Turnbull and Willis are a great defensive wall in my team (lowest goals conceded every season),and also good at attacking corner kicks (scoring 3-4 goals each in a single season)...I wanna see if they can grow up to be good also in BPL

Anyone playing FM19? I like the new tactical systems but fear the game is even easier now.

Started a save as Coventry, currently 1st in L1 in February, 7 points clear at the top. The board did Bayliss over my head to Swansea on deadline day for a pitiful £750k plus addons which was annoying. Signed Moncur from Barnsley as a replacement. Having a problem with long-term injuries; Junior Brown, Allassani and JCH all did their ACLs!

I very nearly had the exact same happen with the same buying club too but somehow I convinced the board to let me keep him. He's supremely pissed off now but I'm on course to go up which should placate him and Ogogo who was dead keen on a move to Burton Albion for some reason.

Best coup is getting Marc McNulty in on loan at Christmas, pay him nothing and have an option to buy him for £300k, half his actual value. Already paid off by scoring both in the JPT win over Wolves academy, bosh

I'm not losing 3 or 4 goal leads every game as I did in FM18 at least...

In the 4th season as Rangers and am on a somewhat unlikely 80 game unbeaten run.

Anybody still playing this, currently top of the championship in second season with the sky blues... Fulham putting pressure on and don’t think my squad will hold on.

Lost time for it but I finished 2nd to United in 2024 by a point, was battling Liverpool for the title when I stopped. Club bought back the Ricoh and expanded it to 38k

I’ve managed to get promoted, I’ve had 2 takeovers in 2 seasons, although still not wanting to buy the Ricoh.

Haven’t started the prem yet, but managed to start with Chelsea, Spurs and Man City first 3 games

I'm still on the same career save I started when I first got it, and it's improved since the days of struggling to keep Ogogo happy and winning JPT games. Who needs realism?

The IGN UK team have started a spin off podcast about Football manager.

One of the presenters is a Cov fan and has chosen them as his challenge team. weird hearing all the cov names

Honestly, is that with using in game editor?

I always fall away unless I literally spend hours focusing on every intricate detail or I.G.E...

No, never edit a game. I will happily download a plug 'n' play tactic as a base and mess around to fit my setup though so it's definitely a case where someone else gets a big assist

Started a Cov game the other night, basically mirrored our real results then pumped Portsmouth 3-0.

But just can't get into it like I used to. I would lose nights to it in the past but I think I'm over FM now. Tried the last few pc versions and even one on switch but it's just not scratching the itch like it used to.

FYI it's £20 on disc in smyths currently. Dunno if that's a good price but thought I'd share

Got quite far with Cov on FM19 but even after the Ricoh gets expanded the club just doesn't get enough money to stay at the top. Just got a bit bored in the end

In my younger days I also used to play it all the time and can remember staying up until the early hours to finish a season so it could load the new season over night which used to take hours, ah the excitement of seeing who had retired from your team. I used to think I can’t wait to retire so I could play it all day everyday but gave up when it got over complicated

I go through stages of bingeing on it but then won’t play it for months, it’s great but also dreadful due to the time it wastes.

I won League One first season and then 17th in the Championship in the second. Currently sitting comfortably in a playoff spot going into March 22

Most I've spent on a player in three seasons is £300k, I was taken over but meet the new boss, same as the old boss so I've had to go full vulture when teams release players in summer and put the big money to the head of youth development

Loving The Who reference.

"head of youth development" blimey, sounds really indepth, perhaps a little too much for me!

That part isn't really, it's finding someone who has the right amount of knowledge, relevant attributes and personality for the job and then leaving them to go about their business. Every year they'll bring in a group of young players for you to evaluate and sign if desired, and I've had at least one player in each group who gets immediate interest from PL clubs

Ok, understood.

Last FM I played was FM14 2-3 years ago and tried to recruit good youth coaches, then evaluate the new youth players using FM scout.

So I guess I didn't need a v good head of youth recruitment, which in turn sounds like a newish feature?

It's a relatively new addition yeah, if you get a good one in it's basically automating what you were doing before. There's a lot more of that with staff roles and responsibilities so you can delegate more and be as hands on or off as you like

I've got a 2 month old baby, so my playing time has been somewhat hampered. Wish the mobile game was more immersive so I could play more quickly and conveniently.
