Imagine living in a foreign country working a shitty job on minimum wage. Worried about you family back home in Italy or Spain when someone gives you this. They're live in staff as well so lose their accommodation and, according to the news reports earlier, some can't even travel back to their home countries because of restrictions.
When I took the mat cover they gave me the option of going back to my old role. I had done it for 4 years and was of the opinion that someone else might do a different job...fresh pair of eyes and all that. And I had done it for 4 years so was ready for a new challenge. How come you’d be at risk now, just out of sight out of mind or something?
Cheers JBSorry to hear that. I’ll raise a glass for him/her tonight.

The colleague that I'm covering for is coming back end of May and theres a freeze on recruitment. Pre-Corona, I was confident that I'd be fine. Now I'm not certain and have been told by one boss to consider looking externally. A bit worrying to be honest.

But you look for something to bash even when there is an offer of covering 80% of wages.who is lying? Points- it’s a football messageboard pal, you may be overthinking it. And as for Boris bashing, if someone is doing a shit job would you rather we all pretend he’s doing ok?
I have thanks Astute and have discussed it with my wife. Going to see what happens and go down that route if needs be.Have you seen about the mortgage holiday?

This shouldn't be about propaganda. Boris is a twat. Agreed. But it shouldn't be a party political broadcast for the Labour party.
You won't be taking away from others. The offer is there for all. Use it to put a few extra quid in the bank. Nobody knows what will happen next.I have thanks Astute and have discussed it with my wife. Going to see what happens and go down that route if needs be.
I don't want to take away from others more in need so will see how the next few weeks play out.

Britannia is owned by Alex Langsam, one of the richest men in the country said to be worth about £250m by the Times Rich List. Surprise surprise he's a non taxpayer who since 1999 has been registered as living in Austria for tax-purposes. And to top it all off he made a decent chunk of his fortune off taxpayers money by housing asylum seekers in the hotels. That’s the one- one of the employees was interviewed, he is Spanish & literally had to spend the night in a tent as he’s skint and stranded here. And the hotel itself was only about 20% occupied.
Dislike all but only bash Boris.I haven’t said a single word about that because I don’t know enough about it, the details etc. I also haven’t bashed that one single bit because the more help the better. My issue was/is the communication and disjointedness of our approach, and the fact we are woefully underprepared while he blusters away. I’m not labour by the way, I dislike all of them.
Its fucking heartbreaking tbh.Imagine living in a foreign country working a shitty job on minimum wage. He isn't the expert here. Yet it us all supposed to be about what he decides unless it is good. Then suddenly where is the money supposed to come from ti help people.
Thanks RoS. You've nailed it...it's just the uncertainty. I had a chat with my boss on Monday and said that I wasnt concerned previously but now I am. I had submitted a proposal (pre coronavirus) about extending our department by one as I think theres more we can do in terms of new business etc. I think that can will be kicked down the road (which I understand) so I've said I'm happy to firefight with other positions that need filling.I understand. I wish you all the best- it sounds like you’re highly valued so all may well be ok, it’s the uncertainty isn’t it.

Waiting to see what happens.
Like I said though...the main thing is that me, my wife and my boy are healthy. That's keeping me going!! More people in a lot worse situation. Chin up and all that.

I think you’ll find I’ve done plenty of expert bashing and said more than once that Corbyn would be awful and is coming across very badly during all this. Apparently the chancellor is coming across well but I can’t comment on that either. But you have to call a spade a spade, Johnson has hardly come across well.
Do they sing his name to the white Stripes too? Some people get very touchy if you aren’t praising Boris 24/7, it’s as weird as those mental old ladies that write Corbyn poetry.
Absolutely, there's more than just a couple as well. Fuckers. There needs to be a list of every company who has been dicks to employees and ones trying to rip customers off and then when this is over they still have to stay closed

What Martin did takes the biscuit, I’m no lawyer but encouraging people to do something which could kill people feels dangerously close to criminal- he wants locking up.Absolutely, there's more than just a couple as well. Fuckers.
There are a lot of good people out there who are doing above and beyond. However there are some absolute shitbags who are either trying to profit, or they're treating their fellow human beings like shite.

Same with piers Morgan encouraging people to bulk buy. Causing panic. What Martin did takes the biscuit, I’m no lawyer but encouraging people to do something which could kill people feels dangerously close to criminal- he wants locking up.

Indeed, he's one of the uber cunts for sure. What Martin did takes the biscuit, I’m no lawyer but encouraging people to do something which could kill people feels dangerously close to criminal- he wants locking up.
This argument has been made a few times and could be credibleI think one thing that the govt has done is well is psychologically sold the idea of an impending lockdown. If they've had gone balls first into lockdown on Monday, they'd have been massive push back and resentment (see Boris's dad's comment on going to the pub for example). But 5 days later, shutting pubs/clubs/etc is met with an 'about time' view.
They had to get buy-in to make it work. Lockdown is inevitable, it's just a matter of when. Yes, they'll still be the bravado brigade (copyright the name of my new band) but peer pressure will succeed.
You can argue about whether herd immunity was a tactic, whether they should have substituted social movements earlier, but I think we have the right set-up now (sorry, blatantly slipped into football cliches there...).

Or drive us insaneKeep staying safe lads. Gonna be hard to make it to the other side. This place might keep a few people sane.
This is the strategy SBD. I think it’s in the imperial report. There are two ends to this, vaccine or eventual herd immunity, via the suppression and then loosening of measures, followed by measures again (I don’t want to consider the third)
The key in the meantime appears to be the test that would confirm if you’ve had corona (not just if you’ve got it). If they can get this into circulation (and it’s found that you can’t subsequently infect post recovery or unlikely catch it again) then gradually more and more of the population can operate normally.
A lot of ifs and buts in there but from what the chief medical/scientific officers are saying that’s as good as it gets at the moment (in conjunction with finding drugs that better combat the virus - which will also be discovered no doubt)
It might be worth putting adverts on TV.
Escapism helps- movies, TV shows, anything like that. The most worrying thing is mental health, this could affect a lot more people mentally than physically I’m already getting anxious. It really has started to sink in that nobody really knows what the next few weeks will hold
