Micky Adams had one way of playing, and his strength was in a 'siege mentality', ie limited funds and having to scour around. But thats all he had- he had no tactical awareness to change a game, he made some of the worst buys we ever made, never had any clue of how to adapt a game to what the opposition were doing, and as soon as other clubs progressed and cottoned onto us he was all at sea.
And one more point- we were 11th on the morning of the final game (v Cardiff I think), and there was nothing to play for at all, we jumped 5 places as nobody above us put in a proper performance as they knew they couldn't make the playoffs. It is not the case, as you are implying, that we were in and around the playoffs all season- we were never less than 10-15 points away the whole season.
