No actually you are. You’re claiming we can’t charge tax on private education because then all these poor people will be priced out. When I pointed out that if you’re poor you shouldn’t be spending your money on luxury goods you went off about torturing kids.

Read your posts back and see why I'm saying about torturing kids. You're going on at if it's cruel to them.

You brought up single mums on benefits? Every example I've given is both parents contributing and making sacrifices. Far from not feeding their kids.

The woman on benefits was the story put forward in the papers. If your mates can afford to send their kids private without sacrificing anything major then they’re rich and can afford to pay tax on their luxury goods. Most people on a normal wage can’t afford this.

You're the one bringing up a random single mum on benefits but then claiming others get their news off Facebook. 🤣

May as well get some quotes from Mumsnet too.

It’s literally the story your side put up in national newspapers. Have you been following this at all? It’s an extreme example just like the ones you’re pulling out.

"My side"? What are you on about?

I'm talking from actual experiences. What I have said is hardly extreme.

No it is. Thats what I keep trying to get through to you. The percentage of private school parents that fall into the category you’re talking about is tiny compared to the vast majority.

Your side is “private school shouldn’t be taxed”. I thought that was fairly obvious.

I often wish I'd begged stole & borrowed to send my kids to private school.
The state option had deteriorated hugely from my time at school both primary & secondary.
The decline has only continued.
Get "them" to private, if you can afford it, would be my advice to parents.
What's the objective reasoning you're using to conclude this?

And you're obsessing over the super rich like you do the same as oaps.

I'd bet people will just graft a bit harder or move their kids. People with envy will just move on to somebody else to be a bit jealous of.

I've only mentioned actual people I know and actual experiences, I'm not on about some single mum in the media.

Who's jealous Nick? The point of VAT on school fees is to bring it into line with other discretionary services. Surely you agree that's fair, don't you?

Like I said, people will just do what they can to cover it or they will try and move to state school where possible.

My issue is with the "oh well they are rich" type nonsense. Much the same as about oaps "they bought a house for cheap, they can afford it". (Of course some can, some can't)

Then it gets silly with "single mum on benefits" or "OAP couple with 56 houses moan they can't afford the heating".

They are rich people; average school fees are about £18k per year. That's £1500 in cash a month

Median household disposable income, money left after paying taxes but before rent, food, bills, travel etc is £34.5k or £2900 a month. Can't see there being many families even on an average wage able to afford to put even one child into school, can you?

I can’t man. You haven’t got a clue what you’re on about and refuse to engage with even the most basic of thoughts or arguments. Just keep going on about how everyone else disagrees cos they’re jealous and making things up. You don’t address a single point, you never back anything up and you don’t think past what you’ve read online or heard someone say. It’s just pointless.

Hence why I said boundaries should be made to be hedges - all the ecological and social benefits you mention with far less of the downsides of whacking great big trees in the middle of an area designated for walking.

And the trees are of somewhat limited use for biodiversity because they aren't connected to each other, so while some animals etc can move between them many others can't. We need a massive rethink on how we design green and blue spaces in built up areas so they create corridors, not islands.
Agree in part. Green and blue grids are a good solutions... concept been knocking around for years.

I'm not on about what I've read online though? That's exactly what you're doing with the single mum on benefits.

I'm talking about actual experiences and people, nothing made up. I'm only commenting about "normal" people around here because that's what I know.

I only mention envy because you hate anything like it. Same with oaps getting their fuel cut because some oaps are rich. I don't disagree with that either, not all oaps are rich though.

As someone who’s taught or studied in all 3 ‘types’ and whose wife teaches in the private sector, we won’t be sending children to private school because the huge cost is not worth the outcome. It just isn’t.

They can’t have read Twitter
This is the most socialist government in the history of the uk

Twitter is irrelevant. The guy interviewed on 5 Live now as to the reasons was pretty sensible in truth.

What the fuck is he doing?!

Currently on some sort of mad tweeting spree accusing Labour/Starmer of facilitating mass rape of children

Gone power mad since the election. Have you seen the rumoured sock account of his that posts on 4chan? Absolutely deranged.

Reform accounts threatening others that they’ll get them suspended and begging Musk to stop their opponents tweeting.

He’s massively disliked here as is Tommy Robinson, politically I don’t think he’s thought this through. Robinson and the like brought down UKIP and made Reform a thing.

If you want a conspiracy theory, the two countries he’s attacking the most are also the two that are supporting Ukraine the most and we know he’s Putins lapdog.

They are, and they have been.

It's a massive scandal that continues to get swept under the carpet. The level of apologism for it is bizarre.

Once again, people are more angry at people saying stuff on twitter than they are at the ones committing these offences. It's very cowardly.

Why are you angry right now ESB? Where were you when the Tories sent an identical letter last year? Or when none of the 2022 recommendations were implemented yet?

You haven't been able to say a single negative word about the grooming gangs, so your opinion isn't needed here.

Disgust at them transcends political party for most normal people.
