Robins lost his first 3 games in the second spell without scoring a goal.

that didn’t turn out too badly in the end
In the end? We've been shite for 15 months

I thought they made some good points tbh. Lampard hasn’t achieved much, has arguably under achieved at his “good” jobs, relied on having better players rather than any tactical ability and the advantage of loans he had at Derby will be lessened from his time out since.

People are desperate to put a good spin on it and keep calm and carry on, but objectively he is a dreadful appointment and one that was a joke among fans when Robins first went to show how clueless we could be.

Cool. I don't want Lampard. I think the vid is sh*t.

if it is Lampard it bears more than a frightening resemblance to the Birmingham and Rooney situation all over again except we don't have billionaire American owners to buy our way out of the mess

If it is Frank and he brings his own backroom staff it's gonna cost a absolute fortune.
Have we got some extra backing from somewhere, F1 possibly.
Every other fucka on here saying Deadly Doug hasn't got the ££££££.

Thing is King is clearly hugely ambitious and patience is not his thing - he's absolutely desperate for PL football. He takes no prisoners..... bit like Killer. Not our usual organic gradual growth approach, but it'll go down well with SBA, provided the cost and debt is not heaped on the club.... we really must avoid that. He should come clean about the way the finances are being structured. Are SISU/Otium still lurking? Is Mike Cashley hovering? Is it all DKs cash? Is there a new 3rd party investor? End of the day the club needs us and we probably need someone with a brutal vision to get us up. Interesting times ahead.

Lampard is a very weird instant success move though. At least Peter Reid had a promotion or two on his CV.

This is nonsense, you could make the "relied on their best players" argument about any manager / head coach in the world, including Pep Guardiola.

Pep is likely to get his best players at his clubs cos he has infinite cash. Is there an equivalent set of players we can loan in? And if there are why do we need Lampard to loan them? The point of a manager is to get more than the sum of the parts not just find more expensive parts.

If it's Lampard he will have to be something special to placate some of the staunch pro Robins mob. When Lampard was first mentioned it left me with a blank expression but ultimately I can only say regarding the dawning of a new era it's up to you Doug. But i bet you're wondering now whether the timing of it all was correct and the current situation is too hot to handle. Appearing on a fans forum doesn't make it alright .

We've got some good players, Lampard has shown some ability to get the best out of them, especially young ones. Let's just give him a chance.

Has he? Who did he get the best out of at Derby or Everton? What older players has he got the best out of?

I’m allowed an opinion on whether a prospective hire is any good FFS

Mount, Reese James, Abraham, Tomori he brought through in his first season there. Yes these are exceptional players but it's all relative to the level, they still got a top 4 spot. Kovacic got player of the season so it wasn't all the youngsters either.

You are allowed an opinion but I'm just pointed out it is misguided.

Agreed re. the negatives of appointing Lampard, he's tactically inflexible and has shown to really only work best with players he knows and is familiar with.

However, to caveat that, in some ways I don't think we've been able to see his true capabilities as a manager / Head Coach.

Derby was his first job so there was inevitably going to be a lot of naivety and rawness about his approach, however he still managed to sneak them into the PO's and reach the PO final. That Villa team they came up against in the final had a ridiculous amount of talent as well.

His stint at Chelsea was never going to work long-term due to his lack of experience, talk about running before you can walk. Yet he managed to get them into the CL places in his first season.

Everton was and still is a basket case and an impossible environment to succeed in so hard to judge him on his record there. Really he was doomed from the moment he stepped foot into the club.

I think in a previous post you used the word 'dreadful' regarding his appointment. While you're entitled to that opinion, you can't really come to that conclusion until he's actually arrived at the club and shown, or not shown, what he's capable of.

Where are our players to bring through though, even at our level

I think they are waiting until us fans are less angry about it and have calmed down.

Deja vu for us long suffering Sky Blues fan's

Still haven't got over why the club didn't give Jimmy Hill the contract he wanted. 😔

I ripped up my ST when Robins left, pieced it back together and spunked all over it when Ruud was coming, but now I'm fatigued. Just give me Fat Frank because I can't take whatever shite Douglas has got up his sleeve.
