Won’t look too full im sure me and at least 8 other season ticket holders on holiday and I guess many more too. Not sure in August the gate will be anywhere near the actual crowd

But equally, more people can attend a game in August for being off work/school.

And yet he provided the 1 defence splitting pass that decided the match on Tuesday.

The one goal we've scored so far in 3 hours of football was put on a plate by Palmer, no one else, just Palmer.

No Bristol player could do likewise. No other City player could manage it, despite fielding half our squad.
Defence splitting? Come on, it was a fairly routine pass.

If you want to get yourself up for tomorrow, have a look at this from an Oxford fan ! (will sing WLADITT with a bit more gusto at kick off).

**k em mate. f**k Coventry. All they're famous for is getting bombed in World War II.

I thought we would take more if I'm honest, as it looks like somewhere between 1,500/2,000 will be going. Saturday 3pm and not on Sky, and we'd have sold out. I think it is a pretty unattractive game for our first game back up, but that shouldn't really matter. I reckon we'll see that tomorrow's Oxford crowd will be many from a certain age, like you and me, who've waited a long time for this and are determined not to miss a minute of this season. I think a lot of the younger generation, who've only been going a few years, might not realise just how significant this game is?

What I do know is that when God handed out birthrights I'm f*****g glad mine said Oxfordshire on it and not Coventry. We'll be there, and we'll be proud, and if any Coventry t**t wants to try and take the P**s, bring it on. Lady Godiva can f**k off too.

They may have 20,000 more fans there than us, but at 10pm we'll have six more points than them, and be top of the league!
Now imagine that spoken their farmer accent and it sounds even more ridiculous.

i actually think Oxford will be ok this season but this bloke’s already drunk “6 more points” than anyone else.

Wouldn’t mind Lati for Thomas tbh. Don’t like Lati at RB or CM but I think he’s pretty solid at CB. Thomas’ passing has been absolutely woeful so far this season as well
Lati at CB is combative and positionally secure . Also is quite vocal as well .
Thomas has been underwhelming so far

Took a peek at their fan forum and they’re feeling very confident. Many of them feel they could draw or win the match. They’ve obviously strengthened over the summer and have recorded back to back 2-0 wins. To keep Sargent and Saenz of Norwich quiet and not concede is quite impressive.

it would be great if we could replicate our 6-2 win against them, but I will gladly take any kind of win. 3 points is all that matters.

Hi there folks. Oxford fan here.

Our toughest test tomorrow and certainly memories of how you utterly dismantled us last season, and you compounding a very bad run that we were already on. You looked excellent that day and showed us the standard to aspire to. Needless to say we are all very surprised 8 months later to be playing you in the same league. But after 25 years absence, plunging down to the conference, we are pretty happy just to be back and making up the numbers. You are clearly favourites tomorrow and many of you have perhaps rightly predicted a home victory.

There’s a little bit of harshness on this forum though about our away support for tomorrow. The permanent non student population of Oxford is 120,000. By contrast Coventry-Bedworth is three times that at 450,000. The average home support that you get is about three times more than us.

Our home support is 9000 so to bring nearly 1600 (20% of our home support) to you isn’t terrible on a Friday night sky tv game. it would be the equivalent of you taking about 5,000 to an away game.

A little additional context …in September 2018 you came to our place for a sky game and brought 774 fans (3% of current home support).

One of your lot was using rude language towards we humble Sky Blues fans, and disparaging our beloved city on an Oxfordshire themed Internet web forum.
Will you kindly have a word with this gentleman, take away the beers if necessary, and report back your success?

Safe travels if you are visiting. Remember: spend big when patroning in our many retail and eating and spiritous establishments to keep our burgeoning tourist economy alive, and enjoy a restful overnight stay at any of our many fine motor lodges. --not a representative of the local Chamber of Commerce

Oh, forgot to comment on match prediction. 0-0 draw, dodgy offside call against Simms or Wright. Or maybe a tidy 1-0 win courtesy of another Palmer worldy.

Fair points well made. And correct!
I believe it may be that its your first game back in this division at a ground that’s relatively close that is the issue.
