Has there ever been a business owner who has said I am in business to lose money? King has been consistently saying the same message but some are just not listening. From his comments it seems like he wants to invest a minimal amount to fluke a promotion and parachute payments.
Don't let simple logic get in the way of you and your mates having a toddler tantrum. Why would they fixate on a set of customers that have been paying a third of what the club think their product is worth?
Not like they've plucked the pricing out of the air - normal for this level - and the boxes were never meant for mates buying together. I'd say the strategy is problematic for you. Probably good for the club.
Sorry, what are you getting at?Has there ever been a business owner who has said I am in business to lose money? King has been consistently saying the same message but some are just not listening.
I mean... he's right. Prices make it pretty clear the club have totally different customers in mind.
Ultimately it's the club's issue though and as such they should shoulder the blame, not the box holders. Understandably the prices were initially set in order to coax fans back to the Ricoh and plenty took advantage but why wouldn't they? Those were the prices set by the club. Realistically the prices should've gone up significantly last year rather than keeping them well below market rate - and the fact they didn't just once again highlights is the failings and incompetency of our commercial department.
Trying to correct it overnight to set it more in line with the rest of the league was always going to cause uproar. Frankly it's a comical move and the fallout could've been mitigated significantly with a bit of planning and due diligence.
Well it isn't because barely any box holders are renewing. At least by staggering the rises over 2-3 seasons it would've allowed the club to find its ideal price point.
As both I and others have said aligning themselves with other Championship clubs straight off the bat doesn't work as there's so many variables needed to be accounted for first.
King is not responsible for what happened before he even arrived.
he inherited a situation where box holders were being allowed to take the piss, and now he’s put a stop to it.
It reeks of faux entitlement and all this talk that we should have “staggered the increase”- we’re talking about people who can afford many thousands every year for a box, not those looking to get a restricted view cheap seat.
And these are the first people who would have complained if there was less to spend on the team- makes no sense but now we see who really wants the best for the club and who wants the best for themselves.

How is it box holders 'taking the piss' when those were the prices set by the club? Please explain?
It's not entitlement either, staggering the prices over 2-3 seasons allows the club to try to find their ideal price point, as well as provide them sufficient time to nurture relationships with larger SMEs in the region. It's clear all they've done is align themselves to what other clubs are paying, without actually doing their due diligence in the first instance.
Not the case whatsoever. Every Coventry box holder I know personally wants the absolute best for the club, but equally they want to be treated fairly.
Wants the best for the club so much so they are forming a revolt against the club in an attempt to get their own wayHow is it box holders 'taking the piss' when those were the prices set by the club? Please explain?

That’s not what I said, I said that boxholders were ‘being allowed’ to take the piss, from the former mismanagement that was going on.
it’s really not a good look to be campaigning for increases to be staggered when lots of people save all year to get the money together for a season ticket in other parts of the ground.
As for the ‘ideal price point’, again that’s just trying to force the club to do what you want, as opposed to the club doing what’s best for the club.
We’ll just have to wait and see if King has this right, or if the boxholders union force him to rethink based on their perceived right to pay well under the going rate until they feel like it, it will be interesting.
it will be interesting

It’s pathetic, rabble rousing to try and stop the club maximising its revenues.
With additional revenues and a new stadium owner they may well be able to offer more. Hardly likely to offer fantastic hospitality when thy all pay nothing for itIts all very well though charging benchmark prices but the offering and the facilities are poorer
You quite clearly have a massive chip on your shoulder so it's pointless conversing with you.
They are being treated fairly. It is a comparative price for the level of football. How is it box holders 'taking the piss' when those were the prices set by the club? Please explain?

Rubbish, the only relevant comparative is the price for the same product last year. These people are not likely to buy a box at another club so the comparison is pretty irrelevant. They are being treated fairly. It is a comparative price for the level of football.

Or the going market rate more to the pointKing didn't say that at all in his interview - he said he hoped the boxholders would see what the club is trying to do and agree to pay 300% more

Don’t doubt it, and that’s because the pricing was way off. It was a joke what we were charging.
A pointless benchmark if you can't sell boxes. As stated previously, mirroring what other clubs are paying is a poor strategy, as a number of other facets
what total nonsense …. Benchmarking is part and parcel of good business practice …A pointless benchmark if you can't sell boxes. As stated previously, mirroring what other clubs are paying is a poor strategy, as a number of other facets have to be taken into consideration when pricing corporate packages.

Which suggests your anger is entirely misplaced. If you want to blame anyone, blame the club's inept commercial department for getting themselves into this mess.
Lol as a professional buyer if somebody came to me and told me they were increasing the price for their service 3 fold in order to align to competitors in the market I'd tell them to get fuckedOr the going market rate more to the point
