Even my betfair has now become an admin chore..... fuck you covid
Yes most people may have mild symptoms but the larger spread could lead to more in hospital.
To use someone else's figures yet again:
Variant a infects 10 people and 1 of those people ends up in hospital
Variant b infects 50 people and 2 end up in hospital
Variant a is a more severe variant of the virus but variant b due to the transmission rate actually leads to more people ending up in hospital.
This has been explained countless times on here as well
LFT is only 50% accurate, although it is rare to get a false positive on a LFT. There was a good post on twitter the other day about the accuracy of LFTs, I'll try and find it.I don't think I had covid, I think I had a cold and the LFT says I'm negative. What I'm saying is would a PCR test say the same thing? Plenty of cases (including a post today) where a LFT is negative but a PCR is positive

Had a silly little cold since last Tuesday, usually I’ll shake off a cold after 2-3 days. As far as colds can go, it’s piss poor, barely noticeable. It’s now just mainly a tickle cough.
LFT tests and PCR both negative, but I still get suspicious and pissed off glances if I cough in the shop. Don’t really think PCR is that reliable either tbh.
That last point respectfully is nonsense
Is it?
Coronavirus...you can go now...Yeah think we spoke before about how big a miss live gigs were during the lockdowns....
....worse than no football for me personally.
The only positive I took from it was then when they were allowed again, the atmosphere and buzz were fantastic....proper old skool life-affirming in the moment gigs....
Lovely eggs and Jarvis my 2 stand outs from the gigs I've seen since/during covid....
Yes, given that it is able to detect viral DNA instead of just the spike protein and has been around as a technique for decades. If anything the bigger risk is a false positive depending on how many times the reaction cycle is done
The thing is though, people will see the list of symptoms and think they have it. Runny nose, aching, scratchy throat.
Imagine ringing a boss and saying they aren't going to work because they have a runny nose.
I'll be going to work regardless of how rough I feel and will do a lateral.
Nothing in life is certain, but a PCR test is as certain as you'll get.Just don’t particularly feel any of it can be 100% relied up on
So to confirm, if my lft says negative and I cough at Christmas will my grandparents die? (If they were alive)
This logic makes no sense whatsoever.I don't think I had covid, I think I had a cold and the LFT says I'm negative. What I'm saying is would a PCR test say the same thing? Plenty of cases (including a post today) where a LFT is negative but a PCR is positive

I'm getting a massive feeling of deja vu, my head tells me there won't be a lock down, (would end Johnson surely), but it just feels like the lead up to the first one.
I really don't fancy the prospect to say the least.
I didn't have any covid symptoms and my LFT was negative, therefore I don't have covid, correct? This logic makes no sense whatsoever.
PCR tests are far more sensitive compared to LFs, so you could unknowingly be spreading covid to others all because you’re worried about your big day being ruined.
Fucking hell.
No idea, you were the one going on about avoiding doing a PCR in case you tested positive.I didn't have any covid symptoms and my LFT was negative, therefore I don't have covid, correct?

Next varient. It's ok Pfizer are on it and saying you only need 5 more. When we get to the point that everyone who wants a booster has had one and everyone who has been offered the vaccine hasn't taken that offer, can we just say fk it and go back to normal? Otherwise what?!
Given that no other pandemic has killed off the human race or gone on forever presumably they burn out at some point. Not sure there's any reliable way of calculating how long that could take though. How long have previous pandemics lasted for? When we get to the point that everyone who wants a booster has had one and everyone who has been offered the vaccine hasn't taken that offer, can we just say fk it and go back to normal? You said you had a cold. We know the government haven't updated the guidance.I didn't have any covid symptoms and my LFT was negative, therefore I don't have covid, correct?
Anyone could be passing covid to anyone if they are asymptomatic, that's just the way it is with this virus
Well... here's an interesting page!Given that no other pandemic has killed off the human race or gone on forever presumably they burn out at some point. Not sure there's any reliable way of calculating how long that could take though. How long have previous pandemics lasted for?
Which means they country collapses because 95% are isolating until they can get a PCR.You said you had a cold. We know the government haven't updated the guidance.
Runny nose, headaches and fatigue are three of the most common early symptoms of Omicron.
Covid-19: Runny nose, headache, and fatigue are commonest symptoms of omicron, early data show
The UK government has been urged to update its list of symptoms for covid-19, after early data showed that cold-like symptoms were the most commonly reported by people with the new omicron variant. Data released on 16 December by the Covid Symptoms Study,1 run by the health science company Zoe...www.bmj.com

If we are serious about eliminating it and moving on we need to push to get the developing world vaccinated ASAP.When we get to the point that everyone who wants a booster has had one and everyone who has been offered the vaccine hasn't taken that offer, can we just say fk it and go back to normal? I am supposed to go to the US for work in February which I was looking forward to too, but I suspect by the time it comes round it won’t go ahead
I can tell you all now what to expect based on what is happening here, as the Netherlands has been about a month ahead of the same pattern which is emerging in the UK. I mentioned earlier in the week that I think there will be a lockdown in the UK and I still stand by that. Ours has been going on over a month now and has been extended until January 14th. It absolutely sucks and is bringing me down a bit because everything closes at 5pm. I am supposed to go to the US for work in February which I was looking forward to too, but I suspect by the time it comes round it won´t go ahead.
I decided now to stay here for Christmas too. Probably we should have a match day style thread for Christmas day and all the expats or people that are generally a bit alone and just have one big drinking session/argument extravaganza.
I'm fine, ta!@Houchens Head you alright?
