Meanwhile Sunderland are making ambitious signings like this, that’s an owner with ambition

OK, I'll bite.

Roma spunking money on him doesn't mean he's good. If they're happy to dump him after a few games and half a season, not a great look.

It looks like a pretty lazy signing as he played for their manager at Lorient. Anyone know why he got picked up? Doesn't score or assist much.

Christ, the list of duff pound for pound strikers is light. I’d like to offer Drinkell, Lamptey, Brazil, Kyle, Eastwood and Chaplin. And that’s not even scratching the surface. On Simms he’s fine if you want goal output. I’d hope he’s working seriously hard on his all round game. His style and demeanour has, I would suggest, cost him starts recently as Bassette has been preferred as far as I can see solely because he hassles defences.

None of our centre forwards look like troubling the keeper this season so running around is all they have.

Chaplin??

I know the Helik rumour seems to be bilge but it wouldn’t be the worst idea. He always looks pretty solid to me.

On the downside I remember going to Huddersfield in the play-off season and Warnock saying something like “Gyökeres is supposed to be the best striker in the division, well we have Michal Helik who’s the best defender in the championship so we’ll see how he gets on.”

After 25 minutes, Vik mugged Helik who attempted a stupid back pass and ran on to score his first in a comfortable 4-0 win (Gyökeres 2, Hamer and Walker )

All this bickering has got me thinking - we need an org chart of this forum.

Ie. who's allies with who, who hates each other and who are the guys and girls at the top who effectively own the place?

Each person should also be colour coded to designate them as ALPHA, BETA, CUCK, INCEL and SIMP and either a swastika or a rainbow flag to denote their political affiliations.

Helik would be a decent pickup but I do worry about @shmmeee mental health if we sign another ex Barnsley defender.

Found the pre-match Warnock quote
“I think he’s (Gyökeres) the best in the league. I tried to sign him a couple of times for Cardiff. No disrespect to Mark (Robins), but I doubt he’ll be there next season. But we’ve got one of the best centre-halves in Michal Helik, and Tom (Lees) is a big player for us too. I think that’ll be a good battle.”

And the goals

Shame if it’s Lati, not as key as some others but someone who I can respect this season.

Would be interested if he’s seen as a DM for the new team since apparently the scouting took place in International duty.

Wonder who this opens up for us, wouldn’t want us to sign a loan CB ideally as always prefer permanent players especially ones targeted to be a leader.

So you keep saying yet his career proves you wrong. Elite academy > PO chasing side > PO chasing side > top champ side.
Not really sure where he played youth football counts for anything. Loads of players don't even make it, its irrelevant. He's played for Swansea and for Cov... and in my opinion the 'for Cov' bit, badly.
