I don't agree I'm afraid Otis. I know where you're coming from, but if you've ever been in a situation where you're being attacked, particularly as intense as that was, you're going to do whatever you can to incapacitate the threat.
Especially as the effects of being tasered don’t last all that long do they? He just saw two of his female colleagues get fucked up, he was overpowered, and they had weapons on them that could easily have been taken off them.

Shows I jumped the gun earlier without seeing the whole video to be fair

A humble and proper response that I have a lot of respect for. Unfortunately there are many on this forum that have disappeared into Narnia since that clip came out.

No, disagree. At least on my part anyway.

Always think it's good to go away and reflect and think about stuff, rather than just come to an instant conclusion.

I still can't condone the kick to the head or the stamp, unfortunately. I just can't. And the law will clearly see it that way too.

I do have great sympathy with the police, having seen the clip. It was a confused situation, ever escalating and the police had to react quickly. You can't go stamping on someone's head though. You just can't.

The assailants have to be charged. And I do also think the punishment for anyone attacking a police officer should always result in greater punishment than that of attacking a member of the public.

I think it was Grendel who mentioned guns and the police being armed, but I think that would open up a very dangerous precedent. That was a very manic, chaotic incident at the airport, with fists flying in from all directions. Any shot fired during that melee could easily have resulted with an innocent bystander injured or killed.

I think the police had every right to fight back here. Every right and every right to bring the assailants down and nullify the threat, with whatever means were at their disposal. But it has to be within the rulebook.

You can't go kicking someone in the head and stamping on them. That was an act too far.

I don't want to see the copper sacked, but I'm not sure there is any other solution.

He lost it in the melee and acted past his station and his training and went a step too far. Kicking someone in the head and then stamping on them, has to be a no-no and deemed to be completely unacceptable.

That's the way it will be seen if and when the officer is charged.

To be honest, I would like to hear the views of other coppers, to see what they think. Be very interested to know the level of support, if any, for the police officer in question.

It's fine to have sympathy, but agree this was actually an act too far, however.

I don't know what else can be done other than the sacking of the officer. Temporary suspension?

Bottom line for me, is the officer clearly overstepped his remit.

The good thing about this new footage however, is that it should really help in bringing these preparators to justice.

They simply HAVE to be charged

they flew from Qatar

If they assaulted police at Qatar airport they would have been shot in the head

a woman got assaulted yet the left and feminists are taking the side of the Muslims. it’s all embarrassing

firstly all the internet saying it was a race attack when thats clearly not true. now footage come out, no mention of race attack

if this happened to a white person. wouldn’t have been a story

'All the internet'?

The percentage of people defending them small compared to people saying they should be prosecuted.

yes. you had an outcry on the internet about it. read through this thread. the usual crowd saying its racist, how wrong the police were. the police mentioned a female officer was assaulted but no outcry whatsoever. no mention on here of it

now the new footage appears. the so called left dont say a word

labour mps prime example. all over it. One even went to see the family. now radio silence from them. why? Because they don’t want to upset the Muslim vote. it’s embarrassing

Who has said it was racist in this thread? I think there was one post by one poster, I may be wrong.

People saying the copper was in the wrong is a different thing. While personally I have some sympathy with him I think he'll lose his job over this as he'll have been deemed to have acted incorrectly. So that debate will run and run but its a valid debate.

Quite a few on here the usual lot too. You had anti racist marches in the streets of Manchester. people throwing eggs at police stations. we all know why. mob rule but no one will say who

as for context. it all happened in a short period of time. officers have a split second to make a decision. people can watch a video 100 times and pick out what they want

plenty of other videos of police ‘brutality’ and nothing is said including up football matches. its all because the men were Muslim. that’s the elephant in the room

You told me to read the thread, I searched the thread for the word racist and racism, there were two posts and only one of them said anything about the police been racist.

As for your 2nd paragraph, I agree, which is why personally I have sympathy with him but I think by the letter of the law, he's in trouble.

I dont agree with your last paragraph either, theres plenty said about other police brutality incidents though not as high profile as this admittedly.

From what ive seen on the internet (Twitter in the main) the incident has been seized upon by various different groups to further their various agendas. The initial footage was just long enough to spark a wild reaction that has then got a predictable counter, the shame is that the 2nd video couldn't have come out earlier.

From Burnham's comments i have expected to see pretty much what is shown in the 2nd vid but the dividing lines were drawn well before that emerged. Too many people are happy to speak with absolute certainty and authority when the level of 'evidence' just isn't available.

Been trying to work out how to say all that. Well said

Would add the family and solicitors words really stick in the throat knowing how they started the situation with extreme violence

What an absolute heap of wank.

In a way, let this be a lesson to those who are outraged that others aren’t passing comment on a situation within half an hour of a video being uploaded on Twitter, and throwing criticism at the journalism profession for not jumping to conclusions.
To be fair, plenty of journalists and MPs jumped to conclusions.

You simply cannot say "Muslims play the victim card".

That's quite racist.

You could have at least have said "some ", or "a few", or "I have known of."

In saying "Muslims" you are saying all Muslims there. You may wish to retract that comment.

The solicitor was clearly trying to whip up an atmosphere of unrest and get people on tbe streets to protest.

you call it a heap of wank. why?

Muslims play the victim card so many times. They are like scousers. always the victims but never their fault

people are sick of it but too scared to say anything

Labour bow to the Muslim vote. the mp even went to their house. he hasnt said a word since the new video emerged showing what happened. wonder why?

Setting aside the swathe of absolute bumfluff you spout first, there was literally a movement against Labour from the Workers Party (Galloway) and independents on Labour’s stance on Gaza. The idea they “bow to the Muslim vote” is for the birds.

I agree, I’m talking more generally about when a video surfaces and people use it to have a go at the ‘mainstream media’ for waiting for the facts.

Galloway done that for by election. didnt materialise in the general election

look at the local mp. bowing down to the family, visiting them, tweeting about them. since the truth has emerged. he hasn’t mentioned anything. no different to the Solictor who you keep referring to

It’s pretty easy to be calm and measured on a keyboard.

They smashed the faces of two women officers. A taser impact is very minimal. He could get up and do it again. He could have had weapons. He needed subduing and without being too cynical he didn’t look especially bruised when going home.

The gun reference is regarding airport policy. Honestly looking at that mayhem I think it like have been legitimate to draw weapons and demand they adopt a surrender position.

Yeah, he needed subduing.

Kicking someone in the head is hardly subduing and he had just been tasered.

The trouble is, it looks like they had completely lost their heads and the police drawing their guns may not have quietened them down - at which there would probably be videos of two dead men circulating social media. I can’t imagine the reaction that would have caused, and - of course- the video showing previous events would not have been posted at the same time.

All Muslims? Absolute nonsense.

I had a Muslim friend who once fought in the British army.

Odds of this must be like winning the lottery. Since even today they make up less than 0.5% of all roles in the armed forces.

Looks like he was tasered again just before and including the time of the headshot. You can see the arms stiffening against the body, relaxing and stiffening again in the new video moments before.

Agree though, he was totally out of control.
