This is why I've moved to the posh stand for the cup game , because I can't be near you right now .

Have you?! Don’t come back. I made the mistake of sitting in 27 for the Cardiff game. Awful. We’ll never have better seats than the ones we have now. I’ll be throwing bitter looks in your general direction.

Moldovan needed more game time although we were spoilt for forwards at the time I recall so didn't. Little fox in the box type.

Bellamy and Hughes were both wankers but talented players.
Bellamy did more to get us relegated than almost any other player. Couldn’t finish for toffee that season.

Hughes was a bang average footballer, awful touch, the less said about him the better …..

We’ll have to agree to disagree! You can of course be very happy I'm not head of recruitment 😂

Where are we getting £20 million from?
Why would we spend £20m on 1 player, for any club in this division, that is pure careless.

If Sunderland don't get promoted that 20m will be needed to continue on the path towards promotion.

20m could get you 3 or 4 real good players when needed, to me it's silly of a club that has made this mistake in the past.

In fairness not many championship clubs can pay that for 1 player
Indeed, in fact Derby, Pompy and Oxford have entire squads that are not worth much more than this….

The gap between the rich and poor in the championship is massive now. Oxford £20 million squad value whereas Burnley are £180 million. According to transfermrkt.

Perhaps the anti Simms crusaders should make themselves a special thread, where they can sit and blame everything that is wrong with the team this year, on him. If it will make them feel better. I'll continue to back him and others who I think will come good.

This is quite a bit of an overreaction.

I haven't seen a single person blaming the whole teams woes on Simms. He clearly has the ability as we saw it last season, but there are a lot of people that think he seems to be lacking the desire to show it this season.

I know you are a trusted ITK, but I think the fact people are willing to give you a like for writing practically anything has gone to your head a bit. If a player is underperfoming, it's reasonable to ask why without making up 100 excuses. It doesn't mean anyone wants him to fail or thinks he won't bounce back.

An overreaction? I merely suggested that there could be a separate thread for those wanting to dig out the same player relentlessly.
This is a transfer window thread after all no?

Interesting response to someone who wants to back players, rather than constantly dig them out.
I'm observant enough to know it's not simply questioning a player who is underperforming and most people on here can see that too.

Nothing has gone to my head, I don't care for 'likes', and don't pay attention to things like that. I'm pretty sure most grown adults are the same.

Moldovan was a very good player. Signing him sent Dublin and Huckerby, who were already playing very well, to another level.

He was a victim of his own arrival! Strachan tried to shoehorn the 3 of them in away at Chelsea and it just didn't work.

But we'll always have 'that' goal.

Josh Windass btw, who we all laughed at in the summer, 10 goals and 2 assists. On fire atm. Wouldn’t mind him now.
Always thought he would be a great signing, too many people here are obsessed with this so called “model” that means no players over 25 or were moving backwards

I agree and it is important that excuses are not made up for under performing players. But it is also important bullshit rumours aren't made up for under performance.

Yes, it's an overreaction to suggest people are blaming the whole teams woes on Simms. As it was to say a new thread should be created so people could effectively have a go at him.

I am sure you are an observant fellow, but not every question that gets asked of a player means you hate them and want them to fail. It was a pretty peaceful and constructive discussion I thought, and it is relevant enough.

I personally think he needs prolonged run in the team before we're likely to see an improvement, but I'm not sure he'll be afforded that given such competition with the other strikers.

You don't have much empathy do you?

He's a 23 year old guy, all the outrage about performances gets a bit silly when you remember the players are actual humans at the end of the day

From the person who just put a laughing emoji on a response to Shmmeees post about his mate dying from alcoholism

Self awareness definitely not your strong point.

Seriously though… if/when we do sell Haji we need to buy an American replacement. Fond memories of team with a yank in the squad.

Roy Wegerle, Cobi Jones, Jack McBean (😬) … Alexi Lalas… oh wait.

Meanwhile Sunderland are making ambitious signings like this, that’s an owner with ambition

And a big debt problem if they don't get promoted. :ROFLMAO:

I think the only people triggered by my suggestion to take it to another thread, are those who are guilty of exactly the point I was making.

We can respectfully agree to disagree on whether or not the same people are constantly going at the same player in multiple threads.
As has been pointed out, it's a forum, I voiced my opinion.
I'll continue to back players, because that's the type of person I am.

If people want to agree with something someone writes on here, and they 'like' it, that can't be helped. It's a weird thing to be upset about.

I hope he does get a good run in the team, the same with Kitching.

Spot on the money. Just compare the crowd reactions to when Bassette makes a mistake v Simms/BTA.

On Kitching, there’s been this narrative that he’s a tosser that’s been banded about which has turned opinion against him. Plenty of comment like ‘clearly Lampard doesn’t rate him’ or ‘he’s on his way out’ because he wasn’t selected for a match.

This player was arguably our best CB last season in a team whose defensive record was about 9th in the league. Looking at where we’re at now, I’d 100% take that and on Saturday, it was a snippet that he’s potentially what we’ve been missing.

I can understand that, but I do wonder if it had an effect on Simms? Seeing 2 central strikers come in for decent money may have been playing on his mind

It may be that Doug makes signings with the idea in following window to sell your star.

Such as Sheaf, Simms, Wright etc

The people around me are likeminded, they see the good attributes, and also where the real problems arise from. Totally agree on the crowd reactions, amusing.

It's strange with Kitching, I obviously see the things that go around online about his supposed character. I asked the question, but got the impression that he is well liked among the players, staff etc. I don't know if maybe he gained some sort of reputation in his Barnsley days and that has carried over? I did wonder if his sendings off contributed to him being dropped, but couldn't find out anything.
I heard he'd been ill when Lampard first came in, and wasn't quite match ready. Not sure how true that is, as I believe he was still making the bench.

I think I mentioned before, right at the start of the season, we had 2 clean sheets with him and Thomas. Then he was suddenly dropped again, I can't remember if it was because we switched to a back 3 or not. I do remember thinking its was a mistake, as like you say, last season, he was good in my eyes. Prone to a mistake or two, like all of them, but good. I like the fact that he has a bit of bite in him.
