Don't you think common sense should be used rather than an invisible line? It's not in Coventry though. It would be the same as the FA knocking down Wembley and building a new stadium in Gretna.

Does that mean you would say Baginton is outside of Coventry too? As well as Coventry airport?
Not this you have to live in Cov to support cov bullshit again? I live outside of Cov but closer to the Ricoh than most?

Is Birmingham airport "technically" in Birmingham? There is no point in ridiculous and irrelevant questions. Like I said if you dont use the Coventry border as the "line" where should this "line" be?

I just think it should be based on common sense. It is up to individuals if they class it as Coventry. If it is slightly outside what the council say their boundary is then I'm not fussed.
If people really would refuse to support "Coventry City" because it was slightly outside the council border then I guess it would be a bit petty.

Playing a yard/100 yards/a mile over the border is a bit petty too.
But the ricoh IS in Coventry ffs.
Not if they have no choice as there is nowhere else to build one?
If there were plenty of alternative sites inside the border and planning permission would be granted and SISU chose not to out of spite then yes it would be petty.
But if it was 500 yards down the road would you have stopped supporting the club?

Probably not.But theres no chance ill travel to a stadium 8/9 miles away.

The building of the Ricoh was a different situation. That was about trying to progress the club (admittedly its been a disaster).
Any future ground will be built on the basis that Joy Seppala doesn't like Coventry Council. I don't really see why we as a city should be robbed of our football club potentially for the next 100 years because of her.
If the stupid bitch doesn't like Coventry Council she shouldn't have bought a business in Coventry should she?
no part of you resents councils for being dicks? not one part?
fuck me both sides are dicks, why ar epeople taking sides.

If we genuinely cannot return to the Ricoh (and i firmly believe that we will go back there at some point) then the only acceptable alternative is a new ground within the City boundary.
Did i say you have to live in Coventry to support the team?
I appreciate the people from Warwickshire who support the club but they're not going to have the emotional attachments to the city/club connection like us cov kids are they.
Read it again before jumping down my throat you mug.
I totally agree and if there were viable sites and the council would give planning permission but SISU decided not to to take us miles away then I could see the point.
Grimsby Town are still called Grimsby even if they play just outside aren't they?
I would be interested to see how many city fans travel from outside of Coventry. I would say it's a high figure in relative terms .20-30%??
Maybe people feel like it due to one side saying the club can play there whereas the other side won't entertain the idea.

Just a few facts for those wingeing about playing just outside the border:
Manchester united play in Stretford......Just outside the city!
Grimsby Town play in Cleethorpes.........Outside the City!
Nottingham forest play in the town of West Bridgford...Just outside the city!
Bolton Wanderers play in the neighbouring town of Horwich....just outside the city!
So people wake up!....we are not the first club it has happened to and if we do end up in a new stadium just outside the City and I mean just outside....so what!!!...we still have our proud club and if you don't like it don't GO!
CJ be careful you don't start the whole "WE NEED TO OWN THE FREEHOLD!" argument .........
Is that relevant?
Why are there no viable sites?

Just a few facts for those wingeing about playing just outside the border:
Manchester united play in Stretford......Just outside the city! - Manchester United are not a "city" team. They have never played within the boundary of the city of Manchester so thats irrelevant.
Grimsby Town play in Cleethorpes.........Outside the City! - Grimsby is not a city for a start but that aside, they have lost a huge section of their fan base as a result of their move out of Grimsby and in my view should no longer be able to call themselves Grimsby Town - just as we could not be called Coventry City if we settled permanently outside of the City.
Nottingham forest play in the town of West Bridgford...Just outside the city! - West Bridgford is a suburb of Nottingham, not a town. That aside when the City Ground was built it was within the official Nottingham City Boundary hence why it was called the City Ground! Its the boundary that moved, not the club.
Bolton Wanderers play in the neighbouring town of Horwich....just outside the city! - this one is a fair point as the fans were originally very unhappy with the move out of Bolton but just because they have done it doesn't mean that we should. Their ground is still within the borough of Bolton and within the jurisdiction of Bolton Borough Council so its not the same as us building a stadium in Warwickshire, Leicestershire or any other shire you care to name.
The difference is all those clubs play within their conurbation.
Coventry has very clear defined boundaries. There is no "Greater Coventry" so to speak. Pretty much all of our urban area lies within the city.
Very relevant as the people who travel would be more inclined to follow the team if a stadium was outside the city . I know a lot of mates in Coventry who simply couldn't be arsed to go to the ricoh.
