Always? How many are you running into? Then on top of that after running into them how do you find yourself in a situation where you have to mention their sex?

It’s not a policy I personally agree with but there always seems to be a casual assumption that those who are transsexual are more likely to be sex offenders based on the actions of individuals in the news.
I don't agree.

The biggest problem we have is the weirdos who play it to their advantage. Yet we are not supposed to have a voice on the matter.

I don't have the slightest problem with trans people. What I have a problem with is those who have the thought that they are untouchable.

No one is arguing a case for sex offenders being able to do whatever they want. From what I’ve seen in the media, there’s often a focus on that person who walks around with ZZ fake breasts and skin tight leggings that are particularly tight on their crotch - that sort of thing is absurd but most trans people would also ageee.

Which is of course an absolute farce and this has of course been allowed to happen under a Conservative government. Another reason they need to piss off

And that they need to piss off for this reason is just a sideline.

Integrity used to mean something. These days it means you haven't been found yet

So you agree finally 😆

I go by the logic it doesn't hurt me to call people whatever they want to be cashed, so why shouldn't I.
Retraining my brain to refer to someone a certain way even though I think it's rubbish isn't for me I'm afraid, I don't wish to indulge the attention seeking. As I said, to avoid rudeness I use the name.
Just so we're clear this is separate to the trans issue, if someone becomes a woman or man through surgery and presumably after lots of assessments of their state of mind (as an adult of course) then it's very unkind not to refer to them as their new sex.

Is Sam smith now them as he’s the size of two people?
Have to admit this made me laugh - I had to watch an interview with him on CBS in the USA he didn’t come across well at all.

Yeah not referring to them as their ‘new’ sex would be pretty cuntish.

I have it sometimes that people use my full title (technically, it's Doctor). I don't like it, it's for snobbish reasons people do so I ask them not to. I'd consider it discourteous for somebody to ignore that request.

Not about gender, but same principle. Sure some people find it odd, but it's a small harmless request really. Only fair I extend that to other people. I have an unfortunate knack of using peoples full names (you'd be Thomas!) but if you asked me not to and call you Tom I'd try and abide, because why wouldn't I? Just the same extension.

No, I was agreeing with you but taking it a bit further than unkind.
Well yeh it would be dickish. I don't think many people outside of absolute cunts would do that. Identifying as the opposite sex without doing anything to suggest you wish to transition or identifying as a mystery genderless person can get in the bin.

I think smith was getting some veiled criticism at the Brits as Smith was largely blamed for removing gender awards

Are you a medical doctor? Because I have this thing on my testicles that I'm not sure about. I'll DM you a pic.

Exactly why not to use it. I'm not, they're proper doctors! Otherwise it's just a pretension.

I think that’s true for a small segment of people who think any sexual proclivity outside of lights off missionary as deviant. But for most it’s the same argument as all other men. Most aren’t predators but those that are don’t wear a uniform so we ban them all. These studies that show transitioned MtFs commit violent and sexual crimes at male rates of course, and there’s a massively disproportionate number of trans sex offenders in jail, but I think that’s down to offenders gaming the system more than anything.

I might be being naive here but where are people going where there are gender checks made before allowing entry? As in having to provide proof

Obviously there's signed separate facilities but if, for example, someone who presents as female goes in a female changing room who is challenging them and demanding proof of gender?

That was laughable really. Years of complaining that awards were defined by gender. That gets removed and after I think one year of gender neutral awards there's now demands to go back to the old system as there's not enough female winners

What happens if you walk into a women’s toilet? No idea, I’ve never tried it. The mere fact of trying it would highlight me as a wrongun.

The more serious questions are around sports, prisons and refuges which certainly can check.

No idea what happens if a guy walks into a women's toilet, certainly nobody seems to bat an eyelid when women use the gents cubicles because there's a massive queue for the ladies. Would having a particular rule in place stop a wrongun that wanted to attack women?

The other areas you highlight are a different thing really. Sport comes down to competitive advantage. If there is no difference then why do we have separate events? In that situation you're looking to balance the needs & rights of the individual against the integrity of the sport. I doubt there would be much complaint over female players in the darts or snooker for example where most people would not consider there to be a competitive advantage one way or the other. But something like weightlifting or boxing I suspect would get a much stronger resistance

For things like prisons & refugees its more a safeguarding issue. I don't think there's anyone suggesting it is OK for a sex offender to suddenly declare they are female and be sent to a women's prison mixed in with the general population. Reasonable to expect those situations would be dealt with on a case by case basis. Does the same not apply now? Would a male prisoner in a mens prison not be segregated from the general population if they were considered a danger to the rest of the prison population?

Seems to me there's a lot of noise around situations that the vast majority of the population will never encounter

Agree with the final paragraph but I suppose the flip side is why try to alter various things for such a tiny proportion of the population

48,000 (0.10%) identified as a trans man. 48,000 (0.10%) identified as a trans woman. 30,000 (0.06%) identified as non-binary. 18,000 (0.04%) wrote in a different gender

Like Sam smith kicking up a fuss about having male and female Brit awards. Well, yeah, as 99.9% of the population identify as either male or female what’s the problem ?

ps my brother had a massive shit in the ladies once when he didn’t realise it was the female toilets. Don’t think they were overly impressed and I’d imagine not many would support gender neutral toilets after that 😊. Not aimed at you Dave as you’re talking generally but I find it a bit strange when blokes speak on women’s behalf on these matters

Personally, I don’t have a problem with gender neutral toilets - I’ve used them plenty of times when living in Brighton. The women didn’t seem to be overly bothered or cowering in the corner either.
I just few bad because you inevitably get tossers pissing over the toilet seat still.
There are far more important things for the country to worry about than an imported American culture war.

I’ve used plenty in clubs over the years and was more than happy….the state of gents toilets these days are usually a disgrace. My point is that I’m not sure a majority of women feel the same, certainly not in all settings. Also most places if you take the urinals out, the queues will be round the block or half the venue taken up in cubicles.

Yeah, I guess it depends on the context. I was over in New York recently and quite a few bars had them as well - they still take me by surprise though. I just try to be considerate when using them but they are always going to be some bellends.

It’s the case one person, who I believe is an actual sex offender.
One that has made the headlines being a rapist then going to a woman's prison.

The point is you let one do it and it gives the freedom for more to do it. The vast majority of the public are against it.

What is the problem with someone with a penis using changing rooms that are for people with a penis until they don't have one anymore? It won't harm them. But one sex attack is one too many. It is a life changer. Women need to feel safe. I want to know my female relatives are safe in places I shouldn't be. If you read the news you will know there isn't just one offender that's a danger.

I would put the safety of half the population over the feelings of a few thousand. It isn't the genuine cases that's the problem. It is those who are now taking advantage of the situation.
