Hi there folks. Oxford fan here.

Our toughest test tomorrow and certainly memories of how you utterly dismantled us last season, and you compounding a very bad run that we were already on. You looked excellent that day and showed us the standard to aspire to. Needless to say we are all very surprised 8 months later to be playing you in the same league. But after 25 years absence, plunging down to the conference, we are pretty happy just to be back and making up the numbers. You are clearly favourites tomorrow and many of you have perhaps rightly predicted a home victory.

There’s a little bit of harshness on this forum though about our away support for tomorrow. The permanent non student population of Oxford is 120,000. By contrast Coventry-Bedworth is three times that at 450,000. The average home support that you get is about three times more than us.

Our home support is 9000 so to bring nearly 1600 (20% of our home support) to you isn’t terrible on a Friday night sky tv game. it would be the equivalent of you taking about 5,000 to an away game.

A little additional context …in September 2018 you came to our place for a sky game and brought 774 fans (3% of current home support).
Hope you guys are aware of the road closures after the game.
I’m a City fan living near Witney so manage to see Oxford a few time each season - lovely pies.

Most people just want something to take the piss out of I think 2k on Friday in the middle of school holidays is good.We will not play like last Saturday so expect us to be at it from the start. You have had a great start to the season and think you will stay up ,our attacking options are the best for years just need them to click but our defence looks shit so could be a few goals .I'm going for 3-1 and look forward to WLADITT.Good luck after tonight

Born in Cov but from 5 lived in Aston, nr Witney, early 70’s before moving back to the promised land in mid 80’s. Great era and area to grow up in as a kid.

One week Highfield Rd, next week old Manor Ground - I’ve always been Sky Blue but lots of old mates from that way who are Oxford fans.

I think we expected you to sell out your allocation seeing as it's your first away game in the championship for a quarter of a century, and it's not far to travel and there's no school or work the next morning.

We're expecting a tougher test than when we had your pants down back in January, and to be fair you've had a good start to the campaign following on from last seasons amazing achievement.

I'd be surprised if our extra quality and experience doesn't result in us picking up 3 points, but after tonight I wish you well and I'd be happy to see you stay up which I'm sure you will.

Ah yes, comparing a Sunday lunchtime game in 2018, 2 weeks after we played you in the League Cup and when our club was at it's lowest point to Oxford playing at their highest level in 24 years.

If you actually read the thread, most people are backing up what your own fans are saying. It's a suprise that you are bringing so few when you brought 3000 here in January.

Bringing up populations is amazing. Oxford is supposedly an affluent city. You are mentioning Bedworth? Oxfordshire has a population of 650,000 and just one football club.

Lats is a liability, almost gave away a penalty on Tuesday over nothing. Thomas was awful v Stoke but I'd stick with him. We still need an experienced pro at RCB to marshall the defence.

Eccles and Wright is an obvious choice to bring in tonight. Looking forward to seeing how EMC performs of the bench. Excited to potentially see a front 3 of EMC, BTA and Tavares coming on late in the game and running at a tired defence.

Just need a couple of things to click and speed up play and I think we'll win. Going for 3-0. Simms, Rudoni and Kitching

Blackbird Leys in Oxford is worse than anywhere in Cov.

Tend to agree. Very tough neighbourhood, or at least was.
Strangely, some of the worst violence I’ve seen inside a ground has been on the London Road end - quite bizarrely, a preseason friendly v Lincoln particularly sticks in the mind, around 80/81.

After 25 years away, we'd easily take 5k to an away game on a Friday night tbf

Looking at Oxford’s away attendances from last season they only averaged just over 1,000, tonight’s attendance will be 600+ more than that average figure.

Whilst most, including myself, imagined there would be more, I never expected a full away end and probably a max of 2,000.

Regardless they can bring 250 or 2,500, it doesn’t really matter to me. Three points is a must for us and hopefully we can send Oxford back home with a proper welcoming back to the 2nd tier.

If you want to get yourself up for tomorrow, have a look at this from an Oxford fan ! (will sing WLADITT with a bit more gusto at kick off).

**k em mate. f**k Coventry. All they're famous for is getting bombed in World War II.

I thought we would take more if I'm honest, as it looks like somewhere between 1,500/2,000 will be going. Saturday 3pm and not on Sky, and we'd have sold out. I think it is a pretty unattractive game for our first game back up, but that shouldn't really matter. I reckon we'll see that tomorrow's Oxford crowd will be many from a certain age, like you and me, who've waited a long time for this and are determined not to miss a minute of this season. I think a lot of the younger generation, who've only been going a few years, might not realise just how significant this game is?

What I do know is that when God handed out birthrights I'm f*****g glad mine said Oxfordshire on it and not Coventry. We'll be there, and we'll be proud, and if any Coventry t**t wants to try and take the P**s, bring it on. Lady Godiva can f**k off too.

They may have 20,000 more fans there than us, but at 10pm we'll have six more points than them, and be top of the league!
I love when they’re already rattled before the game imagine what they’ll be like after getting smashed (again) by a much bigger club, they may have a better Uni but we’ve got a Cathedral to spair!
