But people are complaining that we're carrying a lot of deadwood, Shipley would just be another example of that.

It was the right time for him to move on I think.
Shipley looked way better at LWB last season (his performances against Peterborough & QPR spring to mind). He was simply lost in midfield. Would of been happy for Robins to have kept him as back up / alternative to Bidwell.

Issue is, we all thought getting rid of Shipley, Jones and co would result in 3 better players coming in. We had 1.

Absolutely no one thought that. The combined salaries of Jones, Shipley, Pask and Drysdale would probably only just about cover the wages of Bidwell for example.

As I predicted the club was always going to be bottlenecked by having the likes of Kelly, Walker, Kane, Dacosta, Hilssner, Waghorn etc. on the books - ultimately causing serious issues in regards to Robins' ability to recruit this season.

Pask, Jones and Drysdale needed letting go but Shipley would have been handy with the current squad problems.

Same was said of Rubin Lameiras. He’s now in the Portuguese top flight playing for one of the better teams.

I would argue that Westbrook flattered to deceive and went missing in plenty of games.

Technique there but physicality not-and that’s what you need in English Football.

Same for Rubin.

The Portuguese league is pretty poor quality outside the two big teams. The club he plays for have a guy on loan from Celtic who can’t get in their team

Jodi Jones is apparently surplus to requirements at Oxford as their manager Karl Robinson said in the post-match interview that they expect him to move on in the next few days. He's in their bomb squad currently training with the u18's, most Oxford fans can't understand why he isn't given a chance seemingly not even being named on the bench this year so suggestions of a falling out between player and manager.

It’s a shame because if they paid him up and he was a cheap free signing you’d almost want to get him back in here (would of course need to see if he has regained his mobility in the first instance)

Problem though is that he doesn’t suit our formation. We don’t play with wingers and our AM’s need to track back and win possession. Allen, for all his faults, does get back and position well to stop potential passing channels. Palmer, not so much but getting there. Cal would run everywhere and chase so added that bit extra in that regard. (On the subject of Shipley it was an area where he lacked - the consistent press and chase. Waghorn just pointed at ghosts). JJ wasn’t that kind of player but, like Tavares, could possibly come on late and play alongside Vik.

Anyway. Shame for the lad. Hope he finds a club that plays to his style and he has some sort of decent career.

Laugh if you want but I can see him at Silena or Valletta or wherever Mifsud used to play in Malta. A season there might do him good.

Abroad unlikely with a young family I'd say

Needs a L2 club where he can play every game IMO

Robinson hates him
No one can understand why
Jones has been looking at options but Robinson pulled a loan to a L2 promotion contender at the last moment in September

Why did he sign him in the first place, then?

I mean, I could understand... didn't he go to Reading for a trial, that could be construed as lack of commitment to Oxford? That could be a reason but... not if you then sign him after anyway!

The last thing Jodie Jones would be doing is have a fall out with the manager when he's trying to rebuild his career.

Decent move for him I think. Hopefully will get some game time and gets to stay at home, he's got a young family hasn't he?
