Gyokeres (2 Viewers)

It’s his physical attributes which really make him the player he is - will be interesting to see how that translates to a higher level. There are certainly goals that he scored last season that top flight defenders would never let him get away with. Despite his brilliance this season I still can’t shake the suspicion that he’s not as good as he thinks he is. But I’ve been underestimating him for years now and he’s about to sign for Sporting Lisbon for £20 million (ALLEGEDLY) so what do I know.

Having been raised on Coventry being in the top flight and some of the players we have had through their years (Huckerby, Ndlovu, Hadji, Keane etc), i can honestly say that gyokeres is the only player who, even when he got the ball on the half way line, i thought he could score whenever he got the ball. He may not be the best player we have had, but the anticipation of the crowd even when it was 3 on 1 that he could pull something out the bag is something i will never forget and we prob wont get to see for quite a while in sky blue. Whatever happens in the future, Gyokeres will be looked back on in the legend status at this club and i only wish him the best for what he has brought to this club
Agreed, so unfortunate for him that he didn't get the club promoted as he deserved it

I wish Gyokeres all the best and appreciate his contribution and would want him to stay but I say it again, he’s not the finished article and needs lots of chances to finish. He got 21, should have been on 30+ he isn’t even in my top 3 strikers we’ve had at the club! This deal whether it’s £17M or £20M is bloody good business.

Worth remarking that there is a direct line between the record season ticket sales and big Vik, he was star of the show when our attendances grew over the last two seasons. A brilliant servant for the club in many ways and I wish him the very best personally.

Agreed. And credit to those at the club who spotted his potential, brought him in and developed him
Hopefully there will be another success story next season

The fee is okay and hopefully Robins can do plenty with it, but this is also a sad day for me, Gyokeres and Cov just worked and as a player he was a beast and played a lot of time last season on his own up front and still delivered 22 goals and 12 assists and in a side blighted by injury. These players for us are like rocking horse shit, I firmly believe with Vik up front and better players added to the squad we would have certainly challenged the top slots next season. Still we now have I think Simms hopefully bring more players and can still challenge.

Totally agree G11 I do believe he was a good fit for us for 2 seasons but defenders had started to suss him and we'd become too one dimensional.
I wish him well though.

It was nothing to do with him that we seemed one dimensional

Im going to miss him big time.

The best striker since Keane without a shadow. Pace, strength, control, the ability to roll a defender easily, the power when running at a man, everything

He deserves his move, and has got us the biggest money we have ever had as a club

I wish him all the best, and will.miss hearing the big swede song 😔

Now, give Robins at least 12 million of this influx Doug and il believe in you
No Doug give Robins all of it and bit more if need be, that’s the least he can do so in a way the big Swede influences a promotion push.

As for Vik good luck to him I think he will go higher and maybe with the sell on clause earn us another few million.

So he's not signing a new contract with us then? Who'd have thought.

I wouldn't say defences worked him out, they always knew what he was about but could not stop him.
During his 2 dry spells with us this last season, he was playing whilst injured and still provided assists for other players.
The guy is a beast.

I would assume SL will play to his strengths or why pay so much for him.

In a weaker league without improving he could well get 30 goals and 15 assists, he does that for 2 years then he gets the big European teams after him and we get another big slice of the fee.

If he continues to improve (composure in front of goal) then he could go for mega bucks in 2 years time.

Seems like it's all done and dusted then, bar a picture of him holding a Sporting Lisbon shirt.

Can't be too sad. Players come and players go, that's football and it seems we've got exactly the kind of money we were after. We got the best out of him that we could, hope that we can do the same with Simms in the future.

Exactly. 2 years that’s all really
