Gullis joining in with the inflammatory language. And Lee Anderson. Farage too.

These pricks will get someone killed.

Then they'll go to the next page of the American far right play book and come up with some conspiracy theory about who carried out the attack not being a far right nutjob or claim it was a false flag operation that never happened.

Like the gay in America and with the hammer, rope etc.
It's the language of the BNP.
Just the sort of stuff that drives fire bombs and the poor bloke who felt he needed to top himself.

Ha Hancock's had the whip withdrawn for signing up to Get me out of here .
That will do him a favour and get a free pass while he's there won't.
Seems a bit hypocritical really when they took two months off for the stupid leaders contest.

He’ll probably be voted out first. Which would mean he’s spent less time out of the country than Boris has since parliament returned from the summer break.

That after Sunak snubbed him ?
Tax. The. Rich.

Wealth tax on everyone over £5m in wealth would raise £50bn a year. Done.

Not sure how much you’re planning on taxing people shmmeee but the proposals I’ve seen are around 1-1.5% which would generate around £10-14bn. Not to be sniffed at but let’s be honest I bet most big multi millionaires would soon shift assets away from U.K. and I also think most calculations include illiquid assets like properties and pensions.

By the way, I’m all for the rich, especially the super rich, to be paying more, I just think in the global world we live in it’s probably not as easy a target as people think. Something needs to be done though, especially when they’re likely to be asking the average man/woman on the street to be chipping in more

I’d be shocked if a more far reaching windfall tax isn’t introduced when budget is released. I can’t believe that there still hasn’t been an advertising campaign regarding reduced energy usage rolled out now crazy Liz has gone. This could save the government billions*

*im still on a self imposed central heating ban…take that Putin ! Got to be honest, the mild October has been appreciated though 😊

Basing it off these numbers from the open letter from a group of million and billionaires earlier this year:

When do we expect the through the floor current gas price will get passed on?
Tankers apparently sitting out at sea waiting for the price to increase again.

I just fundamentally don’t believe tax policy attracts investment. I’ve seen no evidence for it and there’s lots of data looking at corporation tax rates in different states and company investment. It’s a lie told to keep tax rates for rich people low, same as the mythical Laffer curve.

People live here because we’re a great country with a stable economy (usually) and a skilled workforce. Johnny Millionaire isn’t going to abandon all his friends family and business at home to save a few bob. And if he does someone else will take the opportunity to exploit the resources here.

Brexit has led to a loss of investment greater than tax policy has IMO.

I agree there’s no way most people with families would up sticks for a one off percent or two. I just don’t think it would be as easy to get hands on the cash as some suggest.

Plenty of people avoid current tax already. motor sports springs to mind, drivers basing themselves elsewhere to save tax.

Agree that somethings worth a crack though. The super rich are hoarding more and more these days. How much do they need ?!

Exactly and that was fine because muh sovereignty.
Thanks. I’d heard about that but not seen it. How many signatures did it have ?

Surely at least those billionaires could chuck in 5-10% ?!

Exactly. I’m not saying the figures are accurate or people would avoid it. But I’m tired of not even trying because it’s not worth it so let’s cut Nurses pay again because they can’t leave.

Signatures are here, TBF only names I recognise are Mark Ruffalo (plays the Hulk in the MCU) and the Disney heirs: Signatories — In Tax We Trust

It’s also costs us about 5% of our GDP I was reading somewhere last week, whereas the deficit hole Sunak is trying to fill with the autumn budget is about 2.5% of our GDP. On that basis brexit can only lead to higher taxes and cuts. That’s not going to be rescinded at some point in the future either unless someone find’s a way to make brexit work, somehow.

Agree entirely but the other thing needed is equivalence between individuals and organisations.

Individuals get their gross taxed, not their net.
Individuals get less taxable income.
Individuals don't get to carry forward/back years where they've made a loss.

So make it the same for everything. Apart from simplifying the entire system you could drop the rates of tax to probably 5% if you charged businesses on gross. Plus you wouldn't have businesses doing things purely for the tax write off

It's because they're addicts.

If you write the sentence "a person already has lots of _________ but will be willing to do things that could cause harm and suffering to others to get more" you'd say that clearly signifies an addict.

If you put in words like drugs, alcohol or sex then you wouldn't think twice about calling that person an addict. But put money in...

There’s also an economic argument here. Everyone has played monopoly, money begets money and capitalism is a system for funnelling money from the masses to the few. If you never take money from the wealthy and put it back in the bottom of the system the system eventually fails.

People who are against wealth taxes generally are scared they won’t be able to make it again, which suggests they know it was luck not skill that got them there. So it rewards the lucky, not the innovative and productive.

Is the tories only attack line "Jeremy Corbyn"?

they are fucked
I know that we on the left are not supposed to descend to such fripperies as 'personality' politics.

But the 'Jeremy Corbyn' line, from the party that enabled Liz Truss is surely an open goal.

MPs either have to defend her, or admit that their members are idiots.

Alistair Campbell would be sticking the boot in. Hard.
