We need to stamp our authority on this league by giving Stevenage a spanking. But no doubt it will be another nervy 2-1 Win, any which way, anyhow, we need 3 massive points before play Lincoln in a 6 pointer which is shaping up to the game of season for us so far. What a massive game next Tuesday is.

A front pairing of Alex Revel and Danny Newton with a minor point to prove won’t be easy to dispatch.

this could come down to goal difference folks. On form every one of the sides in contention should win this weekend - we are trading at a small disadvantage in respect of pour goal difference compared with Lincoln and Mansfield. So I'd like a 3-0 or similar

Did you put 'pour' instead of 'poor' because we have been leaking a few goals lately?

After the Yeovil debacle,we shouldn’t have to worry about complacency on Friday

Think we may change the line-up based on what Robins is saying today in the CT.

He has said that Bayliss is tired and needs a rest.

'I need his quality and he needs a breather' he said.

Would maybe be wise to rest him Friday and then have him back for the very important Lincoln matchup. I know they are all important now, but clearly Lincoln are a better side than Stevenage and we need our best players to face the better team.

If he desperately needs a rest, then Friday would be the match to allow that.

The worry with dropping Bayliss is the immediate lack of creativity. Especially if he drops back to 4-4-4-2 with Shipley, Kelly, Doyle, ??.

That's 14 players. Don't you think that the Ref would notice?

Hhhmm - the mrs just called me at work. I floated the idea I might go to this game and thus get home at 11.30am (which would be prior to our having an early start to go to the cricket at Derby the Saturday morning)...here's an excerpt of her reaction:

"do what you want"
"it's up to you"
"when are you going to sleep?"
"do as you please"

Sounds like approval, right??????? Right??

Club have tweeted that hospitality for this game is sold out maybe a Friday is a good thing
I wouldn't be able to get there until half way through the first half. And that is without being held up by traffic. And it would be peak time at Manchester. So I can't make it with the game being on a Friday.

Some people will say another good reason

I have always taken it as an OK. Do you mean I could be wrong?

Could go with Reid on the right, Shipley on the left, with Doyle and Kelly in the middle.

That means one of the three who played upfront on Saturday is axed. He will play Shipley for him though personally I’d rather play him on Friday as that is a game the club could do with winning and Lincoln we could do with not losing.

Probably, but that still means 1/4 midfielders has any creativity. And even that is hit and miss.

I’d stick with the same team. We’re at home and need to win, surely attack is the best way to go.

However, we know Robins fears attacking so I doubt it.

I have never understood this obsession with 'resting' players? He's what 19, fit as a fiddle and enjoying himself. If he can't see the last few games out at full throttle then footballers are in a dire mess.
Play your best players always if fit. Worry about what to change when it starts going wrong.

Yeah, let's just tire him out ready for the play-offs.

And if we play him Friday and he gets even more tired but we don't win, then what?

The bottom line is Robins says the lad needs a rest, so you have to ask yourself, can we win the Stevenage match without him? And you have to say that there is more chance of that than winning against Lincoln without him and besides, going into games where you just need to not lose can prove very dangerous.

I understand what you are saying, but if he needs the rest he needs the rest. Would rather see him rested against Stevenage because that is a game I believe we can win without him.

I've seen a few people put this idea about playing Reid on the right but I don't recall him ever playing there so it would be quite a risk to start doing so at this point in our season.

I don't think playing a winger on the opposite side is a risk whatsoever. It's about the most safest swap one could do.

Well it's certainly better than playing him at left back when you're chasing the game.
But seriously, I wasn't skillful but i could play equally well (or badly) on right or left wings
