I'm not so sure Everton were skint.
£40m in from Gordon sale
£22m bid accepted for Sulemana, but player turned it down
£20m + bid for Ndiaye rejected
Loan bid for Ismaila Sarr with £30m obligation to buy rejected by Watford.
Of course, you can say it was all made up for effect. I doubt it. Seems a bit far fetched and flat earthy to me.
Yes please shmmeee. What are my duties, can I work from home, and when do I start? Presumably I get paid holidays?New contract with a £20m release clause anyone?
Their combines losses over 2020 and 2021 are nearly £300 mI'm not so sure Everton were skint.

For almost 3 seasons now they have not funded transfers other than that generated through player sales

For almost 3 seasons now they have not funded transfers other than that generated through player sales. The Koeman years in particular and then Ancelotti the net spend was well over £300m - there is also the suggestion of huge issues at with the new ground project with spend predicted at half a billon much of which has not been secured
It isn't flat earthy, their financial position is dreadful. They have the very real prospect of relegation coming. They have a partially completed stadium which was going to partly be financed by a £280m loan from Liverpool City Council which is now not happening. The club's auditors walked away last year and refused to sign off the accounts (sounds familiar eh?).
Their owner is very close to Usmanov a Russian oligarch who has been sanctioned, it's thought that Usmanov was the actual benefactor of a lot of their spending over recent years.
It is not far fetched to suggest they have no money to spend nor is it far fetched to suggest that these proposed deals were all likely to be rejected so could be just playing to the crowd.
I agree and I suspect Gyokeres knows himself that he is not yet ready for the Premier League especially at somewhere like Everton in their current plight. I imagine that is one of the reasons he didn't go in this window. A good second half to the season and he might be ready to step up in the summer, but he needs to work on those areas you mention.I’ve been a fan of Vik from the start, even during the loan spell because despite the occasional clumsiness you could see he was physically so much stronger and more athletic than any striker we’d had for a very long time.
He’s improving all the time I think, but the weaknesses are still there – poor decision making / lack of awareness at times, and his finishing isn’t the best (if it was, he’d get 30 a season). My gut feeling is that he would have struggled to impress if he’d gone to Everton, and not solved their problems, at least in the short term this season. In the Championship he gets away with constantly turning and running directly at defences, but he’d definitely find that harder in the Prem, and would take a while to adjust and play a bit smarter.
Well done to King & Robins for their stance on this, which I think will benefit Vik too because he’s not quite ready for the top flight yet. I hope we offer him a long contract, build around him, and even if he doesn’t get into the Prem with us in the next couple of years his value will only rise IMO.
G you are spot on identifying the rising costs of the new ground, allied to the issues Everton have to manage in trying to comply with FFP. Most construction projects are running into significant increases in materials above the projected contingency rates.Their combines losses over 2020 and 2021 are nearly £300 m

If the are relegated, then it will be interesting to see if they have relegation clauses in the players contracts. Even if they have got those clauses how many of their players will be sold for the same amount they bought them for? Not many, is my guess, so if they can offload those players, they will still be paying instalments on the original transfer fees.
Secondly, they'll be receiving circa £47m in parachute payments in year 1, which will cut their direct income by £60m+ and if they don't get promoted next season then the direct payments reduce again.
This could make a very interesting Netflix programme
You are probably right, but the current white knight has lost a massive amount of money and that could temper the scope for new investmentSomeone will surely white knight a club of that size.
Everton fans would never accept that, if they get relegated I’ll predict some serious protesting.Just a theory here........
Dyche happy not to change things so when they go down he can say - not my fault, look what I had to work with.
All change for next season in the Championship.
Everton claimed to be buying Geroud as well on deadline day
Everton made a late move to sign £7.4m veteran but the forward rejected the move
In search of strikers, Everton made a late move on transfer deadline day to sign AC Milan forward Olivier Giroud on loan but the offer was rejected.princerupertstower.com
Who is Geroud? Makes me think of this:Apparently they tried to get Olivier Geroud at the last minute.
He wasn't interested either, it's pretty toxic up there atm.
I think he is.I suspect Gyokeres knows himself that he is not yet ready for the Premier League
Tough one - Look at Adam Armstrong, brilliant in the Championship at Blackburn but can't score in the Premier League. Some players do make the step up effortlessly (Ivan Toney) but others don't like Armstrong, Dwight Gayle etc. Vik is a strong player like Toney, but his game is based on running at defenders. Toney is more of a old fashioned No 9. If the Premier league defences snuff out Vik's ability to dribble at them, then he will have to change his style as he's not a target man, or poacher, and his heading is not great eitherI think he is.
He will go abroad I think in the summer (unless we fluke a promotion)Tough one - Look at Adam Armstrong, brilliant in the Championship at Blackburn but can't score in the Premier League. I love this, my kids take the piss over me liking it hahahaWho is Geroud? Makes me think of this:
Based on what?He will go abroad I think in the summer (unless we fluke a promotion)
A number of things, his girlfriend being abroad for one, comments he made about interest from Dutch, German and Italian Teams.Based on what?
Unless he gets a move to a northern Italian team, he’s not going to be more than a 1.5-2 hours away from his girlfriend whether he stays in England or moves elsewhere.A number of things, his girlfriend being abroad for one, comments he made about interest from Dutch, German and Italian Teams.
Money talks though so who knows.
If they'd of watched him last night when he missed 2 glorious chances, they'd wonder how we could possibly be asking 20+ million for him.I've said before that I'm surprised European teams haven't been more vocal in their interest in Vik. He may only be a Championship player currently but he is a full International. And considering the finances of the European game, he'd be a lot cheaper than other players of the same level.
