He got a standing ovation from some the other day for doing little.

People like him because he runs around a lot but is there sufficient evidence that he’s actually contributing positively to results?

He got us up the pitch multiple times and made their keeper shit himself and panic. He doesn't give the defenders time to think. He defends from the front well.

I'm not saying he's the next r9 but if lampard wants to play with a press then he's going to pick him. If he adds goals then he will be a great player.

I think Wright might come in and play central though when he's fit.

The issue is that Simms just can't seem to lead the line and get goals or keep up the press.

Forgive me if “getting us up the pitch” against the donkeys of Plymouth doesn’t exactly go down as a win in my book.

Why so polarised? I like Bassette, think he could be a great player for us, just don’t think he’s ready to be playing the amount he is yet and Simms should be playing more.

That’s exactly it, there’s a bit of nuance to be considered that seems beyond the minds of many.

Rather tenuous. Into Sheaf was a decent pass sure but I don’t give him much credit for Eccles scoring a 20 yarder lol

Seems like you don't give him much credit at all.

No pass to EMC, no lay off, no goal.

Good player with a big future who's movement helps the team enormously. You'd think people on here would get fed up of players making them eat their words but I'm certain he'll be another that makes them do it.
Yep his movement as well.

Was it Millwall last time where emc scored at the far post after bassette had literally wrestled their defender out of the way for him?

Just needs to add more goals into his game and maybe his decision making in box and like when he was through against Pompey. Bit of composure.

Yeh absolutely his finishing could be better and will be, but I can't remember the last time we had a 20 year old who looked this good, IMO the talent is obvious.

Remind us how we performed against the donkeys of Portsmouth?

We made Plymouth look poor because we gave far more than we did in the previous game, and actually converted our chances.

It might not be a win in your book, but as normal your in a minority of one.

Bassette will develop most from playing games and getting as many minutes as possible. You can't just do it on the training ground.
He needs to improve and he definitely will, Simms reputation is improving from not playing. If he wants to start when he does come on he needs to do more. We have all said at times he needs to use his physical attributes more, if getting dropped can't force him to do that then it just backs Bassette is the better option right now.

He was spunking himself silly after the Plymouth win. Love how it’s “only Plymouth” when it suits his agenda

…yes?

Bassette got his goal then spent the afternoon missing chances, throwing himself to the floor and being offside.
