My missus showed it to me and we have just spent the whole afternoon shaking our heads in total dismay.

We had a 9 year old Ukrainian girl stay with us, when we accommodated her family for a year and she was so innocent and so childlike, as obviously she should have been.

But even trying to imagine her as being married, just seems completely incredulous.

It's insane.

What the actual fuck. That's absolutely vile disgusting and absurd. I've got a 7 year old daughter and in no way this should ever be accepted in any way shape or form I'm actually fucked off even more seeing this. Fucking ridiculous. Where is the Human rights order to deal with this kind of sick issue.

Yes it is awful but it’s a religion that thinks women are inferior so what does anyone really expect

I agree with Earlsdon massively though

Apologies Pete I was on about the op emoji as it was the love one, obviously I know U didn't mean that was just letting U that's all but now it's changed will delete both my comments. I've just had a stressful week and everything is annoying me at the moment apologies

Fucking disgusting.

And also dangerous. The likelihood of a 9-10y-o surviving childbirth (or the child) is really low. And even if they did their bodies would be ruined.

@SkyBlueCharlie9 will be along soon to call you all racist and offensive
No just you Dim lad. This an interesting grown up thread/conversation not deliberately stoking racial stereotypes, although you and a couple of others will try their upmost hardest. Any religion/church which supports an under age sex/marriage should be immediately and comprehensively banned. Anyone practising it or encouraging it in UK should be jailed immediately. No evidence that this is not the case.

Can nobody see the issue with thousands of Iranian blokes coming into the country?

Is it allowed to be mentioned about things here or is it only if it's miles away?

One of my best mates Iranian, what point are you trying to make?

The point is that if you have thousands of people coming into the country unvetted who have grown up thinking it's OK to marry / have sex with 9 year olds then it's a worry. Especially if they then claim to be teenagers and get placed in schools.

That's not that every single once is a sex offender, it's more that it's accepted in their culture.

He doesn't believe any of that. Should I let him know to change his attitudes to fit your stereotype?

Which is why I have said it doesn't mean that every Iranian is a sex offender.

Like I said, amazing how it's racist and people have an issue when you mention people moving from that country to here.

You literally just edited your post after I had responded. Why have you pulled the "racist" card when it hasn't been mentioned?

All people are capable of freedom of thought to hold their own views and opinions, regardless of who they are or where they're from. Hence....

Catfish killer used my photo as bait for others – victim

I'm not sure what your point is, I never said that there aren't sex offenders that are white.

I haven't pulled any card, just pointing out you jumped in on me when I pointed out about people coming here (or anywhere else) from a country where it's OK to marry and have sex with a 9 year old.

Likewise if somebody is brought up in a country where they wanted gays to be killed (but now they just go to prison for a long time) then they are more likely to grow up in a culture with a completely different view to it than here.

A shit tonne of people in most countries don't get to decide what the government thinks or what their policies are. And that's in a democracy, never mind an authoritarian regime.

For example, I didn't agree with the previous governments transphobic stance, many on here did. There you go, prime example of people being able to hold their own views and opinions.

On a side note, is there a particular reason why you're talking about Iran when the article is about Iraq?

It always amazes me how so many people on the left side of the political spectrum are so shit scared to criticise Islam. It's practices and attitudes towards women, LGBT, refugees etc are all absolutely appalling and go against everything that the left are supposed to be - yet there is always just silence or deflection, like we are seeing on this thread.

If that's aimed at me, I think you'll find I'm vehemently against everything that Islam stands for, but I happen to have the ability to separate the ideology of a religion from individuals.

Sorry, that one is my bad.

I assume in Iran it's illegal to marry children?

Betond belief tbh.
It's like in over 20 centuries we have learnt nothing.

One thing I hate about religion, is that pretty much across the board, females are, or have been, devalued, treated awfully and left without a voice.

Why are we going backwards instead of forwards?

I haven't seen anyone who's scared to criticise this.

The real problem is with the people on the right who think that Muslims all across the world, including in the U.K., believe and act in exactly the same way, and then use the most extreme examples to foment fear and hatred. It's both really stupid and needlessly offensive.

Also, it's a bit rich being lectured on women's rights, LGBTQ issues, or refugees and their legal rights, by anyone on the right (where they commonly seem to struggle with these concepts). It's almost as if there's a massive, hypocritical, blind spot.
