Genuine question, but does a penalty scored boost a striker's confidence? Surely that's goals from open play, and penalties are just because you like scoring?

I think the risk to his confidence of him missing was much greater than the boost he would get from scoring. The assist will have done more for his confidence.

It was a great performance. Everyone played their part.

Again, MR does the right thing by playing a strong side.

It keeps the momentum going and (fingers crossed) we don't have our usual dip after a break.

I thought it was pretty quiet from mid first half onwards today. Understandable as it wasn’t much of a contest, just don’t really get the goading of a club in league below us

It was always going to be flat, especially the way the game played out, there was no jeopardy, it was like an exhibition game. There wasn't much goading tbf, a bit at the end and it was all a bit silly and fairly good natured. Plenty of Oxford fans smiling at it.

2 great finishes by Godden, but Simms also played well. What I would say, and as well as O'Hare and Palmer played, there was a lot of elaborate overplay at times, which must be hard for a striker, know when, where or or even whether to bother making a run. Allen was a bit more direct, that second pass particularly, was played a lot earlier than what O'Hare and Palmer would have played it.

I don’t normally bother with the fa cup games but my lads game was called off this morning so we went, a very dominant display and if we had got three or four more they would have still got away with it. Their number 3 was one of the worst players I have ever seen and we have had a few shockers.

We like to watch the game the next day on ifollow. Does ifollow only apply to games in the league or does it include the Cup games too.

Just checked and the fourth round, quarters and semis all fall on home Saturday 3pm kickoff league game dates. So we could get a cup run and lose another three 3pm home kickoffs.
I wouldn't worry too much about quarters & semis. 🤣

Simms was making a lot of runs and getting in good positions only for play to be switched, often backwards, and his good positioning totally ignored.

Said similar re: putting it into the box for Simms. We were doing a lot of possession, borderline showboating, out wide, when Simms was in the middle waiting for a ball in, that never came. Great play by him for the second goal, and he has done that to a few defenders now.

We’re in a period of good momentum so it was important Robins played a strong side. That said it’s nice for us to have squad depth rather than 1 or 2 stand outs. Penalty went in so it was the right decision.

I’ve already paid for Saturday home games in the league, I’m not paying extra for more Saturday home games and then having to trudge up the CBS on a shitty cold windy rainy fucking Tuesday night
