Palace and West Ham in talks for Burnley midfielder McNeil
Crystal Palace and West Ham are both in talks with Burnley over a deal for midfielder Dwight McNeil.
The 22-year-old has made 134 Premier League appearances and is seen as a prime target because of his experience of top-level football while still being in his early 20s.
McNeil is keen to return to the Premier League and is currently considering a number of options.
However, Burnley are in a strong bargaining position, despite relegation, as McNeil has two years remaining on his current deal and the club have the option to extend that contract by a further year.
The Clarets are likely to demand a fee in excess of £15m for McNeil if they are to sanction his departure.

Looks like Burnley may be waiting for this offload.

I’m waiting for the football league world article being outraged at the fee. McNeil hasn’t exactly set the premier league alight

Forest are being seriously backed this season, their spending over £100m, now they’re signing Lingard on a free as they can offer more than West Ham!
well Villa spent 120M on thier return to the prem and came 4th from bottom.
It is Quality not quanity.

Who gives a flying one shot expected assists and goals, watch the bloody game and you can see who the best players are without this nonsense

O'Hare is great, but as we know his end product still needs significant improvement. That isn't hating on him, that is just realistically what makes him between 5 and 8 million now, rather than 10million plus. We all have sky blue glasses on however...

The Twine comparison is also not so black and white either. He might have played a league lower (which people seem keen to disqualify), but he had 20 goals and 13 assists last season in League 1. Being a year younger as well you cannot just say 'he is worth half the price' and write him off so easily.

Wouldn't it be great to have both...

This.

Just to add O'Hare at the same level admittedly a year younger got nowhere near the stats Twine did... (In a league winning team to boot) both together could be scary depending how Kompany has them playing.

The eternal optimist in me is at constant war with the massive pessimist when it comes to this football club. Today I'm thinking positively regarding O'Hare leaving.

I'm aware that this is a massive IF as the scenario involves transfer rumours and involves investment from the owners, but... Palmer, Anjorin, Sibley, Allen is better than O'Hare, Allen, Shipley... also with a good fee received it should leave money for someone else to come in (Bird?) Plus some money banked away for SISU.

As I say, it's optimistic perhaps but not totally unrealistic.

Well this much depends on how much we can get Burnley to pay up front. £10 million in one go and what you're describing isn't impossible

Exactly my friend. Part 1 of my optimistic scenario involves getting a decent fee.

Just need a few PL managers to start openly declaring interest in McNeill and Cornet then see how Kompany likes it.
Oh they'll be gone and there will be a heck of a rebuild, could struggle tbh.

I don’t understand the rollercoaster ride some fans are on re O’Hare. We have to sell 1, if it’s to be him then crack on. I only care about 2 things: the fee, and how we replace him.

I’d care if we had an option, but we are led to believe we don’t.

But I'm emotionally attached!

Ridiculously, the window shuts 7 games into the season, we could start the saeason with all of the "big 3" but lose any combination by the 1st September!!
bit of a gamble, lose 5 of our first 7 and players heads might turn and we'll have to sell for cheaper. Shit rule

I only care about one thing..... COVENTRY CITY FOOTBALL CLUB.
If he goes, so be it.
If anyone else goes, so be it.
If CCFC goes, then that's a completely different matter.

Let’s say he eventually goes for 8 million. Even if Robins only sees 25% of that, it would free him up to bring in a replacement (Sibley or a top Premier League youngster, Man City & Chelsea seem to like us). I think we have 3-5 players lined up, when we have the budget. As of yet Waghorn, Walker & Kane are all still here, and most likely our top earners. None of the Big 3 have been sold,. I think by September 2nd our squad could look very different.

Equally though, one of the parachute payments brigade could lose their first few and panic into paying over the odds for one of our players. Still hoping we’ll keep our best players
