & were more busier doing the inane TikTok videos etc…same as at my hospital - the NHS never has been, and still isn’t,under any strain whatsoever)

Cool story and we'll add this to the "things that didn't happen" file.

Get help mate, you are going on here at all hours making up bigger and bigger lies.

Woke up with the symptoms today but no Rona on the test so had a Paracetamol and an extra hoodie for work.

Get a pcr done if you want peace of mind if you’re going to be around higher risk family/friends over Xmas (and don’t mind fucking up Xmas plans !). LFs weren’t picking up mine before or after positive pcr. Your call though ultimately

Will give it a couple of hours, I think I am just getting old rather than COVID.

PCR is the only one you're supposed to take with symptoms isn't it? Isn't the LFT for people without symptoms to check before they go somewhere?

It's madness that he thinks people will actually believe the bollocks he comes out with. UHCW had twice as many covid patients in ICU than they originally had ICU beds but no not busy at all.

Yes but I guess you could get a PCR sent to you if you don't have symptoms but it's a 3 day turnaround from them sending it to you to the latest you should get results

Greggs stories are better but at least he's being funny, I'm not sure if you believe this crap yourself!

On the 15th September, we were effectively back to normal with no restrictions at all and the UK recorded 201 covid deaths. We were about halfway from second jabbing the 20-30 year old range

Last Wednesday we recorded 164 deaths, with mask wearing back and Omricon in the UK for about two weeks. In those two weeks cases increased daily from 45k to 78k on the 15th December.

We had 84 deaths the weekend just gone (Saturday + Sunday) and 220 during the weekend of September 18th + 19th

I can't help feel this has been massively overhyped by the media

Isn’t it the media who are reporting the stats you’ve just quoted? Unless you have another source?

Yeah, but it’s tricky with the change of symptoms now. Do people go straight for pcr with a runny nose for example ? From personal experience in the summer the LF showed positive just as symptoms were coming on. This was on the Tuesday and I reckon I’d caught it on the Friday. I don’t think they pick up much in advance of symptoms very well. Currently no symptoms, negative LFs but positive PCR (only took it trying to do the right thing as I’d seen cardiologist same day as I got pinged and thought I should let them know if positive - last time I’m selfless !!! 🤷‍♂️)

ps after getting pinged, it checked Im double vaccinated and said I only need to do daily LFs, rather than self isolate however, it then recommends a PCR to basically do my bit. Basically the advice has changed regarding self isolation, symptoms are changing and I personally wonder how accurate LFs are if you’re asymptotic with Omicron (if had booster etc this is more likely). If people are uncertain if they’ve got it, are due to be around high risk and want extra peace of mind Id suggest PCR. Just my personal view

Of course it has been overhyped. Trying to scare as many people as possible.

It's a distraction.
