US has closed their Embassy in Israel, had a message from a friend in LA who works for a Jewish owned Company, now she is working but a lot of the staff are missing. They had a note around that the Police are on heightened alert.

Stay safe everybody.

Who's everybody?

Backing the US in one conflict but Russia in another?

Im actually pretty consistent - from a western perspective we should have zero involvement in these conflicts and let nature - as it were - take it’s course - neither are our fight

Then that means allowing the more powerful ‘side’ to always prevail. Not intervening is not the neutral act it appears to be.

I just don’t think it’s the Wests job to play policeman and let’s be honest if China do take Taiwan no one will do a thing

In other words let the bigger countries run roughshod over smaller ones

Or let the even bigger countries take a side and let them win and then control them - welcome to the world

And yet they still come. And from much further away too.

Maybe we should get involved. So people aren’t displaced by turning a blind eye to the people who create refugees.

they come from France tony

How naive is it to say it’s not the West’s responsibility. Who else is going to pick up the pieces? Russia? China? Iran? Do me a favour. It will be the West, no one will be crossing a continent on foot to find refuge in Russia, China won’t be doing fundraising for the inevitable refugees so that leaves Iran who are only involved to fuck shit up.

Why should anyone pick up any pieces? Are you suggesting the US are going to take Palestinian refugees Tony? Wow look forward to seeing that.

What a strange thing to say - the west will only pick up pieces if it can gain power and influence

Can't see the UK controlling anyone.

So, in reality, you are only talking in terms of China, Russia and the US.

What a depressing thought.

They come from places like Afghanistan because we abandoned them during our botched retreat.

So the uk are responsible now for the Afghanistan crises. Just the Uk

No I’m not saying that, which is why you’re saying that I am. It’s pretty clear which path they’ll take and it will be already established path from the region. Europe, including us. The pieces will be arriving on our beaches, we will be powerless and have no influence on their decision to come here and powerless to send them away. Palestinian refugees coming to a hotel near you while our government championed the government that made them refugees.

So to confirm. It's not the fault of the people who attacked but those who got attacked and did nothing to stop it?
Did nothing to prevent it even though they had advanced notice something was about to happen, is the point. The individual acts are of course on the people who committed them. We keep being told that Israel has the right to defend itself, which in itself is 100% correct. Problem is if they’re given advanced notice, which it’s becoming more apparent they were, then prepare to defend yourself. They have the fourth (I think) largest army in the world. It’s hard to believe that they didn’t have either the manpower or the resources to up their defences along the Gaza Strip. Especially around residential areas. Netanyahu failed and the optics make it look like it was a deliberate failure. Unless you can think of another reason that he’d ignore intelligence from a neighbouring country who despite historically being an enemy felt compelled to warn Israel or ignore intelligence from the US who are historically their closest ally and probably worst of all ignore his own intelligence agency. His own intelligence agencies who also happens to be one of the most sophisticated in the world. Why on earth would he ignore all that? It doesn’t add up.

It might just be because like most right wing populists he isn't actually very competent. See also Johnson, Trump, Bolsonaro...
