Wasn't the contract for the track and trace app awarded without being put out to tender?

yep, to a company with Dominic Cummings’ sister on the board. This after it emerged that he’s doctoring his previous articles to make it look like he knew about coronavirus before it happened- that’s all over Twitter. We already knew that it was his wife’s birthday on the day they drove 30 miles to a tourist spot in order to “test his eyes”, at the same time she was writing articles about how he was unable to breathe & what lockdown in London was like.

Still, I’m sure he was telling the absolute truth today.

Jesus the muck and sleaze is everywhere now, maybe I was wrong and he won’t survive, all kinds of stuff coming out now. Cummings’ sister is a director of the company that runs postal votes and the track and trace app

The replies to the tweet say that it isn't a relation, just someone that shares the surname.

so I see- there’s so much stuff out there now I don’t know if it’s true or not. If it isn’t I’ll travel to Durham to apologise to his family for the smear on his good name, get stopped and I’ll just tell the police I had to travel in order to check if my ankle is healed or something.

There's a fair bit of Brexit fundamentalism out there too.

Tbh Brexit had barely crossed my mind for a couple of months!

Sky trying to doorstep his parents. No need for that.
It's not their fault their sons an arrogant toss pot. (well maybe it is but still no need).

it’s obvious Cummings has been made to do this as an act of humiliation to try and force him to resign - it’s excruciating and cruel in equal measure

Oh boo fucking hoo.

The right really are the pathetic snowflakes that they claim to hate.

I hope it was humiliating, excruciating and cruel for him. It wasn't though because he's an arrogant, callous arsehole.

What is excruciating and cruel is people not being allowed to visit their relatives before they died, while this prick was off out celebrating his wife's birthday.

I can't believe you're trying to play the sympathy card for Cummings, utterly pathetic.

Seem to remember this being defended by certain people at the time as well who were insistent that cancelling events was not necessary, nevermind locking down:

every cabinet minister defending Cummings did exactly the same when Fergusons transgression hit the media.

Yep and I believe Hancock called for the police to get involved with Neil Ferguson, who didn't even leave his home, but happy to defend Cummings for what he did.

Embarrassing.

Yeah the hate for the media from the Brexiters and Johnson fan boys is now visceral so they need to conduct themselves with the upmost integrity and not give them any ammunition.

Can't believe I've been agreeing with Piers Morgan of late.

Grimes is a proper weasel

Piers genuinely seems to have had a bit of an internal revaluation and now loathes the culture war. Of course, it’s perfectly possible he’s doing it from cynicism.

I see Julia Hartley Brewer has also turned against them and is getting significant pushback from her radicalised followers who are furious for not towing the line.

Piers Morgan is a c**t, but he’s right about the tribal nature of politics recently. Since Brexit it’s just about defending your team, faux outrage, and intellectual dishonesty.

Very depressing. People genuinely don’t seem to understand how democracy works, what roles the press and opposition play constitutionally.

It’s so easy to see how atrocities happen, and at best it lets poor politicians off the hook.

As I've said before, most issues we debate/argue about on here don't actually affect us directly.
This has affected everyone and some more than others. If Morgan is to be believed he has been separated from his children and his parents.

there is just no end to the subterfuge and deceit, is there. At least we all now know what was long suspected, Boris is clearly just a moronic mouthpiece puppet for people like Cummings.

No, I disagree with you. I find the idea that the Tories are somehow merely innocent fronts for people like Cummings is wrong.

That's not what happened skip, it was said that outdoor events were considered low risk compared to enclosed gatherings.

spot on. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't been guilty of it myself but I'm trying to move away from it because it's toxic and highly unproductive.

Listening to Stephen Baker's interview on BBC Sunday morning, (I'm fairly sure he was the first Tory to go public with criticism), he basically said Cummings is not as influential as people think. Was he telling the truth though?

A lot of perfectly intelligent, rational people get caught up in it. I did myself for years until I realised it was just driving everyone apart and was largely manufactured.

I’ve got a couple of close mates who are smart guys who have been drawn into all of the criticism of the LGBTQ communities. The gateway for them? Jordan fucking Peterson and the rabbit whole of American libertarian YouTube that sends you down. (That kind of stuff needs it’s own thread).
