Didn't he also claim that the only reason Italy was so bad was because of some illegal Chinese migrants and that it was an anomaly against the rest of Europe?

Guess we can't all be on the extreme levels of rational debate that Grendel deploy on here daily. Whether it's the constant whataboutery, the intentional misrepresentation of other's argument or, my personal favourite, just saying 'that's irrelevant' whenever he know he's wrong, it's truly an honour to be in the presence of such a master debater.

He should be a politician

The situation in the UK is more of a restriction of movement rather than an actual lockdown, IMO.
It is ‘but the very small percentage of people not heeding the Government advice are now being used
As a convenient object of blame by the Government ‘for the horrific levels of infections and deaths we
Are now seeing.

I don’t like the guy but if he’s jogging around a park with nobody else anywhere near him, is that really such a terrible thing? I don’t know the specifics over there, aren’t you allowed out to exercise long as you observe the rules?

Not sure ‘but I thought he’d been locking down as he’d had symptoms

Actually it’s not because you haven’t made any claims yet, you’re telling porkies again ;)

Yes your constant accusations regarding the schemes are lies the rules are very clearly laid out. Oh and the actual date of the system opening (which we’d already discussed when you made up the cash flow audit measurements) is likely to be later than the date on the system so I’m sure your can fabricate some more anti establishment rhetoric off the back of it

haha coming from the person who claimed the Russian military were imposing the lockdown in Italy.

I didn’t claim that but we can carry on

Indeed. However I’m still quite interested to know which portal you used to make the claims to the government (that you told everyone you’d made), when the portal is not active yet?

errr, you did, as well as saying that Italy were “panicking”, but that they are unique because they exploit lots of cheap imported Chinese labour in their fashion industry. Then someone pointed out thats about 200km away from the outbreak and that theory was quickly & silently dropped- but what’s the point in any of this, I’ll leave you to it.

Ive said we’ve been assured the scheme will be as per the rules very clearly laid out and those people fitting the criteria there is no issues with. Given you claimed you’d been told this scheme is a low and is a loan not a grant at all then we can tic tac all we like - I mean as you are an accountant I’m sure you’ve looked at the rules haven’t you? Or are you a construction worker this week or is it a specialist on financial services? You seem to have lots of different jobs so it’s hard to know which one I’m talking to today

Not quite sure where you’ve heard (or how you’ve interpreted) that. There’s constant re-enforcing of the self isolation message and an underlying narrative that if the public don’t follow the current measures stronger ones could be implemented, however, all I’ve heard by enlarge, is praise for a majority of public’s response to date

So basically you are now confirming that you lied when you explicitly said you’d claimed already. No problem.

I know you're bored, stuck inside, but I have to say on both sides of tge argument, you're nothing more than petty point scoring pricks. Reading through it really is embarrassing. Try to leave this thread, it's unhealthy and about as useful as the ridiculously lengthy Brexit one. We know which side of the fence you're on, yet some of you have to kedp reminding us by posting on every single page. Have a wank, go for a run, speak to your family, watch Netflix but ffs get off this thread. Imagine if you contract Covid and your last 2 weeks were spent arguing on here?

His daughter had symptoms and they were supposed to be self isolating but he got her queue jumped for a test ahead of NHS staff. I’m guessing she didn’t have it.

She didn’t have it, Gove is a disgusting little weasel who has cheated the system when thousands of nhs staff haven’t been checked yet and most of them have a far more pressing need than him and his family.

The death con with Coronavirus is the same as other viruses so will be the same everywhere - it’s why flu deaths have massive ranges depending on what you read

Also lockdowns are going to always have issues as Italy are acknowledging - they are saying that many are flaunting the rules and now the Russian military is going to enforce it

Germany has not had a full lockdown but a very small amount of deaths
@Grendel just to remind you.

Looks like they’ll still be more locked down than us. Just some factory workers and other jobs going in, lockdown still in place generally.

Anyone got any data on how many people are still working in each country? I get the impression a fair few still are here but it’s hard to tell beyond anecdotes.
My place will stay open whatever happens. The places that supply us are all over Europe. They are staying open. They will be counted as suppliers for those making hygiene products.

But I have mates that were informed they are key workers but are now not working. New rules are made that don't reach the news.

I was referring to an underclass of Chinese workers which is of course accurate
You blamed the Tuscan community for the outbreak in Lombardia, it’s like blaming a community in Sheffield for an outbreak in London.
It’s a narrative that’s been pushed by the far-right.

Cheers SB. Just started my second night shift of my birthday. At least I have been able to go out for it :D

Have you got the good weather? And are you able to enjoy it in any way?
Yeah it slowly climbed up to just under 30c yesterday but back down to 25c today. We have a small terrace so have been able to enjoy it enough but of course it’s not the same.
From tomorrow they’ve actually removed a restriction in Veneto so we can finally go for a walk if we are alone and wearing a mask and gloves, better than nothing I suppose!!
I reckon by the end of June everything will be reopened again and I expect to be back in the office in a month’s time.
How are your family getting on in France?
