Honestly guys I can't see us getting out of league 2 if we go down that might be it. Would like to be surprised but doubt it. What do you think

We would have about the highest gates so a high income to the other clubs. With a decent manager we would have a massive chance of promotion. Just because we haven't made the top 6 for a lot of years it doesn't mean we never will. We spent many years fighting relegation and always staying up. The cause of our players not being used correctly has gone. We would be very unlucky to get another SP.....although it is now down to Waggott......and he gave SP a 4 year deal after things started going tits up.

I don't know I wasn't alive for any Cov Prem years so all I've had is disappointment every year for as long as I can remember so I have a negative attitude towards cov but I don't want my kids to grow up thinking cov are a league 2 side we are not we are proud and we need to fight back

League 2 is for Accrington Stanley standard teams and tiny clubs, sisu would be forced to invest or sell, the debts we have cannot be paid off in that league and one way or another the club would simply have to advance

Maybe an idealistic approach to what seems an impending doom right now but my point is that league 2 would force change in the club

It wont be the end but it could be the beginning of the end. Nearly 50 years since the last promotion so it seems more likely we will get relegated from L2 than we will get promoted back to L1. We need to avoid relegation from L1 at all costs.

My favorite seasons were the relegation battles at the end of the season.......other than 87 that is. The days out, the pressure, the great escapes, the togetherness of our supporters......was a fun time although we didn't think so at the time.

Went to Derby on Tuesday, Blues last Wednesday and Bournemouth the Saturday before that. It's ridiculous how bad our league is in comparison. If you put it on a relative scale those three games were Messi, Ronaldo and Augero. Meanwhile all the L1 games I've seen this season aren't even Runnar Norman.

Portsmouth would have much higher gates. Theirs are around the 13,000 - 15,000 mark at the moment.

Leagues were restructured in 1958 when we became Founder Members of Division 4 (now Division 2) and were promoted as runners up to champions Port Vale.

Am meeting some of those great guys for lunch tomorrow!

There is normally. 12 months salary is the general benchmark or until they find another post (whichever is sooner obviously). At most 24 months. IIRC when we sacked Capello he didn't get the full amount of his contract even though it only had a few months left to run. Mind you, I think even you wouldn't be surprised if CCFC had put in any manager's contract that on dismissal he would get a new Ferrari, a villa in Barbados and double salary for twice the length remaining on the deal.

Yep, we're already 6.8-7.5k which will probably drop to 5.5-6.5k next season if we stay in league one, that would go down to c5-6k in league two IMO unless we started to do well. There are 8 teams with 5k+ attendances in league two so we would be no financially better off (unless we're were doing well) than in this league.

not sure i agree. break even means that SISU dont have to pump money in, so they arent bothered short term where we are.

Sooner the club is break even the better. We don't have to rely on SISU or people like them that will come after. This is why we have to have a new stadium.

Agreed, in fact if anything you are being too generous with our league 2 crowds. Our crowds already look like there is a a significant number of season ticket holders who aren't even bothering to go everyweek when they have already paid. I see us being more like 4k if we aren't doing well which is mid table crowd wise, yet we'll likely have bigger costs, lower revenue in part due to not having a stadium but in much bigger part because of poor sponsorship, poor merchandising etc. So we could end up being low midtable or worse in terms of money available to spend. If you couple that with a terrible recruitment policy, changing almost the entire squad, very short term contracts it's reasonable to believe we could actually struggle. The one decent advantage we'd have would be the academy.

I can't be the only one that once looked at Darlington's crowds at the Northern Echo and thought it would never get that bad in an arena like that. We've already got to that point now.
