I can never read Gillian Keegan’s name/face as Education Secretary. It always screams “dodgy TV nutritionalist”. This is apropos of absolutely nothing.
Is it cos her name is similar to professional poo sniffer Gillian McKeith?

Very hard to continue with my belief that the death penalty is wrong while people like Lucy Letby continue to breathe. Pure evil. Hopefully she's killed while inside.

Did Watkins die in the end?

TBH not according to any moral compass, but I’d rather people like that die being shanked and told they’re evil cunts than put to sleep on behalf of the state.

But this is possibly why I’m not a judge.

I agree, my problem is really that i don't want the state having the power to kill people rather than i don't want bad people dead. Maybe someone will do us a favour with this bitch.

Fucking dreadful, i think there need to be jailings here, sackings will not suffice.

Heard a report on the radio driving home regarding the warnings ignored by senior management and it was shocking.

This is dead babies they were being warned about for fucks sake, it's heartbreaking, unbelievable and maddening all at once.

One bad apple

Remember when Khan was widely criticised by the right for saying he didn’t have confidence in Cressida Dick? The Tories even ordered a sham enquiry into it. Imagine doing that to the backdrop of a police force that clearly had/has serious issues and a commissioner who was clearly in denial about it. Patel as Home Secretary must have had details about how bad things were in the Met so failed in her duties by trying to politically stitch up a mayor who was not only right to say he had no confidence in the commissioner he would have failed in his duties as mayor if he hadn’t have said that.

Really interesting/frustrating thread about why British infrastructure costs so much:

In a nutshell: over zealous NIMBYs at the planning stage, dithering politicians at the policy stage, with constantly changing requirements (I’ve heard this complaint in govt IT too), and an insistence on doing things our own way.

read that earlier, thoroughly depressing. when I go to events I always look at the public transport options first and I don't think I've had a single instance where using public transport is far more expensive and takes far longer

there was this as well

I agree.
Strange how we trust a load of evil criminals to cary out "justice" before we'd trust the state.

..... then again, is there really any difference?

Inertia from the treasury's inability to forward plan as well

The worst thing is, if all that came out of the planning system were well designed, environmentally sensitive buildings I’d probably accept it. But we get absolute shite still and we can’t build anything in less time than the average cats lifespan.

Grant Shapps new Defence Secretary. Surprised they didn’t install Mogg, he’d have us aiming cannons and muskets at Russia and sending the light brigade into Crimea

Shapps has now been Defence Secretary, Transport Secretary, Business Secretary, Home Secretary and Energy Security Secretary in just the past 12 months. A truly indispensable leader of our times.

Frightening for the highest quality MP let alone Shapps. It’s why I give up with politics…how can constant change of ministerial roles be good for those departments and more importantly the country ?!

People on Twitter were having a right go at Penny Mordaunt (as she seemed to be angling for the Defence job) as being hopelessly unqualified for the role. And then they do THIS???
At least knows what a military base looks like (and not just, while Transport Secretary, as a place to park lorries waiting to cross the Channel because your Brexit-busting freight provider doesn't actually have any ships).

Not that long ago people were touting her for PM because she carried a sword.
