There are weeks left but there aren't, glad we're agreed
I’m struggling to know what point you’re trying to make.

I said there’s two months left of the window (fact), and you replied with something like ‘but what about if we sell with a week left and only have Godden on the books’ - a hypothetical.

In short, I’m saying it’s not time to panic. If what you say happens then it would be, but we’re a long way from that.

We wouldn’t have much choice.
Yes we do. Season starts about a month away so the club needs to know if he's going to be a Cov player, id say three weeks before the first game. If no one comes in with the £20m valuation in the next week, then he's staying here for next season, and can be a free agent at the end, and go where he wants. We stand a much better chance of going up automatically with him being here than not.

Good lord, I really hope we sign someone soon... Not because I think times running out... I want a signing just to shut some of moaners up.

The panicing and negativity is off the charts at the moment. The flip flopping moods has been wild. A month ago people were saying we should hold out for 30m+ for Vik because players like Watkins made that in the past. Now there is a vocal bunch saying we need to sell him for 15m as times running out 🤦

You can't go shitting it because of some gobby agent spreading nonsense in the press. He'll make the money we want. I'm so glad we aren't being bullied. There are weeks left to get things sorted. Relax. As people have pointed out there have been very few moves in the EFL it's isn't like we are being left behind.

I’d be interested to know how the size of our first team squad compares to other teams. If we don’t sign a few players this week we’re getting a few weeks off the first game of the season without giving the players the time to gel and again starting at a disadvantage.

If he stays, where’s the money for the squad rebuild coming from? we need a minimum of 8 new players.

Put O’Hare in as a negotiator for Gyokeres to stay for another 3 seasons. He may just get through to him that there is unfinished business here.

Of course it was will. They aren't daft. Just takes time not to sign crap. I actually find it refreshing that we are holding firm rather than cashing in.

We have Dasilva signed. And the lad away on International duty with Jamaica apparently a done deal. Reports of interest in several CBs it is clearly all on the go behind the scenes.

The Prem teams will be working out who to send on loan, once the loan market gears up I'm sure we'll have a good shout at picking up some decent prospects off the back our of recent record of developing talent.

It'll all click into place. Chill

Aah yes “we have to wait until the premier league teams to decide what they’re doing” has been trotted out

we need 11 new players, they need time to settle. Would be nice if they were ready for august 5th rather than September 1st

We do have player though? People going on like we can't field an XI. Madness. We easily have the players to get through some friendlies against Exeter and FGR.

The signings will come And all I'm saying is that the Prem teams historically release players for loan later in the window. They like to see them in pre season to judge where they are at. We'll get our quota of 4-5 of them when that market opens up.

We’re a funny bunch.

Years of moaning that SISU would sell players at the drop of a hat for a quarter of our perceived value.

Finally we’re standing strong and asking for what we believe is the right price - Moan.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

We can field an 11 but wouldn’t it be good to have a starting XI ready to go against Leicester? The loans comment is rubbish - the top loans go pretty early, what you’re left with in late august is the ones the prem sides don’t have a place for (not to say they’re not better than we’ve got)

move said it before - we get told the same crap on a yearly basis. we need to wait until the prem teams , they need time to bed in - meaning we’re not ready until the end of September.

currently our 11 is

wilson

dasilva
Bidwell
Mcfadzean
sheaf
Burroughs

Hamer
kelly
Allen
Palmer

Gyokeres (if he comes back)/ Godden

we then need to fill 9 sub spots.

It’s not about the friendlies - it’s about putting a team out against arguably the hardest start in the lesgue

Just discussed Vik on talkSPORT, said they are suprised a club like Brentford haven’t taken a look at him and amazed he’s not had more premiership interest. Said if he ends up going to Portugal for £18m it would be a steal and too cheap. So nice to see people don’t all think we are being unrealistic holding out

FFS do honestly think they aren't working to bring people in. Nobody is suggesting we start the season as we are. Even if the Vik move rumbles on we have weeks to get players in.

The loans comment clearly isn't rubbish. You are just frustrated and not thinking clearly

Just take the money

Contrary to what people believe Sporting are the only show in town. We're (Doug) is risking our biggest ever payday as a club by trying to squeeze out am extra few million. Yes thats a great tactic for a couple of weeks, but we fly to fucking Portugal in 4 days with a youth team and 9 first teamers it cannot go on

17 Million quid a 35% sell on for a man who wants out and has only 12 months left is a good enough ( and record for us) payday to rebuild the squad

He wont stay. We can’t afford him to stay.

The club can’t afford 8-10 new players without selling Gyokeres

He’s here for another year if we don’t sell him.

Repeating myself here, but how were we buying those 8-10 new players if Gyok broke his leg in the play offs?

How do you know Sporting are the only show in town? Perhaps other interested parties are gobbing off to the press.

He is clearly worth more than 15m. Someone will pay what we want I'm positive

Depends on how much of our first team is going to be made up of the loan quota though.

im happy for the Vic move to rumble on - but if that’s the case, Doug should be proactively out there investing in players.

it’s looking likely McNally is going elsewhere

Because he doesnt want a prem move

He wants to play week in week out. Agents informed any tentative approaches from prem clubs of this, hence fuck all from them

Atalanta may bid at a push

But as it stands, Sporting are the only option

The thing is the transfer window is an ever changing landscape if we sold Vik now at least we would know what we had and several weeks to build off it.

The longer it goes on potentially the weaker our position comes?

Value isn't just based on ability and potential

so it comes a stage where one side will buckle eventually. if it’s sporting then great. If it’s king then it’s a negotiation gone wrong in terms of timescale and missing out on potential targets.

We discussed this yesterday or the day before he wouldn't take a prem move to sit on the bench but would take a prem move to play.

Vik has said he wants first team football so it enhances his chances of being a regular for Sweden. most prem teams he will be a part player. sporting he’ll be no1 striker. that’s the issue
If Vik was going for money and minutes, he would be having talks with prem teams by now.

That doesn't rule out a premiership move or mean Vik doesn't want one it just cuts down the teams he will go to!

it does. He has told the club this. if he wanted a move for money then he’d be having talks with prem teams. Our hands are tied waiting for more bids from other teams.
