To manipulate the fan baseYou think he was lying in his interview? Why?
Ha ha, got me!!Simms? Eh?
His first time strike for the goal was brilliant for that reasonI would say unpredictability is one of the greatest assets a striker can have. Isn't that what training ground moves are always looking for? a way to wrong-foot the opposition defence.
That was my first impression but I need to see a replayAm I alone in thinking that the keeper might have got his sprawling fingertips to Haji's close-range one that hit the post?

My thoughts yesterday was even how close he was when ball fell to feet, goalies hands were right there + the defender on the line gave very little (if any) real space to get it in. Thought a lot of the stirup at Haji for missing was misguided frustration. Glad for the brace, so that moment now gets buried deeper a bit in favor of the 2inNeed a replay from the other side of the goal to see that. I've watched it numerous time and you can't tell. I had a decent view of it live and it looked as though he just hit the post but the goalie did sprawl to cover most of the goal with a defender behind him.
I didn't think so but... the keeper was on him, the defender was right n front of him on the line - I actually thought he did well to find the gap and was unlucky it didn't go in!Am I alone in thinking that the keeper might have got his sprawling fingertips to Haji's close-range one that hit the post?
One of the worst technically gifted footballers at this level? Even if you've only followed Coventry City for the 1 game just gone that's nonsense... if you've followed for as long as I have it's downright laughable.

Very little else he could do in reality.
Equally, the defender is very lucky it didnt just cannon off him into the net. He knew nothing about it.
Personally I think the keeper did well to get a touch on it.His first time strike for the goal was brilliant for that reason
Sure the keeper should have saved it but he wasn’t set
I mean he did scuff the ball which didn’t help direct it tbf.View attachment 34000

In the last 10 games (including 2 bit part appearances after coming back from injury) he has 8 G/A. I agree there is a lot more to come from him but over the last 10, there is plenty to be excited about.Wright remains a bit of an enigma.
Periods of poor play, periods of good play, offsides, poor control, scuffed shots, poor decisions, good decisions, goals.
He has to be far more consistent before people get over excited.
He is certainly a bit of a one off with a patchy career to date. How much can our coaches improve him?
I did. I said it was a Premier League level bit of play.I think it's quite telling no one's commented on him sending a defender to the shops with a turn after his second goal.
Each time Sakamoto pulls that one off, folks are calling it out. Haji Wright has skill, works hard, scores goals. Love him.
This is part of the point, he clearly makes very clean good contact with the ball but you still make the point of it potentially being a miss kick. Why not just take it for what it is, a clean well taken penalty instead of searching for a way to make it look poor and unintended.@Deleted member 9744 is it really astonishing though? really...? this is what I mean, I'm not 100% convinced he meant to catch the keeper out for example.... it's not obvious with him, could have easily just been a miss kick. You see a different player which is what football is all about, opinions.
As for his strengths, what are they? Because it's not finishing and in the first half their defenders won every ball or his couldn't get hold of it when it was played up to him.
He definitely looks more comfortable on the wing, cutting in or running, but he's a big guy who is bullied by defenders far too easily for me, would like to see him get angry.
I'm aware that I'm probably being a little harsh but like I said, I just can't work him out.

I did. I said it was a Premier League level bit of play.
Too kind!
Considering Prem teams were interested in him, I’m sure that’s his ceiling…Genuinely pleased for Wright, great that he's scoring goals but I just can't see how he does it?
He is one of the worst technically gifted footballers I've seen at this level. The finishers almost seem accidental, you never know what will happen when he shoots (I don't think he does either), his second goal could easily have been intended for the far corner for example...
If you take away the pen win (Tanganga is awful btw), the goals and a little mazy run on the wing, the rest of his play was so poor.... he can't control a ball if it's off the ground, for his size he has no strength and the miss 2 yards out is so bad. I still can't decide if he is quick or not either...
I'm not wanting to slate him or any of the lads as I'm amazed that we are where we are in the league, but I just can't work him out as I don't see a footballer in there.
I remember watching him playing here in Denmark years ago and he was exactly the same, he's clearly done really well to get to where he has, fair play but I'm not sure where his ceiling is?
Anyway, keep the goals coming and I hope he can polish the rest of his game, because if he can then that's another 20m player.
Pace & attacking movement
Double in my opinionif he was bought for £7.7m how much is he worth now?
