People weren't connected when there was 6,000 - 13,000 up there too.

Even in the darkest of days, there was always a handful who used to make an effort. There's pretty much zero now. Even the drummer has given up.

Maybe people just don't want ro sing anymore , I cant be arsed I just sit and watch because I'm a boring c**t

And that's absolutely mate. That's the general consensus with the majority.

It's just a shame because we've allowed what's happened on the pitch to dictate it. We've become like any other midtable Championship side who can churn out 25,000+ and sit in the silence.

It's like the meme from Anfield or Sheffield United about the place being mute after the pre-game anthem.

Can't disagree tbf

Think that's the biggest thing I notice. We don't 'will them on' anymore which sounds mad. We used to genuinely make a difference, now its all a bit meh

There does feel a disconnect tbf

In my view, the style of play really can't help the atmosphere. We don't counter attack any more nor to we keep attacking the box. We slow it down , slow it down, slow it down and then pass around the back. So fans will start talking to the people next to them or going to the bar. The kids can't be gripped by that either. If there's nothing happening on the pitch to get fans going, they'll stay quiet

It's since we started singing that dreadful song at the start of the match, I swear that's the only reason some people go. The sooner that cringey gimmick is dropped the better.

Does seem that way doesn't it. Always sounds a bit half hearted and fades away very quickly.

(at home games anyway)

I can’t even get behind it at away games. Although, like Evo, I’m there for the football. If you catch me singing then get the camera out.

Bit of everything.
coming back after Covid and in the championship we had that underdog mentality as fans. Games like forest at home etc where there was the will to push forward.

more songs for players too at that time. However, even last season we did have good atmosphere games (Leicester for example, again underdog). I recall wba at home being a dreadful one atmosphere wise.

this season seems like in previous games we have conceded too early for it to get going. The only good atmosphere we had was the Oxford game imo.
Other than that we as fans are waiting for something to spur the chants, and it should be the other way around.

Success and complacency I guess.

Why? Genuine question.

Dunno really. Just stopped being bothered about that side of things ages ago. Doing the miles and being present is support enough to me, I’m happy to just stand and watch the game.

Not saying I never sing, just…not often.

It's chicken and egg, which comes first?

We don't have the players that get you on the edge your seat with exciting attacking football these days.

Yeah that's fair enough.

And O’Hare. The EMC and Saka songs are a wordy mess, the “since I was young” and some of the other ones are crap. We never sing twist and shout or the old songs and the other player ones are awful. Bassette and Thomas being prime examples. Both poor versions of better songs we sang until recently (and Bobby Thomas has a tiny turtle head that isn’t massive at all).
Yeah-time to get a rendition of Lilly the Pink going-an old classic.

I also think our home support feeds off a decent away support to compete with, but away fan noise has been really lacking this season so far.
The gap between both sets of fans can't help either

Had a lot going on recently so not been too as many games as I’d like but went up today and I was really disappointed with the atmosphere, can’t fault that people are trying but was just a really poor atmosphere.

Makes me laugh when I see posts saying because the away fans have moved that the atmosphere has been affected. What’s the issue? Is it because you can’t get a good view of them pulling at the netting over the seats?

I will cheer and sing songs about the players. I won't sing a song by some trampy brummies about some toilets and being from a town.

One is from Birmingham and moved to Cov as a kid.

The word 'town' is used to describe any city centre. Even Londoners used to say they were going 'up town'.

We've tried to be too clever with the songs, the away die hards love them because they all crammed together so they can actually hear what the lyrics are. Sakamoto's is crap, EMCs new one is crap. Bobby Thomas you can only sing if Kitching is playing. Tavares (he's better than Figo...ffs), Haji Wrights is probably the best one.

Gone are the days of:

We've got o'Hare...
He's Brazilian....
We've got a big swede on our side...
1,2,3,4 oh oh we've got Michael Doyle...
Super Matty Godden
