Haynes is poor but last night was one of his better games - he held concentration better then normal in defence. Physically and mentally he’s just too weak. I’m surprised robins didn’t bring on Stokes for the last 15. He’d have stood up much stronger for the goal and they were attacking the flank a lot. Reid and Haynes aren’t a great combination.
Haynes' step-over-thingy to set up the first goal would have been raved about had he done it in the Premiership. That was the most outrageous piece of skills I've ever seen in league 2, and probably league 1.
I expect it regularly from now on.

They wouldn’t have been raving about any other aspect of his play though

Mmmm, did you not go to Brighton? Haynes tried it once or twice there aswell and fell over first time and gave it away the other.

In the end he’s paid to defend and he’s just weak.
Indeed. Which is why I keep saying that if we want to progress the likes of Haynes and Burge need to go. Another 2 points that 1, if not both, have cost us again.
Not sure people would be overlooking it if we missed out on the playoff position's by 2 points. A sad state of affairs that some people will accept such mediocrity and are prepared to defend them aswell!:banghead:

Luton are 2nd and can be equally critical of their keeper/defence for our goals. It's league 2 mate, if you want better than mediocrity you're supporting, or should I say moaning incessantly about, the wrong team.

You should get yourself up the Etihad you'd be a lot happier.

Disagree for me I seen a battling positive performance last night which looked a constant threat. Sadly we tried to defend the game out in the second half which was only going to go one way. I would have been more disappointed if we had a similar display as Stanley and even last Saturday. If we take it to teams we will certainly be in the mix

We didn’t try and defend the game - we had no choice as they completely dominated possession.

Luton are a decent outfit so this result is not bad at all with all things considered , pre match would have thought getting a point was an achievement

Yeah, I don't believe we set out to defend. Luton just probed and utilised the flanks and did so at pace and that forced us back.

they did the same in the first half for a spell but we were able to battle our way through it and reasert ourselves. Just couldn't do it in the 2nd half, particularly down our right hand side.
Robins should have hooked Vincenti earlier without question.

Top Logic! We only have 3 fit centre halves, so lets change from a formation where we use 2 of them, to one where we use all 3 at the same time! Bravo

I didn't say we had to play 3 centre backs - I said play 3 at the back - which releases one defender (4 down to 3).
Wing backs may have to defend, but don't have to be regular defenders (e.g. Shipley)
Only have to do this if we're running short.
Is that clearer for you?

Yeah, they did a bit, but they also played a lot of long balls over the top for their forwards to run on to, while in the second half they kept the ball on the ground a lot more.

Mediocrity-Yep-isn’t that what I just said? And will continue to be while we continue to paper over the cracks with these halfwits in the team that eventually cost us as they have done this season/last night. It was the perfect opportunity to ditch the leftovers from last seasons nightmare in the summer, but somehow they continue to pull the wool over certain peoples eyes who unfortunately won’t tell it how it is.

Yes, it was the best game of the season and the first half certainly the best we have played all season in the league. Then 2 errors cost us which the first one being the turning point of the match.

Have you seen anything other than mediocrity in this league? You're fooling yourself if you think you're going to.
I've seen the top two in the last few weeks and haven't seen anything special in either of them, it's the nature of the league.

Although he battled (the least you'd expect) I wasn't that impressed with JCH's performance. Their centre back seemed to win nearly everything in the air, and I always felt something was more likely to happen when McNulty got the ball at his feet. Overall I thought Luton were one of the strongest sides I've seen all season in terms of an aerial presence.

I think his point is we shouldn’t offer new contracts to abject failures like Burge and Haynes or they find our level for us.

I actually thought Haynes was worse than people are making out last night, thought Burge was OK.
But I don't see a lot better, so I'm not sure how we can sign a better calibre of player given where we are.
Yes, we could have got rid but would we have been able to get better?
Let's be honest, Haynes was only meant to be understudy to Stokes but who could have foreseen how poor he'd be this season?

Although I love their tenacity, I think the DKEs have been found out just because of their lack of height - and we need to free up their wages/places within the squad. Shame - just both need to be half a foot taller.

Couldn't have been Biamou's fault, he's currently being interviewed by security services about the poisoning of that Skriptal fella.
Na, too busy waving at the crowd for all that.

Not in the first half they didn't . Not in terms of goal scoring opportunities either.

Yes, they have abolished the T, H and U down there.

Come on you 'aa'ers' - I was laughing with my mate about the inability to sound the T, during the Luton chants (the loss of the H at the beginning was a given)!

did they really dominate the 2nd half
I think we had more clear chances
They realised our weakness on crosses into the box and exploited that, but we had so many chances to put the game beyond reach

We do not have a good defender for left back and that is an issue - and dare I say it as I got lambasted last time i did - Burge Again!
