It is funny. Blair may be a busted flush and clearly spends far too much time under a sun lounger but on the Marr show he was followed by the insipid Nandy and then Percy from Blackadder

it’s very obvious even now the old snake oil salesman would attract more votes than any of the losers the dead Labour club appoint.
Snake oil sales was exactly what went through my head after your previous post.
Most efficient, I think coupled with a huge intellect.

What the fuck has it got to do with the state?

This fucking government: kids starving/losing education “sorry nothing we can do invisible hand lol”, someone not sufficiently following the governments personal views on social matters: “time to wheel out the massive force of the state”.

They can all piss right off.

Yes , I'd rather old Boris and the tories concentrated on actual issues , rather than getting involved in player knee bending and racist tweets from 1867.

Wasn’t that impressed until it got to “the gaffer just said go out there and destroy the nuclear family”, which did me in TBF

Well the wonderful Gavin Williamson has just spent an hour saying 'it's a lot of money' and 'we need to raise the quality of teachers' in response to 'why are you spending 10 times less than your own tsar recommended' and 'isn't this blatantly not enough money'.

Is watching Ollie Robinson's apology equivalent to the blogger in Belarus paraded in front of the TV?

Havent seen it , I'm not actually huge on people being destroyed for something they said 10-15 years ago .

Hopefully his apology is accepted by all who want it and he can move on with his career

Let the gerrymandering commence

Think that’s a little OTT BSB. This shouldve happened a long time ago ie roughly same number of people in each constituency (Also should happen in US where it’s even more ridiculous !) I’d have personally liked it to have been with a cut in number of MPs and reform of House of Lords like suggested a while back, maybe with an element of PR involved

Also the new borders should be decided independently so as to not provide a distinct advantage to any parties but the concept is correct

As DOD suggests this isn’t something that won’t happen quickly (if at all)

The Lords is what needs heavily curtailing, not the Commons. Taking seats away from everywhere and giving them to southern England is pretty much the opposite of ‘levelling up’

But there’s no curtailing, it’s proposing making constituencies an equal size, which conceptually is correct (it’s how it’s delivered which needs proper scrutiny). Aa I said above the democrats have wanted to do something similar in US for ages as it’s 10 times worse there

Ps don’t get me started in HoL !

Depends if we think one size fits all really?
It may for all I know, trying to think of something comparable but coming up with zilch.

Interesting if the central policy of say the last 50 year's skews the economy to be so London centric that it actually drives the growth of population to the capital, sort of centralises that power even more.
So it will take policies to reverse this to the regions.
Maybe Covid will reverse this trend ,anecdotal evidence of this from the media.

There is a good reason for not overlapping rural and urban constituencies as the needs are quite different. Just weighting things more in favour of the south exacerbates the bias already there
