Say what you want about Johnson but he knows how to play to his audience. His speech was streets ahead of Starmers.
While there was little substance in it, same could be said of Starmers, he gives people the soundbites they want. As we all know nobody, especially the media, has any interest in going past soundbites and pushing for any detail or checking the validity of the claims he throws about.
Exactly. There's absolutely no substance to it and the few actual details he came out with are already being fact checked as false, the 'new' hospitals which include refurbs, replacements & builds halted when Carillion collapsed; the cash to send teachers to the parts of the country that need them most (don't all parts of the country need teachers?) when it was only a few years ago a scheme exactly the same as the one announced was scrapped. He governs by soundbite, telling the people what they want to hear, then moving onto the next soundbite before people start questio

There's nothing to it but when he shouts 'get social care done' for some strange reason it plays well and people believe him. Doesn't matter that Javid has already let slip that getting social care done in reality means moving the responsibly onto family members, as if family members don't already care for their relatives and see moving them into a home as a last resort.
It plays well to the room and soundbites like 'get social care done' will make the news tonight and that is as deep as a lot of people will look.
Same with Dowden saying get off your peletons and back to work.
Basically implying everyone who has worked from home has been a lazy bastard and not done any work because they can't be trusted unless someone is watching over them.
They continually insult the intelligence and work ethic of the population and yet still they get voted for. So maybe they actually have a point about the intelligence.
We've been down this road but I don't get it. I wouldn't say my Dad is stupid (even if he is a lifelong Conservative voter!) but its like he's got a blindspot. I mentioned something Johnson had said in an interview last week to him and he just wouldn't believe it, so I found the interview on YouTube and played it to him and he still didn't believe Johnson had said it, he's literally on the TV saying it and my Dad is claiming its 'fake news' from the left to make him look bad! They continually insult the intelligence and work ethic of the population and yet still they get voted for. So maybe they actually have a point about the intelligence.
They have this unshakeable belief that someone can leave school at 16 with a handful of qualifications, go into a 9-5 job and off the back of that afford a nice house, car, holidays every year etc before retiring on a nice pension. Any deviation from that and its explained away by people being lazy or wanting handouts.
It's the ignorance and stupidity that gets me. How can voters feel that people like this are fit to govern us and will take sensible decisions which will be for the good of us and the country. The interviewer even asked him after this if he was sure about what he had said but he saw nothing wrong.Raab is painfully thick

This is a guy from a privileged background and education yet he has no idea what misogyny means. This is almost as bad as Priti Patel talking about tackling counter-terrorist offenders.
How us Raab still there after the Afgan debacle?
Also why in a discussion about violence against women does he feel the need to talk about women acting badly towards men? It's all a bit "all lives matter". Given the recent cases this is a disgraceful line to take. It's the ignorance and stupidity that gets me. Is Hancock doing a fringe event on fidelity and the importance of the family unit? We’re at those kind of bat-shit levels.
Whole event is a troll. They’re just a troll party now.
Still in no danger of being unseated though
TBF he’s got a point. Same with homophobia. It’s wrong towards straight people and gay people.Raab is painfully thick
I'm against white supremacists.TBF he’s got a point. Same with homophobia. It’s wrong towards straight people and gay people.
True dat.I'm against white supremacists.
Doesn't matter what colour they are.
Not while we’ve got the likes of you on their side, no.
Still in no danger of being unseated though
Their own MPs think that if something doesn't change and they don't actually see real change and actiont hey will lose a load of the new seats
The votes aren’t being lost to Labour it would seem

Red Wall constituents realising they made a mistake
Now now.LAB +2
GRN +6
Come the next election perhaps I'd rather have a Green MP who gives a toss about his constituents than one who ignores them.
It’s beyond crazy that people actually fall for thinking Johnson and the rest of the cabinet are men and women of the people.
Now now.
It's worse than the cult of Biamou. It’s beyond crazy that people actually fall for thinking Johnson and the rest of the cabinet are men and women of the people.
What makes them think that De Pfeffel is ‘in touch with them’. It’s amazing how many fall for the vacuous slogans.
