The BBC have done an article on the possibility of reopening schools according to an Imperial professor. He says keeping them shut reduces the death rate by ‘only 3-4%’. What does it say when measures are dismissed because they don’t save *enough* lives?
3-4% of the UK population is 2 million people. Obviously not every one in the country will get the virus but even if only a quarter did that would still be 500k deaths. What an utterly insane suggestion.

I'm kind of in that mindset whilst always remembering we are Cov, and bad stuff happens to us
Yeh I'm trying to shake off the 'its Cov, it must go wrong' thing. Its difficult but to fuck us they'd have to fuck a lot of other teams too, so hopefully safety in numbers.

I've hardly criticised the government for the way they've handled it.
I've criticised them for how under prepared we are.
The couldn't have seen it coming rhetoric is a smokescreen.
As I have asked repeatedly, why, going into the crisis, did Germany have almost 5 time as many beds per 100,000 as the UK?

I think what you've said is completely reasonable to be honest. I agree with it.

I'm not sure about Germany though. The virus is pretty much the same everywhere, I don't understand their situation. In fact I would go so far as to say I don't believe it.

Schools should have been closed sooner. We are working on an assumption of being shut for most of if not all of the summer term. This guy talking about reopening while 500-1000 die per day isn’t in the real world

The German system requires a funding model as i understand it where higher earners pay for a service. I’ve advocated this but my suspicion is the country is so conditioned to it being “free” that it will once again be shouted down as a privatisation ruse
People keep comparing German & UK health systems. Funded differently, adminstered differently.
People also keep mistaking % of GDP spent on the respective services with Govt spending.

It's irrelevant to me, we shouldn't be so far behind them. It's not acceptable as far I'm concerned

Tony that’s like saying it was a proud moment for all Labour supporters in 2009 when Jacque Smith denied the Police their pay award from the previously binding Police Arbitration panel, and for the first time ever the Police tried to change law to be able to strike.

That arguments bullshit, as they all fuck over the emergency services when it suits them.

Agree with that to an extent, the last Labour government introduced the Gershon review and various other 'efficiency' drives into the public sector, rarely paid inflationary pay increases albeit paid more than the pitiful increases of the last 10 years. Let him without sin cast the first stone and all that.....but....they didn't underfund services overall like the post 2010 governments have.

300 pages ago he was saying the whole thing was social media hyperbole and the other European countries were stupid for going into lock down. It's hard not to argue with somebody who says such ridiculous things, especially when he continually has the audacity to try and paint everyone else as the idiots.

Clap for Boris? Fuck off you virtue signalling cunts.

I hope we gets well soon but why the fuck do people gave to be attention seeking cunts.
I actually find it quite repulsive to clap for a man who’s part of the regime that has systematically fucked the NHS over for ten years having clapped for that very NHS with my wife and kids the last two weeks.

Hope he makes a full recovery and all that but I’ll be watching TV.

Gove now isolating.
Is there a case for bringing a few senior Tories in, perhaps one of their ex PMs?
Whatever anyone thinks of this cabinet it's inexperienced and increasingly short on numbers.

I think thats why had the epic meltdown- defending the indefensible for such a prolonged period would send anyone a bit nuts.

Trump is going big on it. His experts are saying limited success in a limited number of cases. He even stopped one of them answering a question about it the other night in his live briefing saying he’d already answered it and the reporter said that he wanted to ask the expert and Trump stopped it. This is the same Trump who was making a point of shaking hands while saying that this is the latest Democrats hoax. Still, what harm ever came from shaking hands in the middle of a pandemic.
