We can't ask Wasps for more and take them to court surely ?
Like the new stadium then
We're not taking them to court.

JR2 evidently if JR1 fails in July.
There are hight restrictions for buildings around the airport, the factory i work at for example is not allowed to build upwards. Wouldn't that hinder the chances of a stadium being built?
I wouldn't think that such a development in Baginton is going to be plain sailing in terms of planning which means time and money costs
- the local residents are not going to be happy (Baginton and down through in to Finham)
- The infra structure round Tollbar end might be being improved but the roads around the airport leave many problems
- there will be considerable parking issues
- CCC carries a considerable interest in the area and will need to be involved in planning that's apparently an issue for SISU
- public transport is at the moment insufficient and will require CCC involvement
- out of town retail sites are not flavour of the month (will need retail to support build costs), is there even a need in the area for another retail site? That could be a problem if the stadium is to be piggy backed on other developments
- will additional retail be viewed positively against plans already in place?
- it is still greenbelt despite it being involved in the Gateway project. That Gateway project seems to have been centred on warehousing which would see less in the way of traffic peaks etc
- Floodlights so close to the runway might be an issue- especially when there is little other light pollution in the area
- is there a planning issue with the Ryton Training base so close? It has already been turned down for other uses hasn't it?
Not too long to wait to find out where as the initial planning has to be in by September. After that if it is that site I can foresee many challenges and even if successful the first brick not being laid for years
Wouldn't a developer need to at least brief the surrounding authorities if there is an infrastructure implication?
This is the original gateway plan

....but...but...but...but..Wasps want us there....the council and ann only want what is best for CCFC like Wasps...
Wasps definitely want us there, we pay rent and provide other incomes for them.
The art is getting access to those incomes whilst we are there.
So what you're saying is, wasps will want to squeeze us for every penny they can get out of us?

Stadiums (unless you're building the San Siro or Nou Camp etc) aren't any bigger than your average airport terminals now. If anything, modern terminals are probably taller than the likes of St Marys, iPro, Ricoh etc.
No.
Wasps will need to make it more advantageous to stay than to move out into a new stadium.
Yes.
Thinking about it you may be right as a stadium is not possible.
Given they have experience of knowing how hard it is to get planning permission, etc, they will know that the odds are firmly stacked against a new stadium, which unfortunately puts our club at a massive disadvantage in any negotiations

On a slight side note, somebody handed in a lost £2 lottery ticket to me at work today (I come across as a trusting sole - think that's what they sayointlaugh and I'm going to check the numbers when the lottery is drawn on Saturday. Dilemma - if it is a winner (a big winner) - do I do the right thing and buy the stadium, or should I try and find the rightful owner of the ticket? I'm going with the majority vote/response (note abdication of responsibility)!

The Butts would be awful because no fucker can get there, might have escaped your notice but 97.5855943% of support comes from inside the ringroad and most can't be arsed to cross because it's dangerous so who will bother with a rural hike, no-one unless we are the new Barcelona. Club would be dead within a couple of years. In fact just in time for Coventry United to climb a couple of more leagues and pitch in for the vacant slot at the Ricoh !
Have you noticed the 6 lane A444 outside the Ricoh?
He is. There are 6 lanes outside the Ricoh.
Baginton is just a joke. Siskin drive is probably too far to walk from Baginton village itself never mind Coventry. As busy as the A444 is it is an arterial road within a city as opposed to a city bypass which the a46 is. Siskin drive is virtually inaccessible other than by motor transport. I use toll barr end every day and to walk from Willenhall to siskin drive would mean crossing kamikazi island and although the new roadworks will reduce the volume of traffic its not easy and can't be compared to the A444 at the Ricoh. Also traffic from siskin drive would be clogged with even a 5000 crowd
I thought they were going to include a pedestrian walkway at Tollbar. You'd have to assume Issues like these would be addressed over possibly a ten year window for any site
Baginton is a long way (in relative football ground location terms) from any local population, with hardly any being able to walk to it especially having to negotiate the A46 even after the tunnel has been built there is only 1 access road. unfortunately the "walk up is key" if a 100% need to get their by car or public transport it won't work.
I walk upBollocks. The Ricoh is hardly a "walk up" venue either, is it?
I walk up
As I understand it, the site being suggested is not the airport (or even the Gateway site), but just across the river from there in Rugby Borough’s territory.
Administrative boundaries don’t matter much to me, and that is still pretty much Coventry. But one of the biggest problems people have with the Ricoh is that it is slightly too detached from the city – and this would be far worse in my opinion. Beyond the outer bypass, not even very well joined to the nearby industrial estates and warehouses. Little prospect of anyone going on foot from within the city, and parking looking very difficult to sort out. Not a clever site if CCFC want to build regular big crowds.
Furthermore, this is just across the road from the old Peugeot site, where by Tim Fisher’s admission land values were far too expensive for us. And if SISU think everyone else is asleep while they search for bargain plots, they are deluded. You don’t even need one hand to count the realistic sites on the edge of the city.
Just to be clear, if CCFC could build a brilliant atmospheric new stadium in a good location, I’d be more than happy. This doesn’t look like it to me though.
I'm sure you do Mr Smartypants, but it's not like HR when I would imagine a good percentage did. The majority of people who go to the Ricoh go by car, taxi or public transport.
You'd be surprised how many do walk, Torch. A lot from Longford, Foleshill and Alderman's Green way and I see a fair few heading from Radford when I walk up myself too.
