Because he's not that good? Doesn't change the fact he played a significant amount of minutes that we haven't replaced at all.Howcome he didn't start a league game?
Unless he wants ridiculous wages then this would be a good signing imo.
I know DK seems to only want younger players, but we need some older head me as well. How many of our players are over 30?
It's not life threatening this time round which is positiveHave we any news yet on Sakamoto"s injury?
He’s scored some memorable goals, but these aren’t close to balancing out the problems that come from his constant showboating and unwillingness to commit to a press.Always been a fan of Palmer, but never to the point where I thought he'd be a real miss if unavailable. Even in that 70 minutes against Wolves, where he was excellent, he probably should have scored at least 1 - which may have put the game to bed.
I think it was meThe other day I laughed at someone who suggested it. At this point, I wouldn’t be against it.
I do not believe for a second the words “doesn’t fit the model” came out of Doug’s mouth. This sounds like complete fiction for twitter interactions.View attachment 38286View attachment 38287
Now all over X. Our entitled fanbase will have their pitchforks out if James doesn’t sign. Forget the 40m spent over the past 18 months, the attempts to bring in a big CM signing in over the summer, the rejected bids of our top players, the improvements behind the scenes /infrastructure and the fact that we’re even paying decent money on players for the future for the first time in years (Bassette).
Who would be a football club owner !
ps if we can sign James great, I liked him on loan and think he would add to the squad but the lack of appreciation of what’s been done at the club, the longer term plan and attempts to put club on a sustainable footing, is quite frankly frightening
Robins did say it was a recurrence but also said he was back in training this week. Turner reported half of the conversation.Robins said he hurt a toe in training, so where did Turnip get a recurrence from??
8PM video tonight then, what shoes he wearing any betsMy reliable source seems to think this talk is behind the curve and it’s actually been signed and sealed…

Sheaf could get out a lot longer and injury prone, would be good to have coverAnd? He would be in a similar role to Sheaf in our team. He isn't going to play instead of Sheaf.
Yeah but it's well known he hates DougSaddle posted it on here...
Just got rid of Palmer, for a few, must have money for thisPut yourself in Kings shoes as the owner of a loss making operation.
Robins “can I have cash for Torp, Bassette, Mason-Clark, Thomas-Asante, Binks, Dovin and Rodrigues. Can you reject offers for Simms, Wright, Van Ewijk and Sheaf.
Doug “done”.
Robins “actually forget Torp can I have more money for James now”.
The song makes me cringe.
If he can stay fit then get him in, even when Sheaf is back he will be good to have around.
What difference does it make to the model? We wouldn't be paying anything surely, and any young players who fit the model would have to wait until at least January? Unless there's some sort of massive signing on fee.

Agreed, I‘m sure many of us expected Sheaf to go. The only reason COH left was because it was on a free and outside of our control. It depends what you consider success….
we strengthened our Keeper, out wide on both flanks, the striking options and made Binks perm.
We didn’t sell any of our key players.
we managed to offload Godden and Palmer for fees.
That’s a good window, maybe even a very good window. If we had added a great number 6 or 8 that would have made it a brilliant window.
failing to land one target doesn’t make all other progress irrelevant …..
I really like Doug's model, it reminds me of Crewe back in the day (Ashton, Hulse, Murphy, etc went for millions even then), it's even more savvy these days buying 'assets' and selling them on with add on's and bigger money, then going it again. He obviously timed it well and saw how well it went with Hamer and Vik. However, this approach only works when the potential you invest in actually develops. How do they do that? it's not just talent and working hard. They need an environment, staff, facilities and a team that they can perform in. The top teams have those experienced characters who push the talent on, inspire them, protect and look after them. There was a whole thread on Torp on this forum. who does he have in and around him on the pitch who can look after him and help him develop? A Matty James type player would be massive.
Just my view on it, I'd take a couple of 30+ players and create the right team environment.
Maybe tell the recruitment team it surely escaped their notice. The fact we are in this situation to begin with is a joke.
Matty James is 33 and will likely command a higher wage than Liam Kelly was earning, the 2 players are not much apart in terms of quality, yet we shifted on Kelly because we'd outgrown that level of player.
It's a regression to say the least, I'm not trying to come across negative but we are literally 2 or 3 talented players away (a midfielder and a centre back) from really becoming a top 3 or 4 side in this division and yet we fucked around signing a shed load of forwards.
It's frustrating, we already had Sakamoto, Simms, Wright, Tavares. I genuinely thought when we brought in Asante and then Bassette, perhaps Simms or Wright might be sold, but clearly that wasn't the case.
We lost Hamer and O'hare and that is fine. This happens in Football, at every level in the game a club will have to sell because the player and his agent want a fat signing on fee etc.
We all have differing opinions but I think we can all agree we should have signed a fucking centre mid and a defender.

It was the loudest song on Saturday.
Absolutely. I really can't believe anyone is upset that Kasey has left. Concerns about "numbers" maybe, but no one will miss KP in a City shirt.Robins himself said he didn't think we'd miss him and we don't - he can't play the roles we need so it's not really "honestly shocking". The more pertinent issue is the reoccurence of Sheaf's injury.
His rant made it sound like we didnt even bother going after defenders or midfielders when clearly we didThe issue is it's obvious to everybody we fucked up the midfield
It's not how much has been spent that's the issue, it's where it's spent
All good cruising round showing off in a Ferrari, but pointless if its it's got a Ford KA engine
