To be fair I’d have a play around with the current 5-3-3 and 4-3-3. We have one DM and two more attacking 8s.

As such excluding Eccles we would have

DM - Grimes, Sheaf, Allen
CM - Torp, Rudoni, Allen.

Personally think Grimes will play the holding role and wouldn’t want him as a 8 as that’s where I’ve seen him do his work at Swansea.

Think This means if Tahirovic comes in we would see the return of the double pivot with Grimes and Sheaf with Allen and Tahirovic backing up.

If such wouldn’t need Paterson as would have two tens to play that role but if we played two 8s would be a bit light unless we push Sheaf or Grimes there

Nullifies Rudoni though who can’t play in the hole.

If its a loan with an option that works better. Gives us opportunity to spend a few months finding out about him first
Weird loan tho considering we don’t really know where he would fit in and how much game time he would get.

Understand future proofing Sheaf but feel we’ve done that with Grimes for now with Allen backing up and the focus could turn to someone like Lewis Bate at Stockport who I feel could play both to replace Eccles

Nothing more than a hunch but if Tahrovic is on I wouldn’t be surprised at all if someone is looking at Sheaf. If someone is desperate enough to pay us around 10m in this window I wouldn’t be against it at all if we have a replacement lined up

If he was leaving this window and not Eccles think it would be a great buy tbf

Tahirovic is an international player and played in Italy and Holland. He would clearly be a better propect than a Stockport player

Sure he would be but we don’t have unlimited funds, if we sign where would he play not to mention the wages being a hold up for him before in August.

If sheaf was sold great but without that we’d seemingly have three amazing DMs for one spot and three 8s for two spots. Unless he can play higher up

Sheaf would clearly go this summer. A year left on his contract. This means we get his replacements before he leaves.

Maybe this is where I’m wrong as I thought Grimes was the Sheaf replacement.

If we play double pivot then would say great but that would place Rudoni and Torp into the centre where I think they struggle to play as well as on the left and right of midfield

If Frank sees Grimes as higher up or if he can also great but if not it would us with an additional expensive player without the RB or RW we could do with this year

Can’t see this one happening, already turned us down and we’ve just signed grimes. That being said he’s got something about him and is clearly highly rated so I wouldn’t be against it

He fancies 3 in midfied and we would then need 6. With Allen Torp Rudoni then Sheaf or Eccles is the 6th

That was before Lampard came in though, no? Think people underestimate the impact he will have on attracting signings.

Only makes sense if they're not planning on offering Allen a renewal and want a younger more high profile player in instead with a profitable sell on value in the future
