Completely agree (how dumb will this look when Saddle posts it tonightIsn’t happening mate lol, no chance
Not once place that’s reliable has said we’re in for him, if he or anyone else was to say we are it’s pure guessworkCompletely agree (how dumb will this look when Saddle posts it tonight)
Just need one of the ITK to come out and squash the rumoursCompletely agree (how dumb will this look when Saddle posts it tonight)
Big JH is due an appearance at some point mateJust need one of the ITK to come out and squash the rumours
That means Jack shit, it does'nt make Simms any better,I'm gonna name 3 pound for pound worse strikers than Simms, just off the top of my head Moldovan, Bellamy and Hughes.
And that’s a JH promise.Big JH is due an appearance at some point mate
Have not missed his “12pm announcement” posts that never came true.I wonder what happened to George Smith. I hope he's ok.
In fairness vik gave us assists too , and quite a fewSo what? He scored 2 v Wolves, 1 against Man U and Leeds.
This scored in ‘x’ league games stat is a distortion of stats. Wright only scored in 12 league games and he’s a penalty taker, in fact, open goals only, they scored in the exact same amount of games.
To compare, I’m going to deliberately distort Gyokeres’ record in 22/23 using your methodology. Vik played 50 games for us in 22/23 and he scored 22 goals over 19 matches. Which means he didn’t score in 62% of his appearances. Only 4 (18%) of his goals were scored against a team placed higher than us in the table (Sheff U, Millwall, Watford and Sunderland).
With some effort, you can distort stats to fit a narrative.
Yeah but now I’ve got more covs fan saying it’s sorted. Losing my mind with em
That means Jack shit, it does'nt make Simms any better,
Face Simms is No Good, we should get rid, probably make a loss but take it on the chin and move on!!!
PUSB

What have there whole careers got to do with it? It was stated earlier in the thread that Simms was pound for pound one of our worst signings ever! For us maybe, but not over their whole careers.
I feel our recruitment team have crunched too many stats and ignored the basic principle that football chemistry is human chemistry.
Just don't think our striker situation was managed very well in the summer and into the season.
Signing both BTA and Bassette is proving to be a waste of resources, one of the two would've been better.
Simms didn't set the world alight but finally got his goal v Watford, was then dropped for the following game and hasn't been back in the team consistently since.
The front line is now very lopsided, you have Wright and EMC on the left who, given their performances this season, are probably the first two names on the team sheet when fit. Then Simms, Bassette and BTA in the middle are all a much of a muchness. Then we only really have Tats on the right, Raphael doesn't seem ready at all.
Would've been much better using that £2.5m for BTA on a proper RW who could also play left at a push, and persevering with Simms with Wright also playing centrally at times. Bassette being the understudy with a focus on his development. Rapha given the occasional sub appearance.
Now it's just all a mess.

I can understand that, but I do wonder if it had an effect on Simms? Seeing 2 central strikers come in for decent money may have been playing on his mindThink Bassette was one that just came up “cheap” so they went for him TBH

Nobody is making excuses for him. The people who see his good attributes and what he has contributed are merely backing him to come good. You'd have to question why he's a footballer if he can't handle competition , the amount of excuses for him under performing are beginning to stack up

Perhaps the anti Simms crusaders should make themselves a special thread, where they can sit and blame everything that is wrong with the team this year, on him. If it will make them feel better. I'll continue to back him and others who I think will come good.Nah, Evo is right. There have been a lot of excuses. It is a bit like a certain other player who is supposed to be leading by example.
If he is isn't playing well, it is the fault of just about everything else other than the player themself.
Who by the way was shite again at the weekend. Pity he’s got himself injured during the transfer window.Nah, Evo is right. There have been a lot of excuses. It is a bit like a certain other player who is supposed to be leading by example.

It's not an excuse, I'm not Ellis Simms lmaoYou'd have to question why he's a footballer if he can't handle competition , the amount of excuses for him under performing are beginning to stack up

Just trying to think about why he is not performing/scoring at the same level this season.
He's got very obvious limitations but I still think he can be very effective at this level and is worth keeping.
I don't think Simms will ever be that effective coming off the bench. He can be effective sure , I think he needs to start showing it even if he's not starting and I think that's fair
Alright providing he runs in the right direction. We were linked with him before
