This is a good one: Seems that there was only one side wiling to negotiate or be willing to have an independent arbritator.

ACL applied to put us into administration shortly after this meeting it appears.

But when Tim was questioned by Stuart Linnell after a match last season and asked if he'd agree to be bound by mediation/arbitration (don't remember which) and he just gave his usual non committal waffle and when pressed went for more waffle with a no but I'm not saying no bias. I can't remember whether this was before or after the trust Q&A session.

However Bob Ainsworth who isn't standing for re-election made a statement in his Private Members Debate said this
Mr Ainsworth:Although the dispute between the parties over the rent level has been in the public domain for many months, and much innuendo and allegation inevitably surround such disputes, one key aspect has not had any public exposure. If we are to go forward, it must be flushed out. The football club’s owners are seeking to challenge the validity of the original rental agreement made back in 2002, and are using that challenge in an attempt to discredit the city council’s motives for paying £14 million to Yorkshire bank in December for the stadium’s debts. I cannot see what right the club owners have to issue threats on that front as they bought the club more than five years later. They had the opportunity for due diligence, and I would hope that the principle of caveat emptor meant something in that case. If the

hedge fund is allowed to reopen the issue, it will be a blatant attempt to profit at the expense of those who built and paid for the stadium: in part, the people of Coventry.

Mr Jim Cunningham (Coventry South) (Lab): My right hon. Friend has obviously done considerable investigation into the matter. I have the impression that the parent company, Sisu, bought the football club to acquire the stadium; that is my view, although I have not gone into it in depth. Has he considered a way forward? Is it worth while exploring arbitration? He will know better than I do; he has dealt with the matter a lot more than I have.

Mr Ainsworth:I will come to exactly that point later in my speech. It is a potential way forward that has been put to the club owners in the past few days.

To return to the issue of whether the owners will be allowed to reopen the agreements that existed long before they arrived in the city and took over the club, Martin Reeves and Chris West of the city council and Arena Coventry Ltd dismissed the threats as “desperate stuff”. However, in my view, the club owners must be prepared to justify their threats and allegations publicly or drop the issue if we are to find a way forward. I challenge them to do so.

The Sky Blue Trust, which represents fans, now has more than 800 members, an indication of the growing amount of alarm among fans. I thank the trust for helping and supporting me to prepare for this debate and for all the work that it has done over the past few years. The club has made a proposal that I put to the club owners yesterday: binding arbitration conducted by a well-qualified local man, Dr John Beech, who has a PhD in business strategy from Cranfield university and more than five years’ experience examining football finance.

Board member Mark Labovitch indicated his enthusiasm for that course of action. However, the response that I received today demonstrates how difficult it is to deal with Joy Seppala and her team. It seeks to turn the proposal of binding arbitration into an opportunity to investigate Arena Coventry’s finances and set the agenda for the arbiters. Of course, there is no suggestion that the football club’s finances or ownership structure should be subjected to investigation.

<Snipped>

Before I leave the issue of arbitration, I find it astonishing that Mr Labovitch, a member of the football board, should have sent me this e-mail a few minutes ago about the offer to arbitrate:
“Bob, I forgot to mention one (hopefully obvious) point: arbitration should all be conducted in public, no hiding behind claims of ‘commercially sensitive’”.

This from a company deliberately structured to prevent anybody from seeing what its business is, where the money is moved and who the eventual beneficiaries are. It is cheeky beyond belief.

What has ACL got to hide?

My bolding there, surely something that we all could agree on I'd have thought.

Would rather use the Trusts published discussions with both parties as evidence of whether anybody wanted any arbritration rather than some vague recollection of a radio interview at some indeterminate time myself.

Under the circumstances I would say Thorn, Robins and Pressley have been backed.

They gave that useless manager Coleman a job for two and half years.

Backing managers not necessarily a good thing if they're fucking shite.

......We aren't getting any pie money from Northampton so why are we going to such desperate lengths to not play in Coventry?....

I didn't realise that BSB. I thought one of Fisher's points in going to Northampton was we get a slice of the catering etc. As you say, if true than just another hole in his arguement.

...........

Just getting back on topic - Nikki probably flattered that the mysterious Joy has graced her with a meeting and made her feel important. Probably buttered her up, saying poor old SISU vs the nasty council, who are trying to extort us with the high rent and an inflated price for buying the Ricoh (with Nikki starry eyed not thinking to point out that SISU would charge CCFC high rent, or sell the club and stadium on to a 3rd party for an inflated price).

Either that or Joy has some photos when Nikki was a fella.

yup, expected to see the pathetic pro acl posts everywhere

as a neutral CCFC fan,its what i already knew, council are dicks, sisu not much better

but it should be pointed out that since relegation SISU have backed the managers and invested int he club, it does seem they have learnt from past mistakes and if council can stop hindering us maybe we can move forwards and upwards.

balls in councils court, the administrator, football league, neutrals(bar that judge admittedly) all siding with sisu, maybe people should stop screaming conspiracy and realise the council are in the wrong.

You sound very neutral

The £4 bit on tickets is interesting though, will Nikki Sinclaire be able to expand on it? IF true and they did want £4 from every ticket as well as rent / matchday costs it is a bit cheeky. Unless that was just the matchday costs and how they worked it out?

It works out on £1.2M rent divided by av 12000 at 25 matches.

Effectively she is saying that because they were charging £1.2M rent that the council are charging £4 per head per match.
Obviously missing out the crucial rent bit to make ACL out as charging additional fees.
Unfortunately the MEP never understood this so never asked the next question.

I have to say it is probably the only time so far SISU have trumped ACL/Council on the PR campaign.

The fact she bothered to meet Niki even if her explanation was full of holes guaranteed her a good write up

Cardoza was interview in the local Northampton paper and he said even NTFC wouldn't gain much in terms of catering etc from the deal as they have a similar deal with an outside company as is in place at the Ricoh with Compass. If NTFC aren't getting much I wouldn't say there's much chance there's a huge amount coming to CCFC. Not that those revenue streams will be worth much given the size of the crowds at Sixfields.

That's very true mate.

Well while we are on useless managers what about Hoofroyd?

(I should just say not all his signings were that bad performance wise i.e Juke, King & Keogh)

She's now saying on Twitter that everyone is wrong. Apparently SISU never stopped paying rent!!! Not sure why SISU didn't bother to defend themselves in court when ACL took action over non payement if that is the case!

Thorn was backed in his second season for the first time.
He was allowed to sign players he was then not allowed to manage them
Robins was backed
Pressley not really yet due to external factors.
However Pressley has made the biggest instant impact.
Just hope they allow him to get the replacements in for when the fatigue kicks in from the high intensity training and playing style

thorn and robins were backed with loads of friggen players!!!!!!!!

and pressley is being backed best they can considering the embargo and overall situation

since they admitted making mistakes they have backed the managers, that is a fact.

Tell her SISU side of the story and send her on her way as a loose cannon.
I don't think the MEP understands this in depth and couldn't ask the probing questions.

Robins certainly, on his first day he seemed to bring along a new assistant and about forty loan signings with him.

That's the most frustratin thing. Before all this crap they were looking like finally choosing a decent board. Unfortunately good players and good managers mean nothing if the people of Coventry can't watch them.

Quality wanted not Quantity.
Teams should improve not go backwards.
As for the best they can considering ........ the embargo is there fault. As is restricting income by moving to Sixfields.

Thank christ he wasn't backed before then. Last summer's signings were generally atrocious.

That's down to the fault of the managers who believed that those certain players were required..

It's Quiz Time

Well our MEP is not too popular. Strange as which well known posters have said this about SISU loving Niki?

“Does it matter if she's fishing for votes or a pre op trans gender?
The fact she is focusing on the skyblues, about to play away from Ricoh, will do for me!”

“Wow, that is great.. well done Niki”

“Fair play o Nikki for standing in our corner.
I blame not just SISU for this mess, but the FL could have sorted this if they had any balls at all.”

cant believe people question this womans intentions and try to belittle her! you do all realise that despite being a liverpool season ticket holder she has been an active board member of AFC Wimbledon for several years championing their cause. Some of you deserve what you get!

I have a lot of time for Nikki, believe me she is one of the most genuine people I know. She is an avid football fan and really does care about CCFC. She also has little time for the Football League and will endevour to get as much help as possible for our cause.

I thinks its very easy to belittle politicians as being egotistical and only seeking voting favour.... I'm typically guilty and cynical of the profession.. but on this occasion I genuinely think Nikki has the best interest of the club, the fans and the City of Coventry at heart....regrettably I think it a forlorn task..but I for one welcome her support.

No, its down to TF, backed up with his comments at the forums that there are loads of players out of contract and waiting to be picked up.

Does he not realise that they are out there because nobody wants them. (Except us)

Think it must be "Sisu slag" week this week, those quotes must have been from "Defender of the Sky Blue Faith" week.

At least every week is contradictory statements and schizophrenia week on here.

Appreciate her efforts but to come out with this £4 statement without getting into the details is naïve to say the least.
Have the meeting, but try to get an understanding of what is stopping this moving on.
Not come out the meeting with a bag of worms for all the SISU chicks to feast on.
