Less than three hundred travellers quarantined out of 18 M travellers arriving in UK prior to lockdown.

Coronavirus: Millions entered UK in three months before lockdown but just 273 were quarantined
just ridiculous. Must have been large numbers in March coming back from the likes of Spain, France and Italy. Even with traffic down 99% mother;s friend wasn't checked here.
Here everybody managing to get in in the last 6 or so weeks has compulsory 14 day self-quarantine. Big red sticker on the front door and police are by to check regularly. Huge fines if you're not there and 2 or 3 times then you're off to jail. And we have a lot more border points etc than the UK.

No border force staff though

I think this is the single reason why we are having so many issues.

Why on earth are we in lockdown when we have flights coming in from around the world without anyone being checked? It's an absolute joke.

I've been on flight radar 24 a lot and there are flights coming in from the USA, Italy and China every day.

I can never get used to red and blue meaning the opposite in the states.
Looking at that a lot of the big Trump lead states were last polled before lockdown. Will be interesting to see how they change if at all.
Yep they’ll go Trump because he’s so clever and taken every decision and got those correct every time

Ok heres a left-field far-out crazy prediction for you all.... Trump will use a 2nd wave lockdown to postpone elections if the polling is not in his favour....

a video popped up on my Twitter of a monkey riding a motorbike trying to steal a child, it's 2020, nothing is far out crazy any more.

Fucking hell. The media are agents for this bunch of crooks.

no one could have gone in to journalism wanting to be as shit at their jobs as they are, what happened to change them?
Anyone who cares about democracy and accountability should be appalled no matter what their political leaning.

do you know where he is? I though he was delaying his paternity leave?

I would imagine he is prowling around the Houses of Parliament looking for his next victim as he must be bored with this woman now he has been with her for at least 9 months or maybe the useless fucker is looking for my missing results

You live in Hungary right? I'm supposed to be going to Budapest on 12th June. Do you think there is any chance?

As for your points, I totally agree. I have been observing flight radar regularly and we have flights coming in from all sorts of places every day without checking the passengers.

It makes lockdown entirely pointless.

Florida is a key one. If he continues to record badly there and the other bigger swing states he’s got a problem - no big rallies will hamper him and this virus will still be big headlines by then I’d have thought. Second lockdown and delayed election being strategised probably

As much as I think the lockdown could end up ruining the country in the long run if it’s here too long, having an extra 3 weeks could be the difference between never having to lockdown again or bringing the measures back in as the numbers start rising.... the only thing is it’s so unpredictable because Germany have lifted lots and they are getting better and better in terms of the numbers going down, it’s a tough one
I fear we're heading for lifting. Personally I tend to go for the act in haste... approach, and I'd be a lot happier with another three weeks, as it'd allow us to see how other places were coping - bear in mind there's a lag in getting the data.

Not only that, but some places are easing off from a stricter base. Pipkin's being allowed out on a walk, but we've never been stopped from doing that.

A clear strategy would, IMHO, articulate that we're giving it three weeks as-is, and here are the plans afterwards... *as long as the data follows the path as predicted*. If it doesn't, lockdown will be extended. Persuade people it's in their interests to follow the rules for just a bit longer, as it's better for them in the long run.

We did something half baked and people are getting bored so the government is caving

I saw a headline somewhere briefly that suggested that the seeding of the virus here was people returning from Italy and Spain in February.

I have to say, I'm on the Manchester Airport flight path and I've only seen one or two flights in the last few weeks.

I’m talking about the minority causing disruption
That's the government's responsibility to enforce - they don't do it very well atm.

As a linked aside, cars parked for Coombe Abbey just after the end of the cones - blocking the footpath so people certainly wouldn't be able to pass each other, and in the road enough that the van in front of me had to stop to wait for cars coming in the opposite direction.

Now I hope somebody drives into them all while they're parked there!

That wouldn't surprise me totally but in reality pandora's box was open when we left our borders open too long. I suppose that includes people returning from Italy etc, but it will also largely be citizens from those countries too.

Have a look on flight radar 24. There are still flights from China coming into Heathrow daily.

Most UK airports have almost no flights but there are still quite a few coming into LHR.

Out of interest, how many of those are passenger flights, as opposed to flights importing goods?

(Genuine question, no motive to ask!)

So what does everybody think will be announced this weekend then in terms of the ‘exit plan’

I think we might get another 3 weeks of what we are in now and the 1st of June is when things will ease off alot

I hope - another 3 weeks of lockdown.

There might then be some kind of gradual return.. not sure which sector you begin in though.

There is talk about schools starting to re-open which is ludicrous IMO. Impossible to socially distance in them and would probably be front and centre in causing another wave and possible further lockdowns. Trouble is you have clowns like Toby Young ‘sharing’ his expertise with the government.... for the sake of our kids and our health this might be the one time teaching unions get a bit more credit when they try and block this.

Pretty much every single one coming into Heathrow is passenger believe it or not.

Compared to normal there are hardly any but still enough to be concerned if no one is being checked.

I do find it very odd indeed if there's no screening process. Would be ludicrous if the place with most relaxed restrictions is the place with people you know least about!
