every cabinet minister defending Cummings did exactly the same when Fergusons transgression hit the media.

Yep and I believe Hancock called for the police to get involved with Neil Ferguson, who didn't even leave his home, but happy to defend Cummings for what he did.

Embarrassing.

Sky trying to doorstep his parents. No need for that.
It's not their fault their sons an arrogant toss pot. (well maybe it is but still no need).

Yeah the hate for the media from the Brexiters and Johnson fan boys is now visceral so they need to conduct themselves with the upmost integrity and not give them any ammunition.

Can't believe I've been agreeing with Piers Morgan of late.

Grimes is a proper weasel

Piers genuinely seems to have had a bit of an internal revaluation and now loathes the culture war. Of course, it’s perfectly possible he’s doing it from cynicism.

I see Julia Hartley Brewer has also turned against them and is getting significant pushback from her radicalised followers who are furious for not towing the line.

Piers Morgan is a c**t, but he’s right about the tribal nature of politics recently. Since Brexit it’s just about defending your team, faux outrage, and intellectual dishonesty.

Very depressing. People genuinely don’t seem to understand how democracy works, what roles the press and opposition play constitutionally.

It’s so easy to see how atrocities happen, and at best it lets poor politicians off the hook.

As I've said before, most issues we debate/argue about on here don't actually affect us directly.
This has affected everyone and some more than others. If Morgan is to be believed he has been separated from his children and his parents.

there is just no end to the subterfuge and deceit, is there. At least we all now know what was long suspected, Boris is clearly just a moronic mouthpiece puppet for people like Cummings.

No, I disagree with you. I find the idea that the Tories are somehow merely innocent fronts for people like Cummings is wrong.

Seem to remember this being defended by certain people at the time as well who were insistent that cancelling events was not necessary, nevermind locking down:

That's not what happened skip, it was said that outdoor events were considered low risk compared to enclosed gatherings.

Posts are still there if you want

spot on. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't been guilty of it myself but I'm trying to move away from it because it's toxic and highly unproductive.

Listening to Stephen Baker's interview on BBC Sunday morning, (I'm fairly sure he was the first Tory to go public with criticism), he basically said Cummings is not as influential as people think. Was he telling the truth though?

A lot of perfectly intelligent, rational people get caught up in it. I did myself for years until I realised it was just driving everyone apart and was largely manufactured.

I’ve got a couple of close mates who are smart guys who have been drawn into all of the criticism of the LGBTQ communities. The gateway for them? Jordan fucking Peterson and the rabbit whole of American libertarian YouTube that sends you down. (That kind of stuff needs it’s own thread).

He must be incredibly influential, or surely they would have just sacked him rather than go through this whole carry on with the Prime Minister and Cabinet basically admitting that they value him over public health guidance.

Either Cummings has a load of dirt on them all (quite possible) or Boris literally cannot run the country without him (also quite possible).

Something certainly isn’t right. They are falling over themselves to rewrite history and lie to the public to protect him. Having said that, from why I’ve seen, half the public are clapping along and calling Cummings a legend. They just view it as their “side” winning against the MSM so maybe the government don’t feel it’s a risk at all, arguably it will galvanise them further.

he lives in a big North London house, his wife comes from aristocracy and writes for the main stream media and his parents live on a fair sized north east estate.
Anyone who thinks he's anti MSM, anti elite is an absolute fucking cretin.

Oh boo fucking hoo.

The right really are the pathetic snowflakes that they claim to hate.

I hope it was humiliating, excruciating and cruel for him. It wasn't though because he's an arrogant, callous arsehole.

What is excruciating and cruel is people not being allowed to visit their relatives before they died, while this prick was off out celebrating his wife's birthday.

I can't believe you're trying to play the sympathy card for Cummings, utterly pathetic.

He got to where he was by spreading all kinds of lies and misinformation. Yesterday was like a Twitter troll being made to go outside-awkward, weedy and socially inept.

If he's not influential, he'd have surely been cast aside by now, though?

(Unless there's a cunning plan! Now, where's that app?)

Yep. Seen a couple of mates go that way. Anti-SJW stuff is always the gateway.

Gove has been really really shit.

The tories seem to think he's really good at things like this.

He isn't and his objectionable personality makes people turn against him.

Yep, it’s always the SJW stuff. As I said, needs a thread. I got close to being caught up in it years ago and have seen reasonable friends buy into it completely.

Seems the obvious candidate to replace Johnson when he inevitably goes (sooner rather than later you'd imagine).

Yay. Lucky us.

I'm getting bombarded with emails from Ryanair about holidays with a lot of European borders open from July 1st.

Problem is that work are forcing me to take 50% of my holiday by the end of June.

They then say that we are lucky to still have jobs and shouldn't complain as we could have been furloughed.

Absolute joke. Even the people in my company that have been furloughed can actually go on holiday, but I'm a prisoner in my own country!

Apparently if you’re furloughed you technically haven’t taken the bank holidays and get them when you come back to work?

Spain is opening its international boards in July (no exact date given) to allow tourists from Germany and France. We have had no news about opening the border to allow UK tourists in.
Most businesses in my town rely on UK and Irish tourist only.
