Quick scan seems to show we're not getting the cut in income tax anymore, the energy price guarantee has been cut to 6 months but lenders are already saying its unlikely to have a significant impact on mortgage rates.

Think at the moment the aim is to ensure GB PLC doesn't go bust!

He makes a good point...

tbf, just about everybody agrees this is a car crash caused by a mentalist hopelessly out of their depth.

Even Tory MPs agree with that!

So not sure there's any firther to go if it were a Labour govt.

Penny Mordaunt continues hitting back at the leader of the opposition.

She says Sir Keir Starmer's arguments are "against the national interest" adding that he has "abandoned" pledges which he ran on during his leadership race.
Not sure that's an argument she's going to win. Truss has already abandoned everything she ran on in her leadership campaign.

Nice line from Starmer...

'The lady is not for turning... up.'

It was a decent line !

I agree with NW, I don’t think there would be much difference in media treatment if this had happened under Labour. Truss has been slaughtered, and rightly so, by pretty much everyone inc all media I’ve seen.

The difference might be later if/when a new leader takes over, it will be swept under the carpet by some papers ‘nothing to see here’ whereas they would continue to link it to Labour if it happened under them.

People still believe the lies of the 2010 election

The one thing I’ve noticed is far less introspection than we got with Corbyn and he never got near power let alone was PM. The fact is both listened to fringe outlets, we heard all about the hard left especially Momentum but commentary on the IEA or the TPA for example whose fingerprints are all over this seems non-existent.

Mordaunt is so much better than Truss. Head and shoulders above.

But then I realised that's not quite the compliment I originally thought it was when I remembered that Liz Truss looks set to be outwitted by a lettuce.

Fair point, I just think people have assumed the crazy ideas came from a nutter of a PM. Who knows.

Where is the Prime Minister?

The smart money is on Ukraine apparently.

What a dereliction of duty if that is correct.

Agreed. She’s good. more than capable at the dispatch box. Rumours of Mordant and Sunak teaming up to take over from Truss would certainly help the Tories but ultimately both want to be PM so can’t see it happening.

She's just strolled in to the commons. How convenient that the urgent business and 'very good reason' for not attending the UQ finishes just as the UQ finishes.

Hoyle being an absolute wet blanket as always too.

Maybe I’m being paranoid, maybe it’s because the Right of Labour was quicker to push it, maybe it’s because Corbyn lasted longer and the media had to respond with people with his views.

But for me this should spell the end of the BBC having the likes of the IEA and TPA on as independent experts for anything and everything. Their ideas have been shown to be ridiculous and their talking heads should be treated as such.
